What's the oldest video game, on any system (computer/console/arcade/etc) that you still play? Myself, I would have said probably Manic Miner or PSION Scrabble, as I still play them from time to time, when on the train (on the PSP's version of FUSE) mainly, and they are from 1983. But I do sometimes still play Mr Do! (my favourite ever arcade machine), which is from 1982, so I'll have to say Mr Do!, so the oldest video game I still play is thirty-one years old now.

I do occasionally play older arcade games that Mr Do!, such as Pacman, which came out in 1980, but I very rarely play this (usually to test a new version of MAME, for whatever machine I've just installed it to), and it's not a game I really enjoy nowadays, so I won't count it.

So, Mr Do!, and thirty one years for me. What's yours?

Note: If you're unsure what year a game was released in, then go to

gamefaqs.com

and enter the game title into the search box (top right hand side of the page), and click on the name when it's found (make sure it's for the right machine, or 'ARC' if it's for the arcade version), then click "Release data" to see the release date of the game. That's how I found out the release dates for Mr Do!, and Pacman.

lol good thread!

I have a Commodore 64 that I got as a kid for Christmas, 1982 or 83 I think

Its still set up on an old tv and gets played very rarely, i have a huge collection of games for it but they use the tape deck system and some of them can take 45 mins to load!!

I also have a Commodore Pet 4032 with a TWIN 5.25" floppy disc drive!! from 1980 :w00t:

This was an ex College machine my dad bought from his work when they were eventually upgraded and while there aren't any commercial games for it, we do have a few games written in basic that get played now and again..

A very addictive golf game and a speed typing game where you type the alphabet as fast as you can (my record is 1.93 seconds) :D

The oldest game that I play quite a bit is probably the original Counter-Strike. I play it maybe once a week, depending. I also play a diverse selection of PC games while testing systems. Ranging from the early 80s to late 90s, but I don't play any of them consistently at all.

Not sure if it qualifies but i have ported an old black & white (!) arcade game called SeaWolf to the Nintendo DS and i still play that occasionally.
As far as i can remember, this was also the very first video game i ever played in 1976 or 1977.

This is a tough one for me. I think the oldest stuff I play on a somewhat regular basis would be a handful of PS1 games from the mid 90s, but every once in awhile I play a few SNES era games, like Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Mario World, so that pushes it back to early 90s. Don't play much of anything from before that.

The oldest games for me would be the :n64: . Although I do own a couple of Sega master Systems, I rarely break these out of there boxes.

If you count games I've bought on the Wii U virtual console then games from NES days, Balloon Fight and SNES F-Zero would be the oldest games I've played of late.

Worms Armageddon on PC (1999)

If I had a fully compatible (old) computer, I'd be playing Quake 1 and Sim City 2000 Special Edition (mid-90s)

For Sim City 2000 I guess you could try this http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/GAMES:SimCity_2000 or buy it from GOG

I still play Sonic Mega Collection Plus a fair bit, so all the classic nineties Sonic games get a lot of love from me. They were the first games I ever played, and nearly 20 years on I'm still playing them!

Yeah, GOG is great for older games since they try to make them as compatible with modern PCs as possible. My only issue with DOSBox is that it runs everything in the resolutions that the games supported whenever they were released, so you have weird resolutions being upscaled into 1920x1080 or something.

Original Super Mario Bros. on SNES and Wii (All-stars)
I currently own humble, but nice collections of NTSC-U; NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii

Currently taking a break from a 2012 collecting binge.

The barbarian fighting game masterpiece for the Super Nintendo known as Weaponlord (released in 1995) is probably the oldest video game that I still play regularly. It's the reason that I keep a SNES connected to my CRT TV as a matter of fact since an HD remake of it has yet to be released on any of the newer consoles. :(

I think the oldest original game that I still play would be the Japanese Super Mario 64, it's the only game that I own that was released before I was born (The NA version was released a month after :P ). But I also play the original Super Mario Bros on my GBA and so the cart itself isn't very old.

As far as I can tell by brainstorming, Donkey Kong for Gameboy is probably the oldest game I play from time to time. I seem to pick it up at least every couple of years for a play through. It was made in 94.
