Talking with my sister last night about my Nintendo 64 collecting and she announces she still has my old SNES I gave to her when I bought my original Nintendo 64 in 1997!! She's never used it in years so I got it all back in a box. I have the SNES, four controllers, multi tap (4 player adapter) and a load of games. Plugged it in last night and its still working fine, so will maybe have a wee play on it over the next few days

What kind of games do you like to play on your SNES? Here in the US the SNES was very popular because of its large library of Japanese style RPG's but personally I prefer to play fighting games on the system. Of course, Super Mario Kart is my overall favorite game on the Super Nintendo.

I bought it originally after playing Street Fighter ll on a friend's SNES one night and getting totally hooked!! Bomberman and Mario Kart were great multiplayer games, we spent many hours playing those ![]() Superstar Soccer and PGA Tour Golf were the same. Oh and Jurassic Park!!! to be honest, the SNES is my favourite Nintendo console. Probably because it was the first one i ever played. And the best SNES games are all still very playable today. |

I agree. I bet I could still sit down and invest several hours in games of Super Metroid, TLoZ: A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG...the list could go on and on. Anyway, way to go, Highlander! I'd love for someone to give me a nice SNES set up like that, and all for free.

awesome console! my N64 collecting days are over. i have every game i want on it. now it's on to the snes. already have a lot of CIB classics. needs a few more. today's arrival is a CIB yoshi's island highlights of my snes collection thus far (CIB): - the donkey kong country trilogy - the mortal kombat trilogy - the street fighter II trilogy - f zero - zelda a link to the past - secret of mana - secret of evermore - super metroid - super mario all stars - super probotector alien rebels i feel the snes is more pick up and play than the N64. you can complete games like probotector in one sitting. no unnecessary hard parts. while on the N64 you can get stuck often, like castlevania, majora's mask, TWINE, rogue squadron... the N64 is for more experienced players (largely) while the snes is the equivalent of a fruity cocktail in a hawaiian cocktail bar. the N64 is more a spare rib all you can eat bar

You've covered quite a few of the best the SNES has to offer. Good luck with the collection!

thanks! i love collecting. every new classic addition to my library is proudly put in place. i never tire just watching those nice boxes on their shelf. every single game on it has been earned, be it with my first pocket money or with some luck from a far foreign country. seeing them all together sitting there has a very calming effect on me the games i very badly want CIB now are: robocop 3 PAL the terminator NTSC (has a cooler box) mario kart PAL (not the classic version) sometimes i wonder what i'll do when i have every game i want, collection is so much fun!

I'm a big SNES fan - first console I bought with money I earned so it has a special place in my heart. I have a PAL modified console with the region disabled and a 50/60 switch that lets me play my PAL games full screen & full speed (most weren't optimised and play fine at 60Hz). I have had to buy NTSC versions of those games that were PAL optimised and glitch at 60Hz. These were the big 1st party games like Pilotwings and SMK so are pretty cheap to pick up. I have quite a nice SNES collection: PAL games: Spoiler: click to toggle These are most of what I own CIB - have since got a few more but they are mostly loose NTSC carts as I'm happy to own a loose cart if I have the PAL version CIB. Big Box version of Super Metroid and Collectors Edition of SF2 Turbo (tin box is numbered and has a little SF2 Turbo badge included - nice item). Super Gameboy shown in pic for scale! Spoiler: click to toggle and here's the old SNES itself bless it (note switch on side for 50/60Hz and slot widened for US games) On the lookout for a nice Hudson Bomberman themed multi-tap but the 3rd party one I have is fine for now! The mouse controllers are supported by On the Ball (aka Cameltry), Vegas Stakes and Arkanoid. Spoiler: click to toggle Edited by davyK, Aug 2 2013, 09:45 AM.

I recently found my love for the SNES. I never owned one before, the N64 was my very first home console after growing fond to Nintendo games thanks to the Gameboy. And while I still use the N64 when there are multiple people present, who can resist Mario Kart 64, when I am alone I basicly only play on the SNES and totally neglect the trusty 64bit champ. I only have two SNES games so far: Zelda ALttP and Chrono Trigger but boy oh boy The SNES is the sole reason why I sold my Wii, didn't buy the Wii-U and won't even look at the next generations offerings like PS4 or Xbox1. Before I always thought I prefered the N64 over modern consoles because I did grow up with it's games and not because modern games just don't appeal to me. But even though I never played any SNES games before I absolutly love them. I couldn't even name one single game on the Wii/Xbox 360 that comes close to Zelda ALttP or Chrono Trigger. So the SNES has proven to me that it's not only childhood memories that make me love older games for Nintendo systems there really is something about those games that has been lost in current games. So yeah, everyone please go buy a SNES and at least Zelda

time to post my current top 10 of snes games 1. super mario world 2. castlevania V vampire's kiss 3. turtles IV turtles in time 4. super castlevania IV 5. super probotector alien rebels 6. street fighter II 7. robocop vs the terminator 8. donkey kond country 2 9. secret of evermore 10. batman returns robocop vs terminator is breaking into the top 10 since i got it this week on ebay. great, overlooked action game that shouldnt be missed by fans of either franchise. the first levels keep you wanting but then its all about shooting terminators with robocop. nice! metroid and zelda have left the top 10. this is because they demand too much time from me, i can play for an hour max and it's just too little to enjoy these games. the list consists mainly of action games. only one RPG is included, SOE, which technically is an action adventure. it's as far as i'm willing to go when investing time in games these days. come to mention it, i really wanted to switch SOE for either robocop 3 or "the terminator" but then i already have a game of this franchise in my list, and still i wanted to show my respect to the brilliant SOE.

16-bit fighting game fans and SNES/Super Famicom collectors may be interested in supporting this Kickstarter campaign. Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter $35 gets you a clear black (smoke) cartridge while $70 buys the limited edition gold cart. As I mentioned in another thread, me and my friends still play 16-bit fighting games so I find this potential release very exciting and I pray that it finds much success. |

The Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter ROM is now available online if you look hard enough. I hear it plays well on the Wii via Snes9x GX.
