I only just found my original post lol Sorry for posting in the wrong section guys. :-8

Thanks for the comments guys :yeah:

I really like how tidy your setup is LordXaero. I am hopefully getting some of those MediaShelving cases sent to me soon from ddr2nite (thanks for your help man!). I've already printed off a load of covers for them already.

That's great man! Get those games in cases, and I guarantee you will not want to see them out of cases ever again (besides playing them of course).

I can't imagine having all my cartridge based games not in cases anymore.
I recently ordered an original Nintendo DS off eBay, and I received it today when I got home from work. I never took the plunge into the DS World until' the DS Lite came out in 2006, so I never owned an original DS Fatty, and always wanted to get one.

This thing is in pristine condition, and I am happy I decided to add it to my collection.

Here are a few photos:

As I was going through your page, I started looking at it with HTML vision or something. Like, I was trying to picture in my mind the exact coding you typed up for each feature. Maybe it's because I've been working on assignments all week for my HTML Web Design class. Pretty cool stuff.

Hey Mark, i just clicked on your site to check things out. The homepage seems to look just fine, but when i go and click on lets say "nintendo 64" its just a list of numbers and 2 rows of icons. I then highlighted the page and saw everything.

Not sure if your in the process of editing it or if its something on my end. Either way i figured id let you know! Looks quite organized from what i can see :yeah:

Corey,

i think it's something browser-related.
the site uses a lot of CSS 2.0 - like the gradient table background picture you are not seeing properly (thats my guess).
sometimes a reload helps; otherwise try another browser

Pretty cool stuff

thanks! if you are interested: all the pages (menu included) are generated by a couple of PHP scripts. the data is queried from a MySQL database. Layout and styling is done with CSS 2.0 and all interactive elements (editing, adding new items etc) are implemented using the Prototype AJAX framework (javascript).

i've added the Game & Watch and LCD Games pages. Mouseover an entry on those pages to view a picture of that particular game.

Also added a sort feature to the hardware listings.
Just click on a triangle icon in any column header to sort the list on that column.
Now who needs a spreadsheet? :D

It had been a few years since I photographed my games collection. Here's how it looks now.

My main games setup:

Posted Image

The middle console gets swapped occasionally, it used to be a Wii there but N64 gets more use. I'm tempted to swap the N64 for my PS2 for a while because there's a few PS2 games I really need to finish.

Below are my Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 games. Also some random DVDs and my N64 carts:

Posted Image

And the photo below is PS2, Xbox and Gamecube games. The blue boxes are full of consoles, controllers and gaming stuff. You can't see them all but this is where the N64 controllers, Dreamcast, two N64's, Wii, Atari 2600, Pong console, NES, N64 game boxes and instructions and loads of other stuff are. The boxes are airtight so they keep dust out. Probably just as well... ^_^

Posted Image

Inside some of the boxes. This one is ful of N64 magazines, but there's also game guides, DS games and PS1 games around them:

Posted Image

The rest... boxes and boxes and boxes of it. Most new and pristine but some retro stuff too. The console boxes are empty, I store the consoles in the airtight containers. It means they're easier to move and saves on wear and tear to the boxes.

Posted Image

It's absolute madness. :eh: I really need to get around to selling most of this stuff, but my heartstrings (and laziness/lack of time) prevent me. :-/

Thats a nice setup Alxby! I think my bro had the same floor standing speakers a while ago and I seem to remember that they were top notch.

I'm very envious of your boxed Hori pads :D

Yeah, it's a glitch with Zetaboards. Whenever any two topics are combined both of them lose their viewing stats. :-/

this morning i bought a platinum Gamecube with 2 controllers, memcard and a padded bag for just 15 euro (when i wanted to buy a fight broke out between two sellers about who actually owned it!).

