A big parcel from Japan arrived today. Replacing my old Daiei Hawks with a better condition one, and finally the blue/clear N64, so I now have the complete set of colour variations for Jap N64

It is the black and grey one, Scooter. I dont think it's as rare as people talk it up to be. Ive seen a few of them for sale in the last month. This one I paid about $10 for. Maybe because it looks so similar to the black one, and looking front on, the only difference is the Japanese writing. I learnt Japanese for quite a few years, it's been quite helpful! :)

I've got a friend in Japan that can source things locally or online and can buy things from Yahoo auctions on my behalf. (skipping all the fees) They know the types of things Im looking for, so they keep an eye out on their travels or send some photos when they come across a bunch of stuff.

It is getting harder to find things though, too many Japanese resellers buying what they can to sell overseas.

Would you be able to help me track down one of those grey / black controllers CIB?

I can keep an eye out for you, and ask around. They tend to sell very quickly from what I have seen, so I can't guarantee anything.

Just bought a brand new mint condition Red Astroboy Gameboy Light boxed console.

Will post pictures when it arrives in the next few days / weeks (just bought it right this second for a very decent price!)

Just so you all know, Gameboy Lights are the rarest Gameboys around, and being a Japanese only release, I am stocked!
do they make gb lites for the us? or are those gameboy pockets?
Gameboy lights were an japanese only release. It wasn't a really good seller, but there was very limited numbers made and quite rare limited editions models made too.

Nice one picking up the grey black controller CIB Kelamy. I think DDR has a list of what's been found as far as the CIB black grey controller go. Nice to see that they are available and for $10, quite the steal. I feel sorry for those people who have that boxed that paid through the :donkey: for it.... :D

Thanks DeeMoney. I couldnt agree more. There needs to be more information out there with some of these things, so sellers aren't getting away with convincing people things are 'extremely rare' and 'only X amount exist', when it isn't the case.

Too many people want to rush out and buy the first one they see just because they haven't seen it for sale for a certain time, this is what the japanese love to see. I was in japan recently and even though I couldn't speak Japanese, one of the store owners was saying how he only puts up 1 thing at a time per month to maximize his profits. (This was not for the store he owned or worked at, but for his only buying and reselling either through the store or as a hobby outside of the store). He was one of the few people that could speak english very well.

You will also see nearly everything CIB in japanese retro stores (Apart from the massive amount of super famicon carts for some reason) but their prices are just the same prices as ebay resellers. (Well in Electric Town anyway located in Tokyo)

Just my 2 cents of ranting for no reason what-so-ever. :o

This week was a good week for me! In the last 2 days I made 3 deals.

These are the new members! Most are doubles, but there are a few new additions, notably Duke Nukem, a game of high importance for me that I've seen a few times but finally got for a bargain. And Majora's Mask, one of the games that I so stupidly (I was young...) sold a long ago and only shows up for high values now.

Oh, and yes, you saw it right, 2 days, 2 Conkers :D I felt so happy holding the cartridge(s). I never thought I'd find one cart in years, let alone 2.

This morning i went into the city to pick up my Pikmin 3 pre-order and also to meet a guy who sold me his copy of LSDJ, a rare (unlicensed) music sequencing tool for the original Gameboy.

Posted Image

When i bought the Pikmin game i casually informed if they had a nice preorder bonus (no) or maybe anything Nintendo-related i could have.
Salesperson pointed to a large DKCR 3D floor standee and said that was about to be thrown out so i was welcome to take it if i wanted to.
It wasn't easy to transport it safely and dry thru the rain on my Vespa scooter but we both made it home in one piece.
You guys know i'm particularily fond of Nintendo tat you can't buy in shops so this a very welcome addition to my collection.
Goes to show once more that it doesn't hurt to just ask nicely... you might get what you want.

@bluedogrulez, Deemoney, yeah, maybe it's time for that stock avatar to go :)

To be honest, I'm not sure yet. Selling should be the smart thing to do to help with the numbers and I'll probably do that eventually.

But for now I'll just leave them both in the shelve for a while, I'll decide some time later :)

Looks nice :) May I ask where you normally end up getting stuff when you ask the employees? I've been looking for a nice display piece but every time I ask local game stores if they have anything they are throwing out they say that that they aren't allowed to give me anything due to policies :(

Most of the times it's true, especially EB Games, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Last time my roomie asked the rep and he handed over a bunch of promo posters including Watch Dogs and Diablo 3, pretty nice!
