It really was broken. The bottom corner of the connector pins was completely broken off. I bought it from EB, and took it home and noticed it when it didn't work. I had already lost my receipt, so I ended up keeping it. I thought it might be useful someday

Thanks for the suggestions, I will try it if I run across another nightmare sticker ;)

yeah, that is REALLY broken :)

makes you wonder tho what happened to it.. i suppose something like that could happen if you accidentally kick a cartridge thats inserted into the console.

Who knows what happened. It suprised me. It is one of only 2 games from EB/Gamestop that did not work for me. The other was Psi-Ops. I guess I should have checked the connector pins first before buying. I just trusted EB. Now I always check the connector pins :D

That was what I was thinking too. The very mild damage is on the back. I got about 95% of the rest of the adhesive off today at work. I of course could not get the sticker off where it overlaps the official back label. I just need a game bit. I have a broken copy of Blitz around here somewhere, It would be a good candidate! :D
Its worth a try, I think you need a special screwdriver to open N64 Carts though?

yes, it's usually called a "game bit". The same bit will open NES, SNES, GB, N64 and Sega carts. You need a similar but slightly bigger bit for opeing up Nintendo consoles.

Ahh you should have left the blockbuster sticker on it. The game was a blockbuster rental only so the sticker had reasons to stay.

Nevermind, you already said your not reselling it anyway so it doesn't really matter.

The thought of leaving it crossed my mind. Sadly, I had already started trying to peel it off when I realized that alcohol would take all of the ink off of the sticker. It would have been alright to just have a clear sticker on the back. I could have lived with that :)

Wii Super Paper Mario, Resident Evil Archives (both CIB)
SNES loose console
plus a Pokemon Master Trainer board game by Milton-Bradley (CIB) :pika:

slightly disappointing yield altho im very very happy with the used Super Paper Mario. It's in immaculate condition, with unused Nintendo points! And anyway, ive got another fleamarket lined up for tomorrow :yeah:

Just got back from my (becoming) weekly trip to Game Haven. I had about made up my mind to re-buy Banjo Kazooie unless I found something else cool. I I was about to leave and ask for Banjo-Kazooie that was in the counter case. I had seen it there last week. That is when I noticed Banjo Tooie right next to it for the same price. So I got it instead. I have never played it, and have not seen it for sale used in the last few years here. I got it for $14.99 :D

The cartridge is in great shape, though it appears somebody wrote on the sticker with a pen. No ink apparently came out, but it kind of engraved in to the sticker a bit. It isn't obvious unless you are real close.

wow, thats an excellent price for that cart... i once turned it down @ 10 euro and im pulling my hair ever since because i can only find it at around 25 to 30 euro now.

ooh, i hate that! thats why i always take a magnifying glass when im out hunting for games now. On the other hand: i would always pick up a Banjo-Tooie cart, even with WOL.

Yeah, seemed a great price to me. I regularly run in to it on ebay for over $20. Yeah, I would have gotten it even if I had noticed it before hand :D

Quick update, I was able to make a game bit using the burning the end of a pen method. Thanks to Turok, my Indian Jones now has a nice new back. It looks as near mint as possible. Apparently I lost or threw away that broken Blitz game. The pens were softer than the recommended type, so I had to make 2 of them to finish taking apart and re-tightening. :D

Another fleamarket today. I didnt find a lot at first (boxed gameboy Pocket and one DS game) and was getting rather disappointed. I even started to buy junk like Pokemon figures :)
But when i got near the exit i noticed a guy selling nothing but games... Xbox, Playstation 2/3 and Wii games. But while i was checking out his stall he got out a banana box full of Gamecube games. "Now its getting interesting" i said to him, "im looking for the old stuff". "ooh, but ive got lots more" he said and pulled out a box full of SNES and N64 carts. I hit the motherload! he told me he had just bought up the inventory of a gameshop that went bankrupt. All the carts still had the old pricestickers on them. I took my time burrowing thru the box and picked out 19 N64 and SNES carts, most of them hard to find 'in the wild' if not rare. No extraordinary finds (UPDATE not true, there are some rare titles like Q-Bert 3), some label damage here & there but if you've already got 264 SNES games like me, its extremely rare to find 15 new carts all at once. And the guy gave me a very reasonable price. So i'm over the moon ! Its gonna be a challenge to clean the SNES and N64 carts. lots of rental and price stickers, dirty cases, the works... a lotta work, but its rewarding :D

