It is hard to find someone who is not an animal lover of some kind. I would like to hear about your all's pets (past and present). Feel free to post pics to! I am badly allergic to cats, and have always been more of a dog person. I had a cocker spaniel and lab mix when I was younger. She was a great dog that was always happy and excited. I named her "Sprite". She died when I was about 15 I think. When I was 6 my dad bought us an african gray parrot. He is a total trip. He has severe attitude problems, and always acted like a grumpy old man ![]() He could say a lot of cool things though. My mom still has him. He is 29 years old, same as me. My dad also had 2 english bulldogs that I loved to play with when I visited him. The boy was very stubborn and rowdy. The girl was sweet and smart. They were very fun dogs. Both are dead now. I had a dozen or so hampsters over the years. I always found them to be fun. I've had enough fish to stock a small pond. Right now we have no pets though. Alright, now it is your all's turn! |

I have a black lab/pitbull who we found when I was VERY young, like 4 or 5 in the Bronx.. He was eating out of a takeout container and he was in one of those huge garbage things just chilling. His tail is bent because he had abusive owners. He used to be very energetic but recently he just likes to chill and watch T.V/watch me play video games, hes pretty awesome Also his name is Lucky![]() Ignore the elbow ![]() This picture is from 2011 but he still looks almost exactly the same. Well, growing up I had two dogs.. One ran away when I was like 5, the other died when I was like 13. Now I have two cats that I adopted around 2 years ago after they were abandoned in a plastic bag in a parking lot when they were kittens. They're brothers and look pretty similar (fur wise, etc) one of them is really hyper/spastic and constantly runs around and knocks sh*t down, where the other one is a fatty who just lays around and eats all day. ![]()

Yeah we had a few different types of pets growing up. Had 2 Shetland Sheepdog's when I was really little back in early 80's called Bambi and Ceaser. Thise 2 would be well and truly gone now. Oh I forgot to mention the first dog my mum and dad had was when i was born. His name was Satan (I know right? How stupid to call your dog that??) Anyway, that had to give him away as he used to knock me over all the time when I was a toddler. Had 3 cats Tabatha, Becky and Sharni. They were pretty fun. Tabatha had no tail, the German Sheppard next door got a hold of her one day and bang it's gone. Those cats would have passed 10 years ago nearly now. Had a dog called Zac when I was about 11. He was a little Australian Terrior. Awesome dog and loved to chase the ball. He lived until he was 16 years old. Not a bad life at all. In my adult life I have only owned 2 animals that weren't apart of my original childhood/family setup. I took in an American Staffy when he was 6 months old. The owner was looking to give him away so I had a look and took him home. His name is Beavis, he is such a big sook, and I'm pretty sure he suffers from separation anxiety. He's nearly 4 now and has been the funnest dog, just wants to be around you all day and even thinks he's a lap dog at times jumping straight up. Lastly my wife and I bought her a little Shitzu-Maltese puppy called Molly. She's a cutely and always keeps us entertained around the house. Life would certainly look different without our pets. I was raised with animals my whole life so to me it only seems natural to have them around. Wow thats heaps. sorry for the long winded version, just got in the zone.............

So At&t came today to install new internet. The guy left the front door WIDE OPEN for what had to have been like 20 minutes. I only noticed it was open when I went downstairs. So immediately I started to panic because my cats are indoor cats and I couldn't find one of them, looked everywhere in the house and nowhere to be seen. I assumed he ran out the door while it was open. I was seriously about to go and print a bunch of "lost" posters. Then when I was searching the house I came across this: See it? ![]() Spoiler: click to toggle

<--------------------There's my boy blue. He is awesome (and darn handsome if you ask me). You would think that going through life with 2.5" legs would make you timid and a depressed, but not Blue. He chases after deer (who look at him like he must be kidding, then think better of it when he gets within about 5' of them). He tears after squirrels (and one day, when he finally figures out that they don't disappear, they just go up a tree, he'll bag one). He gets fired up if any dog over 75 pounds approaches "his" property (he weighs about a 1/6th of that). But most of the time, he is a total snuggle-muffin. He wants nothing more from life than to curl up on my lap and to have his ears scratched . . . if only life were that simple for the rest of us. |

This sounds just like mine!! Good to hear that they were both safe & sound despite the extended open exit they had yesterday. @128Phantom - really sad to hear of your loss, man... that really stinks. Anyways, as you might have guessed even before this post, I have a cat. His name is "Gato de Piso" which is Spanish for... "floorcat". But most of the time I just call him "fat kitty" or "Fatty Fatness" (which, not-so-coincidentally, is my PSN ID) ![]() I don't have any recent pics of Gato, but here's some older ones... (he hasn't changed much): Spoiler: click to toggle Also, as of last month, we have a dog now, too!! His name is "Nyo" (pronounced Neo, like from the Matrix), and he's about the same age as Gato (~11 years old). He was always/originally my partner's dog, but her sister (who lives in a 3rd-story elevator-less apartment) was taking care of him for the last few years, until his hip arthritis started really acting up. So we have him now, and he's really the sweetest, kindest, most mellow/mild-mannered animal I've ever met. Don't have any pictures up (yet), but he's a German Shepherd/Shar Pei mix. He's pretty awesome, and (as expected) Gato hates him. Anyways, love reading about (and seeing pictures of) others' pets!! |

Floorcat the picture of him laying down and eating is hilarious! I love how cats are so chillaxed and just don't care about anything, but the moment they see a mouse or a bird they become stealthy ninja assassins.

heck yeah... that picture is absolutely the quintessential "Fatty Fatness"!!And I totally agree, zar... for how fat/lazy my furball is, he's a TOTAL ninja when he wants to be!! (There' haven't been many mice to catch in his lifetime, but it's kinda sick & twisted, how easily he catches them and ends up "playing" with his food.)

Scooter and floorcat, you guys have beautiful cats. floorcat, the one with your cat's head in the bowl is the best ![]() I told you this a few years ago, but my wife's brother had a blanket with that same print on it that is in your last pic there. We found it so odd, as your personality reminds us of him

Yeah, my older brother thought it would be funny to keep putting him inside his socks. Then his feet kept breaking out. Next thing I know, we had no ferret. His name was "Bart" after Bart Simpson. I would also like to mention my grandparents yellow lab, Katie. She was probably the most loyal dog I have ever seen. She lived 15 long years, and spent the last of it largely blind. My grandma even once thought she was dead, so she started digging her grave. Katie came walking by her when she was about halfway done digging She was also pretty deaf to, so she didn't respond to my grandma when she called her. I think that is what made her think she was dead.

I Remember A cat we had When I was About ten we were Living In hounville And We had A cat for A few years And Had moved into a rental property and were there for a couple of months but we weren't aloud any animals at the house so we had to give our cat away To A place in Lindisfarne (About 44 Kms or 27 miles away) and a few weeks after we had gave our cat away my dad had gone outside and found him sleeping outside the front door he was really thin (he was a fat cat when we gave him away) and he was absolutely filthy and hiss paws were bleeding, he had walked all the way back to the house so we took him back and hid him whenever the landlord came around and we still have him to this day
