A couple of days ago. Nintendo announced that they were working on virtual console games that will support Gamepad screen play. What games would you guys like to see added to the Wii U Virtual Console? Me I think they should take the games from the old virtual console and convert them to the gamepad and add Gamecube games like they said they were going to do. Games like Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine.

I don't like virtual consoles at all. It's like an emulator that you have to pay for each time they release a new console. I'd much rather have the physical copy to play on the physical console it was released for until it's dust than have to keep shelling out cash for virtual products. =/ It's just not very appealing to people with a collector's mindset. Although if it does help younger generations get into older games that's always a plus and I know there are plenty of people that love 'em and that's fine too. Everyone's different. :)

If I had any recommendations for the younger kids for VC I would go with SSB Melee, Paper Mario 1000 year door, and Metroid Prime. All great games that I think will stand the test of time. :yeah:

Gamecube emulation would be neat, but I'm not sure if even the Wii U is that powerful. Though I guess it could be possible at lower resolutions, which would be fine for the gamepad. It wouldn't look too amazing on a 1080p TV, however. Is it possible to play games you bought on the original Wii's virtual console?

Yeah a nice selection of games over a number of Nintendo consoles would be great.

Yes you can transfer the games that you bought on your original wii to the wii u by a system transfer but you cannot use the gamepad with them.

The Wii U doesnt emulate the Wii but switches to "Wii mode", just like the Wii did for Gamecube games.
There's no emulation involved, it's fully compatible at the BIOS and hardware level (hence the 4 NGC controller ports etc).
That's why NGC games play just as well and smoothly on the Wii, in Cube mode the Wii is really a Gamecube in disguise.

But there are no NGC controller ports or memory slots present on the Wii U so it cant switch to Cube mode.
Whether Wii U is powerful enough to run the OS AND emulate the Cube in software remains to be seen but i would not rule it out.
CPU technology has advanced a lot since the NGC was designed.

Its been rumored for a long time that the gamecube will be in the virtual console for wii u but with it being Gamepad compatible? Can the Gamepad handle Gamecube games?
