Another haul! Went to a Retro Game store about 20 mile away just to check out if they had anything good in. Looted some N64 stuff I needed. Prices were a bargain really given the condition. F1 Racing being the ultimate bargain for £10. I've seen this go for over £100. It's one of those tricky titles to come across. I think they have failed to value it properly because it's one of those titles that's difficult to get information on e.g not many, if any, on sold listings on eBay...

MRC: £7
F1 Racing: £10
Bugs Life: £15

I wish those green N3DSXLs were still available.

At this point I'm holding out hope we get a decent limited edition for Fire Emblem Echoes.

Wait... is that a BRAND NEW RIVER CITY RANSOM GAME!? :w00t: When did this come out!? I've been to GameStop twice recently AND I go to the Walmat gaming section regularly and I've never seen this game on any of their racks. Now a part of me wishes I didn't spend all of my weekly gaming budget on this stuff.

Posted Image

Though I'm still super psyched to finally have some KOF games in my collection. I bought that one a day before everything else in the picture. I was hoping I could play these games with the Wiimote so I could use the money spent on the Classic controller towards another SNK collection I had my eyes on but there was absolutely no way I could ever get comfortable playing that way (whether the Nunchuk was attached or not). Still, I'm glad I bought the controller instead since I can now play Guilty Gear XX once again (which also doesn't work well with the Wiimote).

So it looks like I have a nice group of gaming stuff here... but oh no! I feel a great disturbance in the force.

A demo!? But... I wanted the full game. :( The sad part is that I actually opened the case before purchasing the thing to make sure the game was inside and was completely satisfied when I saw the words "SOCOM" written on the UMD while completely missing "DEMO DISC" all in caps. Didn't even realize my mistake until I booted it up and saw some text saying "demo mission" or something like that. So take it from your friendly neighborhood fox, ladies and gentlemen: when you buy a used game anywhere, be sure to THOROUGHLY check if the right game is inside before making the purchase.

That's probably because - as far as I know - it's never been sold at a retail store... only online, and primarily through Natsume via Amazon Marketplace.

@floorcat - That's kind of a shame that they couldn't get it on store shelves (if they tried to) but I've been using Amazon for years so this isn't a big problem. Definitely have to scoop it up when I have the money for it.

@No64DD - Monatary value-wise, I wasn't able to find anything on this demo so i have little clue on how rare or valuable it is although, if some of the prices on these other demo discs are anything to go by, it doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Not that I was planning to sell it. I just wanted the game because my younger brother and I used to play it often when he had a PSP. Luckily, the full game goes for peanuts online.

@bluedogrulez - Thanks for the kind words. It's not something I'll lose sleep over, though. Of course, finding this bad boy at Goodwill today will certainly help me sleep easier tonight.

I knew I said I had already spent up my gaming budget... but there was no way I was resisting a Genesis arcade stick for the price they were selling it for. And it even came with thr manual and a mail-in form for six free issues of Sega Vision magazine. Can't wait to redeem that! I've already tested the arcade stick out and it's currently the best stick I own. Everything works great and feels just right. The mode button is useless though since there's a switch that... well, switches from the 6 button set up to the 3 button set up and vice-versa. Also, the manual comes with a list of games not recommended with the stick but DecapAttack (which was on the list) controlled just fine. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

Oh and I forgot to mention this a few posts ago, but I had also bought some eShop points to buy two NES beat 'em ups: Mighty Final Fight and River City Ransom. I already knew I'd enjoy the latter, but Mighty Final Fight was also really good stuff from what little I tried of it. Not sure if it's worth the $150+ a physical cart goes for online, though.

Did another convention last sunday. Went there broke, left broke again. Got all of these thru trades or by spending the money made from selling.

Missing on the picture; a loose Castlevania IV.

Notes;
- The top row gameboy games are just boxes, some with manual
- Castlevania III is a US copy, since PAL copies are pretty uncommon,
- Animal Crossing for the Wii is an opened big box, but all contents are sealed,
- The game and watch is missing the battery cover,

Yessir! Dropped yesterday to little fanfare and I blame that on the episodic initial release. All of the gaming outlets have talked about the game already so no big to-do about it now. Oh well, now I just have to decide whether I play it next after FF XV or slip RE 7 in there first.

