Thanks, guys, glad you are enjoying this one.

Two more videos for today, both eventually re-tooled and released on the GameCube:

1. Eternal Darkness. Looks like it could have been great. Now why didn't Simon Belmont ever think of using a torch to fend off pesky skeletons?

2. Resident Evil Zero. Informative video by AydanWatkins.

Thanks Red, nice finds!

I had really wanted to find the Looney Tunes racer, so I am glad you found it! The speed of the game appears to be geared for the younger audience, eh?

I think I may have seen a longer Ultra Combat video somewhere, but it was a DD version. I may update and replace it I find it.

Freak Boy looks like one we were better off without, lol.

Thanks again, Red!

I'm not sure this matches the criteria for this thread in any way, but I flipped through this old N64 magazine today and saw an article about "War Lad", or
War: Final Assault, and thought I'd share it with you guys. This thread seemed to be appropriate.

Have you heard of it?

Shot a pic of the article from the N64 Magazine:
Spoiler: click to toggle

From Wiki:
"The game was being ported to the Nintendo 64, but the port was canceled and never released"

Don't know which gaming platform this Youtube video is based on:

Cabanon:

Nintendo Power issues #92 through #151 are N64 related (I have all of these issues in mint condition) and they contain everything from game reviews, posters, bonus items, etc. inside these magazines. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I can look them up for you.

nintendolife has an article today about unreleased N64 games, highlighting three of the (potential) best, including my personal (assumed) favorite, Viewpoint 2064.

Chris Seavor of RARE tweeted about a cancelled :n64: title I had not heard of: Pro Am 64.

NES fans may recall that RARE developed RC Pro-Am and the now pricey RC Pro-Am 2.

Nice find!

From his responses, it seems to be the working title given before Diddy Kong RACING...

But it brings up something else:

It made me think- At what point in a game's development do they decide to greenlight the production of certain items like these; almost knowing full well that it will change and differ from the end product?

Pro Am 64 turned into Diddy Kong Racing when Miyamoto saw the project at E3 1997, liked it, and told Rare they could take Diddy so players would be more familiar to one of the characters.

About the (very well posted) videos,

I would LOVE to play 40 Winks, Dinosaur Planet, Earthbound 64 and ofcouse the holy grail of Twelve Tales: Conker 64.

speaking of Dinosaur Planet... is this the "prototype" of Starfox Adventures?

@Vinyl: Yes, that is my understanding. The Dinosaur Planet project "evolved" into Star Fox Adventures.

That is some list of upcoming games! Seems the N64 missed out on quite a few.

A few updates:

1. Viewpoint 2064 has been added. Holy Zaxxon, I WANT THIS GAME!! A shooter, both isometric and on-rails. This sequel to the arcade shooter Viewpoint clearly has great visuals (and every review I read about it said the same). It was shown off at Nintendo show in August of 1999 as a final version, and at that time, it was announced for release in November of 1999. In fact, this game was SOOO close to release that its price had actually been set in advertisements for the game (7,800Y or about $80 USD!!). Sammy, how can we ever forgive you???

So did you catch this...

Thanks for posting, Vinyl. I will update the first post accordingly.

So what I learned is that Twelve Tales was NOT an unreleased BFD sequel, but rather an early build that evolved into BFD. One wonders if there is a playable prototype cart out there with a playable and near final build of this first (and conceptually different) Conker's game....

There is in fact a playable prototype version but it is still owned and kept by Rare... locked away... Never to be seen by us :(

In rare replay they actually say they still have the game in their archives even though there is no versions recorded on the collectors market (that I could find). Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDnvVbdEs7c
