yep, it's a fake. those #$%@ pirates are pretty good but they always slip up on one or two details. In this case: there is no Nintendo logo on the front of the box. Some general hints and tips:

That sucks if it is fake ![]() I have just sold 3 Funtastic Consoles (Fire, Ice, Jungle) with 2 matching controllers each and the cords for $60 each. I also sold a SNES console with 8 bad sports games for $60 as well. Lastly, my Millennium 2000 controller sold on ebay for $160 - it was not in mint condition but it was in good condition and worked well. I bought (on boxing day) 9 games (7 Wii and 2 GC). They were on a MASSIVE SALE at Rogers Plus for BUY 1 GET 2 FREE (used games only)!!! I was able to get for $5 a piece: Viewtiful Joe 2 (GC) Pokemon Coliseum (GC) Rock Band 2 (Wii) Tomb Raider Anniversary (Wii) Red Steel 2 (Wii) Zak and Wiki (Wii) Nights Journey into Dreams (Wii) Donkey Kong Junglebeat New Play Control (Wii) Resident Evil 4 Wii Ediiton (Wii) And Furthermore, EB Games was selling Animal Crossing and Wii Music Brand New for $10 each so I bought those I believe the sale at Rogers Plus is on all week so definitely try to go if you have one in your area! Used movies are on for the same deal! I have heard of people getting Fallout New Vegas, Black Ops, and Assassins Creed II for just $40! |

Yeah well at least I only spent that $7. And I was only looking for a box to house the manual and cart for that game. So it's not too bad. The thing is there aren't many options open to me in terms of reporting that store for selling fake goods. Here in SA the laws that deal with those types of transgressions are very lax, to say the least. @ Mk II, very useful tips you've posted there. Thanks! I will definately use those tips and refer to them whenever I'm about to purchase other such games that I feel might be a little 'dodgy'.

Just added Capcom Classics Mini Mix (GBA) to my collection today... just 3 euro for a sealed CIB game; i simply couldn't resist.
glad you like 'm. i've actually made a webpage with lots of examples of real & fake (GBA) cartridges but never came around to publishing it. The piracy problem is really bad here in Holland. If you buy a job lot of 10 used GBA games, chances are 4 to 6 of those will be counterfeit copies. And these usually suffer a lot of problems like missing levels, no save ram or battery etc. A small example of how to spot fake GBA carts: ![]() this looks OK at first glance but when you take a closer look things fall apart very quickly! see the crappy moulded "Gameboy Advance" logo? looks nothing like the real thing. Note the shiny label, weak colours and the unreadable smudged seal. Nintendo always has excellent quality control and would never release such shoddy printwork. The label sticker itself is a bit too small and not properly centered. Look at the badly cropped background image (small part of Donkey Kong still visible) and how the game logo is partly obscured by the slanted ESRB rating info... very shoddy work, everything is just thrown together. ![]() the backside isnt much better... look at the terrible Nintendo logo, wrong in every possible way (font, spacing). The pirates did manage to use the correct model number AGB-002 but there's no spacing between the words in the message because they used a very similar but not quite right font. |

Yeah so I just put the two Oracle of Ages carts together for comparison. The one on the left is the cart I've always had, and to the left is that pirated copy. Taking Mk II's advice into account, what he specifies in his hints and tips post, clearly shows the inconsistencies one should look out for.

Sold a couple of SNES carts (Goof Troop, Nigel Mansell's World Championship and F Zero), a loose Diddy Kong Racing cart and Rayman 2 (CIB). UPDATE: wasted part of my Xmas bonus money on a sleek black Wii Mario Kart pack... now i've got all three colours! Also bought a light blue DSi because i suspect these wont last long once the 3DS has arrived. UPDATE 2: added 3 games to my collection: Metroid - Other M, Sin And Punishment Successor Of The Skies and Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. The latter is only a shelf-filler of course but @ 5 euro i couldn't resist. The other two were also on sale so i'm guessing they didnt sell as well as anticipated. UPDATE 3: just sold a NES with 2 controllers, Zapper and three games (Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt, Kirby's Adventure and Gauntlet II) for the princely sum of 45 Euro. Profits have already been spent this afternoon on Sin & Punishment. love that game BTW, it's really jaw-droppingly gourgeous. Just sold a Zelda Ocarina Of Time (CIB) Edited by Mk II, Jan 3 2011, 07:09 AM.

