you really should, its an amazing day. lots of free concerts, street parties and loads of cool stuff to buy.

whats even more amazing: ive just sold a black Gamecube + controller to a local guy. He could have picked up a much better deal on the streets today.

My GF bought me a NES for my birthday last week. This thing is immaculate, some of the controllers haven't even been used :D

Also picked up Golden Eye with the Gold Controller Pack and Animal Crossing with the microphone on the Wii from a second hand game store.

When I got home I found that the Golden Eye game was still sealed and that the controller hadn't even been used. There was also a receipt in the box dating back to Febuary totaling £55. Not bad considering I only paid £22 :D

Very nice NES set, Al ! What a great gift, you should really cherish that GF :)
I have several different NES boxes - there are lots of them - but never even knew this 4 player set existed.
Must have been quite expensive and therefore pretty rare even at the time.

Here's the immaculate, complete and boxed Super Nintendo set i picked up.. almost sorry to let it go but i've already got a 50 euro bid for it.

well, perhaps they are harder to find in NZ but in here in Holland there are plenty. I buy and sell them quite frequently but they rarely are as perfect as this one. It's gonna make me a fortune :)

just sold a loose Axelay (SNES shooter) cartridge with a tiny profit.
Ah well, you cant win them all and that boxed SNES will be picked up tomorrow morning :)

UPDATE : sold a black Gamecube console + controller plus a Gameboy Player. Bought on Saturday, sold on Wednesday, local pickup: excellent!

UPDATE 2: store-bought a DJ Hero 2 and custom controller bundle plus a free copy of the original DJ Hero for only 30 euro.
Prices for Guitar Hero bundles are dropping fast too ATM, keeping my eyes open for one of those as well.

Posted Image

UPDATE 3: just sold a "refurbished" NES console with new 72 pin connector, 2 controllers and a Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt cartridge to a local gal.
And im off to mail that mint boxed SNES set now... the local pickup deal fell through so i was forced to accept a higher bid :)

My GF is the best! although I think shes a little annoyed as we now have a game console hooked up in every room of the house except the bathroom, although I have considered it lol

Nice snes you picked up there Mark! shame your selling it so soon, it looks in top condition. I should really pick up one soon, I'd love to play Secret of Mana again.

Mail came today and received two NES games, World Wrestling and Track and Field 2 for a trade with 4 gameboy games.

Went to the Jockey Lot flea market today. I was looking for N64 games, but ended up getting Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder (finally can stop playing the demo in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 PS2 version) for the PS2, and The Warriors for the Xbox. I saw a crap ton of games I already had for the N64, and lots of overpriced games I don't have (Duke Nukem 64 for $18, Yoshi's Story for $25). Both games were $8 last time I was there. Had I not been a little light in the wallet, I'd have 145 games....

Always stick to your guns re. the price you want to pay.
you will find another copy at a more reasonable price someday, you can bank on it.

Yup. That's why I won't pay more than maybe $10 each for those two. It's been like this for a while now where I find a really great deal, but I don't have enough money on me. I'll admit though that this isn't always a bad thing since I usually go with about $30 on hand, come out with several good buys, and only buy things if the price is less than or equal to what it goes for elsewhere. That's why it's always important to do your homework before shopping at flea markets or pawn shops. Not everything will be a deal. I guess my biggest regret was two summers ago when I found Mario Party 3 for no more than $15 or so. I thought I could find better.... I still haven't. Hell, I haven't seen the game anywhere else but eBay since then.

agreed. the highest price i've ever paid for a used game was 15€ for Banjo-Tooie and that was really exceptional (its usually more expensive and bloody hard to find in the wild). Normally i do not pay more than 3 to 5€ for a loose cartridge and often even less (job lots).

UPDATE May 11
Added Steel Diver to my tiny 3DS collection. It has just been released here in Euro land and comes with a nice 'holographic 3D' cover.

I really wish I had a local flea market closer to home too. So much fun not knowing what you might find. Walking into a EB Games you usually know exactly what you are getting and that takes some of the fun out of it for me.

I bought a boxed SNES European AV cable and some boxed Japanese n64 games.

This morning i went to a big monthly fleamarket. At first i couldnt find anything but then i spotted a boxed SNES Scope lightgun. The vendor was asking 45 euro!!!! I was beginning to lose heart when i saw a NES with a Zapper and 12 games. I already own all the games and the asking price was way too high but included in the lot were three clear plastic cartridge cases (see picture below). I have a small number of these, they are extremely hard to find here in Holland so i was anxious to get them. After a lot of talk, a deal was made... i paid a bit more than what i'm used to but i got the cases and there's enough resale value in the rest of the stuff to get my money back. Perhaps the day wasn't lost after all...

