what do you mean with "can't get it to work"? doesn't the game even start or is it simply not saving your progress?

Yes. But only the average indigo and black consoles.

black screen.

this could be the result of corrupt save memory caused by an empty battery.
AFAIK if it was a bad connection problem (dirty contacts) you dont get a black screen.
if you can open the cart with a gamebit you can test the battery voltage with a multi-meter
replacing it is possible but you need to get a replacement battery that fits the limited space AND has solder lugs already fitted (soldering batteries = bad idea)

yes and it's really easy.

http://www.circuit-board.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=3954

firstly watch the second video in the first post. that's how you can unscrew your SNES carts.
secondly you may watch the first vid. notice that you don't need special batteries with solder lugs or so. it is sufficient to fix the battery with some adhesive tape.

I wish I could understand that language, but I'll look up another video on youtube. I'll try opening it with the pen later today. Thank you for posting those videos.

it's really easy. if you got any questions i'd be glad to help you.

all you have to do is
- get the two "tongues" off the old battery
- replace the battery (the rounder side needs to look upside, at least at GB games)
- fix it with tape

:yeah:

Kind of stinks considering the cart was in mint condition.

A set of gamebits can be had for a few bucks. It's one of the best investments i ever made. Nuff said.

Anyhoo... sold a restored Super Nintendo with two controllers, Super Gameboy and a Super Mario All Stars cart to a guy who lost (!) his SNES. Made a nice profit on the deal so now we're both happy :)

Just received a package from Club Nintendo with the Super NES Classic Controller for Wii. Lovely jobly! Think I will keep this one mint and unused.

Endure and survive...
I given Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for PSP last week by a friend who used to play the first one with me. I imported my old character, so i got to keep some of my items and also carriend over a huge pile of cash to start off with :D

Though I have had quite a dry spell of finding games at work, I am behind on noting the finds on here. I can't remember real well, but I think I found a GB Advance game last month. Also another copy of Mario Kart DS to trade in someday...

Added some new and some vintage strategy guides: Zelda - Ocarina Of Time 3D, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Mortal Kombat Deception, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, Tony Hawk's Proskater 4.
The new guides were damaged in the mail because the #$% postman tried to force the package thru my letterbox. Damn it, we have to pay EXTRA if it doent fit in a letterbox and then they try to squish it through anyway, the bloody morons.

I ordered Club Nintendo's platinum prize. Also I returned alttp and got mario paint (it works).Mario Paint did not come with the snes mouse, so I was wondering how much a snes mouse costs. Also for the first time ever I saw an alladin deck enhancer for the nes for $29.99. Is that a good price? I thought they were worth more.

Actually, I got the set (with SM64 pack-in game and Mem Pak) plus the Zelda OOT and Donkey Kong 64 games (both CIB as well) for 5 euro (about 7 bucks)
It's the best N64 deal i ever got, thats for sure! And no, it is not for sale :D

agreed. mind you, it was bought on Queens Day, when the cities and towns of Holland are turned into one giant fleamarket / yardsale. most of the merchandise is trash and prices in general are very very low. to give you an idea, i also picked up a mint SNES (CIB) for 7.50 euro and a Gameboy Classic with about 20 games for 5 euro.

UPDATE: just sold my last three refurbished N64 controllers... nice! those replacement sticks have really been a great investment :)

is replacing sticks really that profitable? i mean, you must buy a controller first, then work some time on it, pay for the replacement stick and find a seller...

it CAN be, if you do it right :)

I will explain how i do it. I buy complete systems, often with multiple controllers.
I sell (or stock) those systems at a profit with one decent controller and I keep any extra controllers.
If they are worn-out, i replace the stick and put them up for sale for a very reasonable price (less than a used controller from most other sellers).
Because i already sold or plan to sell the console and games, the controllers did not cost me anything.
My only real expense is the new stick so i make a very decent profit of 150% on my initial investment.
Beats saving!

join Club Nintendo, register a LOT of products to get points, spend 7000 of those points on the controller.
mind you: registering a Wii gets you 500 points and a full price 1st party game 250 points.

today i found another GBA SP AGS 101 in surf blue at a fleamarket but didn't buy it... the woman asked for 35€ but it was looking a bit worn-out and i'm just too bad in bargaining :-/

also saw a boxed grape purple N64 and a boxed atomic purple controller at a professional dealer but i don't really like buying from them... somehow destroying your chances when they buy all the good things a few minutes before you and then resell them for a price you won't pay.

this!

It is so bloody unfair, a couple of weeks ago i actually had a dealer boasting to me that he skimmed the market before the general public could get in. Spoil sports!
