Mark, I bought DK Country Returns from Gamestop with a pre-order, and got a banana pouch for the Wii-mote, I'll post pictures of it when I get home from work later today :mario:

I just looked on EBay, wow... I didn't know they're going for such high prices ($25-$40). I guess they're quite the collector's item!

got the Super Mario All Stars Collectors Edition today. Not as exciting as DKCR but certainly a must-have for collectors and Mario fans.

Hate to burst your bubble Mark, but that's what I thought too when I first got it. I'm on world 5 now, and I'm sad to say...

mmm well yes maybe i dunno but i think the same more or less applies to the original DKC games. And level design isnt the end all for me... i couldn't play myself out of a wet paper bag even if my life depended on it so every level is quite challenging for me anyhow! the visuals, music and f/x are still brilliant IMHO and the whole thing oozes quality and fun.

I got the last of the packages i had on the way today.

Included was the Japanese Gold controller (complete in gold box)!

Theres actually a funny story behind it....

So my mail usually comes around the same time everyday. Today, i happened to look out my bedroom window (upstairs) right as the mailwomen pulled up to my mailbox. I notice her grab a package and start to put it in the mailbox. Clearly the box was too big too fit in the mailbox, but did this women care? NO! She starts trying to jam it in the box in every which angle she possibly could.. Once i saw that I BOOKED down the stairs ran out and grabbed it from her. I told her next time it doesnt fit right away, bring it up to the door (which is what they do anyways) I guess this women was lazy and could care less what was in the package and whether or not she was damaging it or not.

Luckily the box wasnt damaged by her actions but jeesh, i wanted to smack the women right then and there haha

What an idiot of a post service worker! I can not stand when things do not make it to me or get damaged on the way. Shipping is so expensive and an issue comes up every so often.

I bought a Smoke console with a mint controller, a silver gamecube + matching controller, and a blue gamecube with a matching controller + memory card 251 AND Turok 1 CIB Mint all for $70

I sold Metal Warrios for the SNES for $60...not bad at all.

First fleamarket finds of the day: (items in italics are for trade purposes)

NES: 6 dust sleeves, Hogan's Alley, Gumshoe, TMHT 1, SMB 2, SMB / Duck Hunt, Star Wars, .
Nintendo 64: ExciteBike 64, PilotWings 64
SNES: loose console

The second, slighty more up-market, fleamarket with specialised semi-professional dealers (and much higher prices!) :
NES: Megaman 2, NewZealand Story
Nintendo 64: Extreme G XG2, BattleTanx Global Assault
SNES: Magic Sword, Jungle Strike, Super Putty, Tom & Jerry, Populous.
Large "Diablo - Baal's Minion Of Destruction" figure (approx. 20 cm) and four Capcom licensed Streetfighter figures; all MIB and only 12 euro's for the lot.

Hogan's Alley and Gumshoe are both very common in the USA but quite rare here in Euroland so i'm pretty pleased that i've added them to my collection.
The SNES games are all very uncommon to rare to find in the wild.

Oh yes, i also found a large stack of old gaming magazines. at that point i had very little money left so i had to pick the ten best; some English Ninty mags and a couple of Dutch (!) Super Nintendo magazines i never even knew existed. As if i needed yet another collection target :)

Last but not least, two vintage LCD handhelds from the Game & Watch era:
Posted Image Posted Image

Streetfighter figures (there are 3 versions of the same 2 girls in this series; i got 4 out of the 6 but just one pair)
Posted Image

Behold Baal's Minion Of Destruction! articulated limbs, moveable claws and head, very detailed and scary!

Here is my snatch of the week!
I was in an indoor flea market and saw this. I just had to have it. It was only $1.50.

This is the first black version of the Original Game Boy that I have actually seen. It is in prime condition and works great.

It was part of the "Play it loud" series in the OGB line.

great find, Retro Junkie! :yeah:
it took me a long time to find the Black edition. The nicest one, collector-wise, is the Clear plastic edition that shows all the innards. Kewl!