The console was fitted with a cheap & nasty looking 3rd party top shell but the original Nintendo part was also included in the bag. When i got home I wanted to swap the original shell back before i put it up for sale. But when i opened up the Gamecube i noticed there was a curious little PCB installed (see the picture - taken with my DSiXL). Some googling told me it's a Qoob SX modchip that allows the playback of all region discs, homebrew and "backups". Then it dawned on me... the custom shell's disc bay is a bit wider so it will take regular full-size DVD discs. Yeah!

So i wont be selling this baby :)

aye, it is very cool. those modchips are quite expensive and my soldering skills just aren't up to installing something like it so i'm very happy with this surprising find. Just goes to show that there IS a lot of interesting stuff out there. you just have to keep on looking; over & over again. This find will certainly keep me motivated to get out of bed so early on Saturday mornings :)
Anyway: ive hooked it up and it works! Thankfully the previous owner did install the latest firmware as the original and "official" FW does not support launching backups to avoid DMCA lawsuits.
OTOH: original Gamecube games are so cheap now it doesnt really make economic sense to burn "backup" DVD's. The GC has of course been designed to read factory-made discs and from what i gather it can be rather difficult to burn them the right way without ending up with a lot of expensive coasters. EDIT already wasted two DVD+R discs. First one did launch the game (Ikagura) but soon ran into disc read errors. After that first try, it didnt even launch (WTF?). I'm about to try another burn... wish me luck

Last year @ the same weekly fleamarket, i bought a large plastic bag with lots of SNES hardware, including a American NTSC console - already a pretty rare find here! I paid something like 10 or 15 euro for the whole bag of goodies. When i got home, i noticed a weird looking device on the bottom of the bag. Turned out to be an ultra-rare Super UFO Super Drive PRO 7 backup device that will dump & load SNES roms on diskettes.

Today I was at my local game emporium to pre-order a 3DS. When i had to fill out a form with my details the salesperson handed me a Nintendo pen. I had the audicity to just ask if they had any more and could I...? He searched a drawer, came up empty-handed but said "you can keep that one". Yeehaw!

I'm not very comfortable begging for goodies but i really should get over that :)

yes, the pen is very nice. what's even better is that the salesperson and i got on really well. Went there again today and asked him if he could save any Nintendo promo stuff (standees, posters etc) from the dustbin and give 'm to me. He promised he would do his best and will probably have some Donkey Kong Country stuff next week. YES! He also sold me the ltd. edition DSi + Pokemon Black Pack one day prior to release. This could be the beginning of a very beautiful friendship :)

Anyway, here's my latest purchase:

^Aaaaaa If I had the money I would be playing Ridge Racer on a 3DS now. :(
I'm gonna wait for the US Region 3DS to be released over here because the Asian/Japanese Region 3DS is S$550. x.x

yeah, but now i'm fretting for the White edition... :D
BTW: the Euro version is slightly different from the japanese (and USA?) versions... it doesn't say "Pokemon Black" but just "Pokemon" on top of the lid. Poor completists... ;)

i just might... got a lot of money coming in next week.
OTOH: the white one just doesnt appeal as much to me

BTW: the salesperson told me that the special Wii Mario Anniversary packs are really limted editions; Nintendo told him the red one is gone and can't be ordered anymore. Also: no red wiimotes or nunchucks available (yes!).

Yahoo! the gameshop salesperson came thru today ! i've snatched up three (3!) "Donkey Kong Country Returns" security portal covers... you know, the cardboard covers that slip over the anti-shoplifting sensor gates. very nice! they are double-sided of course and can easily be cut up into two mini-posters. yeah, i'll cut up one, save another to start a new branch of my collection and designate the third one for trading puposes.

PS: i feel miserable just thinking of all the stuff i didnt get because i was just too chicken to ask. The portal covers for Mario Kart Wii for instance or that huge Super Mario All Stars standee!

This weekend, I'm going to try to get a few nice pictures of my gaming area.

Also, I think we should have a topic where we recommend games for different consoles, and categorize them so it's easy to find games that meet your liking. I'd totally make that topic, but I'll probably do it tomorrow when I have some free time.