Man I should really wait until orders have arrived and just do one post but hey it keeps this thread moving...

My penultimate pickup for this month (2 more surprise titles in transit from the US I think you'all like). Totally blown through my non-saving disposable income for the month so no more pickups until February. Need to remain disciplined (quite difficult when the end is in sight)...

Batman in decent shape. A harder title to come across.

Today's haul is a whole heap of arcade classics.

Posted Image

First off, if anyone remembers the post I made about a week ago, Samurai Shodown Anthology was the game I had to give up in order to get the Wii classic controller and, yes, this is that exact same copy of SSA. I guess the locals here aren't into the classics like I am. Good. More games for me. :) It's going to be fun trying to beat the first game with everything in tact (the Genesis port I own took out Earthquake) and playing five sequels it got for the first time is sure to be a treat for a fighting game fan like myself.

Before getting that, though, I checked out a few pawn shops to see if they got anything new and was surprised to see one of them have a row of PSP games I hadn't seen there before. The bad news is this pawn shop almost always checks on eBay for their prices on games as soon as you bring it to the counter. Today, however, the cashier was either being generous or lazy because he saw the two PSP games I had and sold them to me for peanuts. I've been a fan of Gradius since getting the third game with my SNES in the mid-2000s and I haven't played any version of Outrun 2 since I went on that cruise over a decade ago, so getting both of these for such a low price feels really nice.

Samurai Shodown Anthology is indeed a treat and a must-have for any Wii owner who enjoys fighting games. It's funny, so many people say the Wii is a console for casuals but with titles like SSA in its catalog nothing could be farther from the truth. I really enjoy the Samurai Shodown games because they offer up a nice alternative to the Super Smash Bros. games that many Nintendo fans are accustomed to playing. EnvyFox, what controller do you intend to use when playing the SamSho Anthology? Also, what are your thoughts on SS VI?

SNK Arcade Classics Vol 1 is also a must have, IMO.

I have heard less complementary things about Metal Slug Anthology.

Well, to be fair, the Wii was clearly geared towards casual players (Nintendo themselves said the goal was to get those who don't really consider themselves gamers a chance to play), but yeah I have about 10+ games in my personal library that says the hardcore crowd can get a piece of the action as well. I guess it's like when people said the SNES was for little kids when it had games like Super Metroid and Killer Instinct as exclusives. Even Kirby's Dreamland 3 has a final boss that will slit it's own body and use it's blood as a projectile.

Now that I own a Wii Classic controller, I'll be using that for all of my fighting games (at least until I run into an arcade fight stick for the system at a steal). I tried using the Wiimote on KOF and Guilty Gear before buying the Classic controller and it just couldn't be done. I can only imagine Samurai Shodown would be no different.

Finally, from what I've played of SSVI, it seems like they've come a long way as far as balancing out the difficulty is concerned. In the first game, there came a point where the regular fighters were much more of a challenge than the game's final boss and that shouldn't be. Granted, Amakusa is still a total pushover, but he's not the final boss this time. That honor goes to Demon Gaoh, who outright humiliated me. I'm sure, if I kept playing, I could have beaten him eventually, but I wasn't even supposed to play for that long. I'll be ready for him next time. :yeah: Besides that, there are a ridiculous amount of playable characters (including... little animals?), plenty of choices on how you want the power gauge to fill up and fun gameplay. A shame that your opponent doesn't get cut open anymore when they die, though.

First LRG game. Unfortunately the postal service seems to have chewed it up in their machines; the package had a hole worn clean through it, which you can see damaged the box. The disc was also loose inside the box but wasn't scratched.

Last pickup for the month. Wasn't cheap, $180! But it is pretty minty. The PAL one easily goes for 2-3 times more and that's just way too excessive on what is already excessive, but this is the price you pay, when you take on the full set challenge which for whatever reason I find myself doing! It's great fun.