UPDATE: the UK magazines i bought contained a number of very nice free fold-out posters... i've scored a large Zelda OOT poster, a large door poster with the sexy Perfect Dark heroine (whatshername?) and a Pokemon picture on the other side, a huge Wipeout 64 poster with tip sheet on the back and a giant SNES Jurassic Park 2 poster. Excellent stuff to decorate my game room! :)

i'll have to check.. to be brutally honest the posters were lying loose among a bunch of mags. i just took some with my mags, sight unseen, hoping they would be any good.
UPDATE ive got issue 12 and 27. But i concentrated on the older mags from the SNES era.

just 50 Eurocents each. Most are in excellent condition. I'll probably go back tomorrow morning to this market (its a two-day affair) and pick up the rest of the Nintendo magazines and some N64 carts i had to leave behind b/c i ran out of money :)

So i headed back to that fleamarket early today but the lady with the Nintendo magazines wasn't there! very disappointing :(
yesterday she did mention she'd be back next month so i'll just have to wait... poor me!
BUT ! i did find two Gamecube games (ISS 2 and Viewtiful Joe 2) and some N64 cartridges that are not very common here (Premier Manager 64 +manual, Supercross 2000 +manual, Michael Owen's World League Soccer 2000, Centre Court Tennis) plus a bunch of 'loose' manuals... some of those clearly belonging to carts this guy sold me last month! Proving my point that most sellers don't know and/or care what they are selling.

I spotted a life-size (!) Jak statue but had to leave it behind... my Vespa can't cope with such a load.
I did pick up a huge (60 cm) Crash Bandicoot plushie and Princess Peach and Turtles plushies (both approx. 25 cm) for just a couple of Euros.
Posted Image

But things got even better... i also found another vintage Cresta LCD game:
Posted Image

And, last but not least... a Nintendo Game & Watch 'Donkey Kong Jr.' table-top ! Not as mint (the battery cover is missing) and certainly not as cheap as i would have liked @ 30 Euro but still a very nice find and a good price. They usually sell for 75 Euro / 100$ and upwards IF you can find one.

Ive arranged to meet with someone from craigslist tomorrow to sell some games.

-Pokemon Stadium
-Super Smash Brothers
-Super Mario 64
-Donkey Kong 64
-Goldeneye 007
-Majora's Mask (Possibly)

All Carts only. Unfortunately pokemon stadium and Majoras mask are the only doubles i have, but right now im focusing on controllers/systems. Im also getting a little more than double for what i paid for them, so that helps :D.
I have the boxes complete for SSB,SM64,007, so it shouldnt be hard to find those carts again later down the road for a good deal.

Northern Europe has been snowed in again so no fleamarkets for me this weekend :(
But i did come across a nice hooded sweater with lots of NES and A2600 controllers and other 'old skool' gaming icons... totally unlicensed but very cool garb!

So I had mentioned in another thread that I had been looking for the box for Zelda Oracle of Ages (GBC). I had the manual and the game but was always missing the box.

Anyway, so yesterday I passed by this new place that's just opened up here in Joburg, and it specializes in older video game systems and games. And lo and behold amongst some other GameBoy games was a complete copy of Oracle of Ages starring me right in the face! It cost only 49 ZAR (that's about $7) so I picked it up right away.

The thing is, at first glance everything seems ok with the game cart looking legit and playing fine (I tested it in-store with my GBA system) and the cover of the box looking ok as well. But when you turn the box over at the back, the wording and content seem kind of odd and out of place. I mean "thank you traweler..."? Is that the Engrish version of that word?

So for those of you with a copy of the game, perhaps you could tell me if the wording in the 2nd pic matches up to your copy (highly unlikely, eh? ). Methinks somehow though this might not be the genuine thing. :P

Oh well, at least I've got a decent shape box for the game now, I guess.
