US GameStop and EB Games are having a 75% off clearance sale on all PS1 and N64 games! Check to see if a location near you still sells the games. If you can find a location that does, it might be worth it to check it out. If they have something you're looking for, you could get it CHEAP! I went last weekend and got these games:

I know that 3 of them didn't have cases or manuals, but they were so cheap that I didn't care.

My sister also gave me three PS1 games that she didn't want anymore:

This brings my PlayStation Collection up to 11!

I received Madagascar for Gamecube and Asterix for DS today. I got Madagascar for less than $3 so even though the game is pretty bad it was worth it.

I bought Advance Wars: Dual Strike. I've been going around it for months, since my local supermarket had like 8-10 copies of it at half price since November last year :).

Got RE4 Wii Edition yesterday. Controls are really good, although it takes a little while to adjust to them. :)

alxbly, are the graphics much improved in the Wii version of RE4? Also, the box art on it is great. Those guys with chainsaws and potato sacks over their heads are quite nasty since they can cut your head off and kill you in one swipe.

There's virtually no real noticable difference in the graphics. The widescreen support is nice, apart from that there's really no visual change. The real differences are in the wiiimote functionality; the controls work very well so fingers crossed that other developers take note of how wii games should play. The extra content will be nice, however, you need to finish the game before that's unlocked and I've not finished it yet.

There's other nice touches such as being able to hear your weapon reload through the wiimote; the rifle reload sounds especially good. The cutscenes are still interactive so they never get boring and it feels like the bosses have had their difficutly ramped up a bit (that may just be because I've not played the game for a while).

If you own the Gamecube version then there's no really compelling reason to own the Wii edition. However, the Wii edition feels like the best version I've played; it has the best of the Gamecube version (great visuals, virtually no load times), the best of the PS2 version (extra content and widescreen support) and it make great use of the wii controls. :)

That RE4 box art is so much better than the US art.

I never played the GCN version, so this is one more game to look forward to when I get a Wii.

Traded in some old crap today; got rid of the GunBoy and Super Joy III's, some duplicate N64 games and some crap Game Boy games. And with the credit I got Star Fox Command for DS and some change. :D

If it was anyone else then I'd say you'll love this game, it was one of the best games of the last gen. However, RE4 has a feature that I know you hate; you can't move whilst shooting. :(

I don't know whether to put it in the N64 forum or here, I guess it fits more in this forum.

I got Paper Mario on the Wii VC. Really great game. I loved PM:TTYD, and this seems to be even better.

I also went searching for Elite Beat Agents (it came out last Friday here), but it seems that not a single store in the whole city has it >_< I guess I'll try again next week.

Paper Mario on the Wii VC? Finally...a decent game on the VC that many people haven't played before!

Seriously, they can make games run with 60 frames per second at 1080 resolution, they can connect game systems together from around the world, but they can't make the little man on screen move while shooting? Even the original Wolfenstein 3D had this feature! I just don't understand it.

I've been thinking about this and I've come to the conclusion that it's there as a strategic mechanism. Not all games with guns want to have the first person shooter mentality of run/shoot/strafe, and this control method does work well in some games.

The inability to move and shoot at the same time makes you think about your game strategy, your surroundings and adds tension. It actually improves your aim too, as you know that stopping for anything less than a headshot can mean death. Likewise, knowing that those chainsaw guys will instantly kill you if they get close means that you need to think about other game aspects; what gun is best for the situation, where you can take cover and what your retreat route is. I think that is the developers objective when they use this kind of control.

Let's face it, plenty of games do have a run and shoot ability so it must be easy enough to program. So I think the reason for a stationary shooting type of control isn't that developers can't do otherwise, it's that they want a game with a different feel to FPS's.

I think playing RE4 for a while might change you mind on this... :)

Well, I must admit alxbly, I've never played a Resident Evil game. In fact, the only game I can think of that I've played with said mechanic is Body Harvest, a game that doesn't seem as if this limitation was taken into account. That game has swarms of enemies coming at you from all sides, so not being able to move while shooting is a huge handicap. If Resident Evil is designed with this in mind, then it shouldn't be so bad... but it might be hard for me to get over the run-and-gun mentality.

Body Harvest isn't a great example of that kind of control type (you're character is too slow to turn and move, which makes that control type frustrating), so I can see why you're not that keen on it. RE4 is much smoother, although the basic controls are the same.

Moq_it_uq, you own Resident Evil 2 for the N64 but have never played it???

You should give it a try. It's a really great game. If you like it you could then get RE1 and RE3 on the PS1.

The Playstation versions will be cheap and easy to find. If you feel like being a completist, you could get REmake, RE2, RE3, RE: Code Veronica and RE4 for Gamecube. Then if you do decide to get a Wii you could play them on that.

I got a few games recently; Just Cause for the 360 (surprisingly good... first GTA clone I've really liked) and Final Fantasy IX for PlayStation. Final Fantasy was so cheap I couldn't resist it: £1.99 ($4) from a pawn shop. Bargain!