So i picked up a couple more mario all stars at the flea market this weekend. Regret not buying 3 and getting the 4th free. Oh well, i had no clue the demand for this game was that high! I sold them both within the matter of hours... I highly suggest picking up as many of these as you can if they are 45 or under. The value will continue to increase as nintendo's not realeasing any more (at least not 25th anniversary ones). You bet your but im going back to the flea market next week and getting 4. Thats if they dont raise the price on me again : P. I have a feeling they would tell me they only had 3 left anyways. just so they wouldnt be giving one away... ---------------- I also snagged a couple of those blue tron controllers for the 360 last week. I got the last ones in both stores i went too . I helped out another member by the name of Shangyou since they didnt have them over hear him. I plan on getting more of these controllers. I just have to find time to take the long rides, as they are all a half hour or so away : \ -Corey |

I was at Walmart today picking up some light bulbs during my lunch break today, and decided to wander over to the video game area to see if they had anything good or cheap games - as I looked inside the locked game cabinets I saw something red on the bottom hidden behind some Wii Goldeneye boxed sets. Wouldn't you know it, it was a copy of Wii Super Mario All-Stars. Of course I got them to open up the cabinet so I could buy it, but not before asking them to look a bit more to see if there were more copies of it under there. But no dice, there was just the 1 copy. I walked out of the store paying $29.99 + tax for the game. Originally didn't plan on pre-ordering or getting the game from GameStop because I figured there would be enough copies to go around - and then when they started selling like crazy and now going for $75+ on EBay I thought there was no way I would get my hands on a copy (or want to pay that much). Lucky me, not only did I find a copy of the game, but got it for next to nothing. I'm stopping by the local GameStop after I get off work today to pickup their last boxed set of the Tron exclusive Wii controller. They're already sold out of Wii Mario All-Stars. |

where do you find the numbers for the tron controllers? i got myself some of the 360 ones... Also, great find on the Mario All Stars. The first few i got were only 25 at my local flea market. They realized the demand for them and bumped it up to 35. Cant wait to go back next week and grab some more! -Corey |

Took me a while to find it, and I had to Google a few pictures. On the Wii controllers, it is listed on the sticker that is on the backside of the controller itself... so you have to take the controller out of the package. The good thing about this collector's set is that there's no "factory seal" like shrink-wrap or tape or anything. If you are careful enough, you can take out the controller to look at the number and put it all back the same way and no one can tell the difference. |

ahh, i gotcha. I think im gonna play it safe and leave it how it is haha. I dont need to know the number. I just went on the gamestops website, and the wii motes are actually still available to order. They must not be as popular as the PS3 and the 360. I know 20,000 was released for each. -Corey |

indeed... i dont really need the money to fund my habit and it would not be enough anyhow I soon discovered that the best way to get lots of games cheaply was to buy complete sets with games, keep the games i didnt have and sell off the remainder. Now i just buy almost anything i can find on the fleamarket circuit. But then you do need a bit of money to build up stock, not everything will sell at once (i recently sold a game i bought three years ago). i've currently got 20+ Nintendo consoles plus controllers etc and a lot of game cartridges in stock. |

The first fleamarket for today yielded a reasonable result: Nintendo 64 Rumble Pak, Turok Dinosaur Hunter, Super Mario 64 SNES NBA Live 95 Gamecube black console & controller, A/V cable, PSU, black Mem Card 251, Wavebird (no receiver), Super Mario Sunshine (loose). NES console, PSU, R/F cable, 1 controller, Zapper, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers (boxed), Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt items in italics were bought for trade /sale purposes. i'm off to the second fleamarket now... later! UPDATE: the Gamecube turns out to have a Gameboy Player attached! (no disc tho) Edited by Mk II, Jan 8 2011, 06:19 AM.

Busy flea market mans!! I guess things might be different now, but all the flea markets I've ever been to only had like, hand-made baskets, rugs, and antiques... ... though I guess we've come to a point now where video game systems could easily be considered "antique".
