So now that my little man-cave alcove (i.e. "man-cove") is finally all set-up and completed, I thought I'd share a few quick pics I took earlier today...

It's not a very flashy set-up, but I'm pretty happy with how minimalist and utilitarian it is, and especially with how much stuff I can stow away but still have easy access to. :w00t: All my collector's items/editions, etc. are obviously/sadly not on display... I've packed them all away until I (or rather, if I ever) have a "proper" gaming space (like a full-size basement!). Anyways, on with the show...

Here's the view from "outside":

Posted Image

So as you can see, it's not a very big space, but it doesn't really need to be. Here's the view as you're sitting down:

Posted Image

"But floorcat, that TV looks pretty small!"
Yes, it's only a 24" 3DTV, but I can always use my Sony HMZ-T1 "Personal 3D Viewer"... which simulates a 150" screen 12ft away:

Posted Image

The systems (360, PS3, N64, PS2, Wii, Xbox, SNES)... which all miraculously fit pretty well (including the component switch, S-video switch, and S-video to HDMI converter):

Posted Image

... looking to the left, you can see the room divider and my little drawer case:

Posted Image

... which houses all my controllers and other accessories:

Posted Image

Looking further left you can see my tower of N64/SNES games:

Posted Image

... where I've labeled N64 games for easy identification:

Posted Image

Looking down beside the couch (below the N64 games) are where I safely keep all my (complete and flattened) N64/SNES/GBA boxes and a few loose SNES manuals:

Posted Image

To get an idea of how much space these boxes would take up and about how many I have, I have an old pic of (most of) my N64 boxes opened and stacked up here:
Spoiler: click to toggle

The view from the other side of the room divider:

Posted Image

... which also happens to house and provide access to all my games:

Posted Image

Two of the bins have nothing but JP import N64 & SNES games:

Posted Image

And the bottom row is where I keep all my guidebooks:

Posted Image

And lastly, I thought I'd include my "other" setup (in the living room)... which has a bigger screen (only 2D), and my 2nd PS3 and Wii (yes, in pink plaid!!):

Posted Image

... and that's it!

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it all... and it's so nice to finally have it all set and set-up. At the very least one could say that it's perhaps marginally better than how it was all organized earlier this year:

Yeah that pandora's tower was a very good buy picked it up off ebay a few months ago :) Its a great game to play i love the graphics and scenes but the gameplay itself gets a bit tedious :( and yes i will :) Im currently at 24 CIB Nintendo 64 games i am going to do a Milestone of 50 N64 games picture when i reach 50 which tbh should not be too long :)

Im still meaning to pick up the Xenoblade Chronicles big box though to go with my other 3 :)

Some of the WiiU games came out this past Tuesday instead of tomorrow. We have a few games on the shelf at my Walmart already. It's actually pretty common with new consoles.

N64 collection completed 7/29/12
Been changing around the game room for a while now. Finally decided on this setup:

All shelves are custom made except for the one on the floor in the Distillers picture. That's my old N64 shelf. The PSX/Genesis games will probably be moved around until I get enough of them to justify keeping them on the other side of the room. But the big three on the same wall are all fitted for DVD style cases, so I don't really want to put them there. The custom case with the N64 games also has NES/SNES, DS/3DS games at the bottom. If I get more of those, they'll find their way on the other side of the room, either in the Brody picture or the couch picture. Each side has a mounted shelf and all three have a lava lamp.

Also check out the new TV :yeah:

Very cool, Stik... I'm so jealous of the space you have!! And nothing beats custom shelving - really wish I had the time/patience/skill/resources to make some. ;)

So how are you liking the TV?? Enjoyed much 3D gaming/movies yet? The 3D is almost too intense sometimes for me when gaming... like there's too much going on, and too much to concentrate on, but it's defintely fun. As far as PS3 games are concerned, I LOVE playing WipEout HD in 3D... it's absolutely INSANE, and the framerate is still pretty amazing. (Apparently some 3D-enabled games take a massive framerate hit when playing in 3D, sadly.) The 3D in Arkham City is barely noticeable... such a disappointment, though everything else about the game was absolute TOPS. I mainly use the 3D for movies... def. looking forward to watching my neglected copy of Prometheus in 3D (and for the first time) as soon as I have the time for it!!