Then i hit the motherload; a guy with a table full of games. not very cheap but he also had three of those NES cases. I made a deal for eight of his games and got him to let me have the 3 NES cases for 1 euro. Woot!

Best find of the day was something very small... i rummaged thru a box with plastic figurines (Playmobil, Happy Meal toys etc) and saw a somewhat familiar monkey that looked a bit like an old skool Donkey Kong. When i noticed he was actually holding/throwing a barrel, i knew it had to be DK and bought him for 1 euro. When i got home and examined him more closely i noticed a Nintendo and Coleco copyright mark, dating it to 1982. It must have been made for Coleco as a promotional item for their licensed Colecovison "Donkey Kong" game - the figurine matches the artwork for that game. So this DK figure actually predates the NES and must be pretty rare IMHO. This find really made my day and will help to keep me motivated to get up at 7.30 :) UPDATE did a bit of research and Coleco sold a whole range of DK and DK Jr. inspired figures. Mint examples in blister pack are very valuable, a loose figure exactly like mine recently sold for 14.50$ on eBay.

NES console, 60 to 72 pin converter, 3 controllers, Zapper, PSU, r/f cable, SMB / DH (x2), SMB 3 (x2), TMHT Arcade Game, Kung Fu, Duck Tales, Nintendo World Cup, Bugs Bunny Blowout, A Boy And His Blob, Gradius, Wizards & Warriors, Rockman 3 (bootleg), 370 in 1 bootleg, Tiny Toon Adventures 2, Tiny Toon Cartoon Workshop, SMB / Tetris / Nintendo World Cup, Slalom (+manual), Racket Attack, 11 dust covers, 6 cartridge cases, damaged console case.
Nintendo 64 Aero Fighters Assault
SNES King Arthur's World, Desert Fighter
GameGear Micro Machines
BONUS rare Donkey Kong figurine from 1982, five large Pokémon plushies and The Simpsons Season One DVD box

weird Rockman 3 cartridge... wrong name, no trademarks or Seal of Quality. Ergo: this is a pirated copy

Just sold a charcoal gray N64 console with one gray controller and a Super Mario 64 cart in a local pickup deal.

UPDATE May 19: sold a NES console with two controllers plus SMB 3 and Kirby's Adventure in another hassle-free local pickup. Excellent!

UPDATE May 20: sold two "refurbished" N64 controllers (green & blue) in another local pickup. i thoroughly cleaned them inside and out and replaced the analog sticks. And made a healthy profit :)
ETA: also sold a black Gamecube console with matching controller and Gameboy Player.
ETA 2: cor blimey! sold two more refurbished N64 controllers (yellow & black)

UPDATE May 21: more fleamarket finds...
NES console, Zapper, 2 controllers, PSU, Metroid (very rare find!), Excite Bike, Double Dragon (x2), Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers + manual, Golf + manual.
Gamecube King Kong (CIB), Cars, Ty The Tasmanian Tiger 2 - Bush Rescue (CIB).

UPDATE May 22: another day, another fleamarket... discovered a nice lot with a N64 console and 11 games, all boxed but a lot of missing manuals.
Funny thing is that i already own most of the missing manuals so i can upgrade several of my games to CIB status. Yowzah!

Nintendo 64 console, gray controller, psu, av cable, two Controller Paks (both CIB!), Super Mario 64, Pokemon Snap (CIB x 2!), V Rally (CIB x 2), Diddy Kong Racing (B), Automobili Lamborghini (B), Gex 64 (B), Command & Conquer (B), Twisted Edge Snowboarding, Magical Tetris Challenge, Ridge Racer 64 (B), Star Wars Rogue Squadron (CIB), PilotWings 64 (B), The New Tetris, Gauntlet Legends, Taz Express
Wii Star Trek Conquest (CIB)
DS Pokemon Ranger (CIB)
Magazines Nintendo Official Magazine (UK) issue 91 / 2000, GameQuest (NL) issue 4 / 2002, GamePro (NL) issue 20 / 2005
BONUS big Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice plushie.

ETA: when it rains, it pours. just got a phonecall from a guy who says he's got more than 50 Nintendo games (no platform specified) for me. i will pay him a visit later today :)
ETA 2: just like i feared... the guy had only two N64 carts (Monster Truck Madness 64 and NBA Pro 99) and a bucket full of Gameboy and GB Advance games for me. Not terribly exciting but i want to keep this contact warm so i bought the lot: 16 GBA games (only 4 fakes), 33 Gameboy games (incl. 5 DX games) and 16 Gameboy Color games. Most of the games will be added to my collection so im happy. Hidden bonus: just discovered a 128 Mb GBA Flash Card amongst the lot.

Picked up LA Noire (Xbox 360)
Got it for £30 which is pretty good for a new game I would say.

Was going to get the PS3 one but it was sold out.