SNES Road Runner's Death Valley Rally, Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball, Skuljagger, Extra Innings, Rocketeer, Doomsday Warrior, Dino City, Q-bert 3 (8 NTSC carts + 1 dust guard), Blackhawk, Fever Pitch Soccer, Mohawk & Headphone Jack, Pacman 2, Kevin Keegan's Player Manager, Phalanx, Realm (7 PAL carts).
Nintendo 64 S.C.A.R.S., NFL Quarterback Club 98, Mace - The Dark Age, Army Men - Sarge's Heroes.
DS Drawn To Life - Het Nieuwe Hoofdstuk (CIB)
GameBoy Pocket pink console (CIB), Mickey Mouse, cartridge case.

UPDATE i've cleaned all the carts inside & out; without causing any further label damage.
And i just sold a Super Nintendo with two controllers and a Super Mario World cart for a reasonable price and a healthy profit - gotta earn back some of the money i spent this morning :)

I traded in the following:

Mario Kart DS (I still have another)
Brain Age 2
Sponge Bob Boating Bash
Build a Bear Workshop
EA Playground

All towards Pokemon Black. I received an extra 50% because I was trading towards Black. So I had $45 in credit. It was more than enough to get it, so I also picked up Assassin's Creed II Discovery for DS as well for just a few dollars more :D

just imagine: you spent a lot of years and money to become a professional programmer and get that dream job as a game developer. Then you get assigned to the Build A Bear Workshop project... the horror! Its enough to make a grown man cry

No joke! Poor programmers!

When I found it, I thought it would likely only bring a couple of dollars traded in. It normally brings $6, but I got $9 out of it today.

I was quite happy with that :D

Anyhoo, i just sold a Sega Megadrive (aka Genesis) set with two controllers and four Sonic carts (1,2,3 and Spinball). Made a very healthy profit despite the low price.

And i received a couple of lovely Super Mario plushies from PlayAsia today... these guys are really well made, excellent quality and as "true to life" as plushies get.

That is cool you managed to get that slip cover, Mk II :D

Another day, another DS game in a used car. A friend of mine found Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story in a suburban. He being the nice guy he is, gave it to me :D It seems to be rated quite highly, and brings a decent bit for trade in. The real question is, do I keep it and Mario Hoops, or do I trade them in to get Pokemon White to go with my Black?

OK, after watching video on Bowser's Inside Story, I think I will trade it in for White. I should be able to get it for only $9 or $10 after trading that in. It is an RPG style game, that doesn't really appeal to me. Still, it is cool to find and I may get White out of it :D
I will likely keep Hoops, as it could be a fun multi-player game with family.

OK, I traded Bowser's Inside Story for a whopping $11, which was about $6 less than I was expecting. Anyhow, I traded it towards a new copy of Assassin's Creed Bloodlines for PSP. After the trade, I payed like $10 I think. I am happy now :D

I decided to wait on Pokemon White. I should finish Black first, and then get it for a replay. Who knows, by then I may have found a copy of White in a car

Bowser's Inside Story

i think you should have given it a try at least... it is very highly rated and will probably become one of those hard to find gems (because it didnt sell in huge numbers like Mario Kart et al).

I probably would have, but I watched a game play video. I don't usually like those style of games.

You know the type...
Encounter an enemy
Go through a couple of menus, select a move
Watch for 20 or 30 seconds for the move to play out
Repeat until they are dead
Take another 10 steps and repeat the above process.

I also own Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I was given it, and have never played it for the same reason as above. It is just not my cup of tea.
I love my Pokemon games and all, but I just have never been an rpg guy.

I am sure I could have waited and it gone up in value, but I am psyched up for Assassin's Creed Bloodlines and wanted it now. I read an Assassin's Creed book last week, and am about a 1/3 way done with the 2nd book. I am happy I have Blood Lines to play when I get done with book #2.

I just got a boxed copy of Wave Race 64 on eBay for $8.95 + $6.00 shipping. I bought a cart only copy of Wave Race 64, but there was some problem with it and it makes N64s display weird colors before it loads a game. So I threw my old copy away, and got a boxed copy.

never ever throw away a 'broken' cartridge. Unless there is actual physical damage to the PCB or the chips inside, they can usually be fixed by simply cleaning the contact strips.
And if all attempts to revive it fail, even an empty cartridge case may come in handy one day to replace a damaged case.