While visiting my family over the Thanksgiving holiday I picked up a few things that I hadn't used/played in a while to (temporarily) add to my collection.
The first was the Wii that's shared amongst siblings- nobody else has been playing it much lately so I figured I would make use of it for a while. (Also, now that the Wii U is out I might add a few more Wii games to our collection).

The second was my parents Atari 2600 (the first console I ever played), which I haven't played in at least 15 years. Today I finally had time to set them both up and play them, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the Atari much more addictive than I remembered (I've been playing Ms. Pac-Man and Frogger all night). It looks like I may be adding some Atari games to my collection in the near future as well.

Lastly, I finally picked up the rest of the cords I needed to get my consoles off the floor and away from the TV- something I've been wanting to do for a while now. The N64 and Atari are now both within arms reach of the couch, making changing games a whole lot easier. And no longer will controller cords be stretched to nearly their limits!

Very cool, Omnert... I've only ever played a little Pitfall back in the day, and was always jealous of my friends who had an Atari. You(r parents) even still have the box!

After all the hub-bub around HDTVs with upscalers, adapters, and converters, having a good old-fashioned cathode ray is still the very best (and easiest!) to play legacy systems on.

...and I'm kinda happy to see... that even with all those official (and 3rd party) N64 controllers, you're rockin' the 2-pronged Superpad 64, just like me. :yeah:

Thanks floorcat! The Superpad 64 is one of my more recent 3rd party additions, but has quickly become my favorite. The official N64 controller is a bit too small for me to play comfortably for more than an hour or two, but I have no such problem with the Superpad.

A little over a week ago I borrowed my parent's Atari 2600. Today the first games that I bought for it arrived:
(The 9 games on top are the ones they had, the 5 on the bottom are new)
Posted Image
A few more are still on their way (Donkey Kong, Jungle Hunt and Pitfall). I'm trying to add some of the more popular titles to our (well, their) collection. Since I've started playing the Atari my parents have expressed interest in playing it again too, so I'm going to take it back to them when I visit around Christmas and give them the new games (which they don't know about yet).

After testing out all the new games today I was annoyed about having to deal with yet another controller that's too small/ uncomfortable for me to use for long periods of time, so I decided to build myself a custom dual-joystick holder (and a big one at that). I decided on the dual design because some games use both controllers.

I haven't filled the nail holes or sanded it yet, but so far it's cost me nothing but time and a bit of electricity (all the wood was left over from other projects). I am going to spend a few dollars on it tomorrow though, on wood filler and stain, so I can try to match the look of the fake wood that runs across the front of the 2600.

Top/bottom:
Posted Image

It can sit on your lap or in front of you. The second joystick spot (when not in use) also doubles as a game holder, and because of it's large size the enire 2600 can sit on top, giving you a bit more length on the joystick cord (which is only 4 or 5 feet long). And if you flip the entire thing over, it doubles as a table! ( :D )

Posted Image
And it works great!

EDIT/UPDATE:
Work set my schedule back a bit, but today I had time to pick up what I needed and finish the joystick shelf. I might put another layer of stain on tomorrow though (or at least cover the bit that I missed in the slots- I thought it would be covered by the joystick).

Posted Image

The stain turned out a lot darker than it looked on the can, but oh well. And while I was at it (and since I bought another 25 games for $23 yesterday) I built a 45 cartridge holder. Tomorrow I'll fill/sand it and then stain it to match the joystick shelf.

Posted Image

I'm considering adding a slot for manuals to the back of it...

Total cost for both: $15 and change (for filler, stain, cheap paintbrush, and the small piece of trim around the top of the joystick holder)

More pictures found here.

Very cool, Omnert! It's such a great feeling when something you create works so well on various levels. It looks like your custom Atari creations are really coming together nicely! Now that you're more invested in the system, are you finding any hidden Atari gems? ^_^

Thanks Stinger! ^_^ ^_^ That's a huge compliment :w00t: ... I've always been really space-conscious (which relates to my hopes for a creation/design-related future!).

Anyways, just thought I'd add another pic (a close-up) of my various video-game-related art/comic books:

Not yet, but only those 5 'new' games have come in so far. I spent some time looking up "Best of/Top 20" lists before buying any games and my favorite that wasn't on any of them is Megamania, which is basically a mix of Space Invaders and Centipede. Mountain King, Ms. Pacman and Berzerk are popular titles but they've all lived up to the hype. I'm hoping to find more hidden gems in that 25 game lot though when it arrives.

And here are some pictures of the finished products:
(I decided to go without the manual slot and feet, for now at least)
