This time around I want to know: How did you get your scars? We pretty much all have at least a few. Most come with in interesting story, so let's here them. When I was maybe 5, I got 4 stitches on the outside edge of my left eye. My brother was playing "baseball" with a piece of my broken swing set and a soccer ball. He told me not to walk behind him when he was swinging. I didn't listen. Needless to say, I should have. I took a hit from the metal pole, and now have a small c shaped scar beside my left eye. When I was about 8 or 9, I was playing captain hook\peter pan with another kid in the neighborhood. The movie "Hook" had just come out. I was Captain Hook, being chased up the tree, by Peter Pan. Somewhere between 25'and 30'up, the branch holding most of my weight snapped. I tumbled backwards out of the tree, flipping like a pinball and split my chin open on a branch. It got me 8 stitches and a sore knee. Looking back, it could have been a lot worse.... Like a broken neck. In about 2005 or so, I got a healthy gash on my left outer thigh. I collect weapons as most of you know. I had just purchased a new pair of razor sharp kamas. For those of you who don't know, kamas are basically small sickle shaped knives. I was tinkering with them, and had them held under handed. I went to put them up, and took a couple of steps. My arm had turned just enough to angle the blade towards my leg. It cut about 1\3 of an inch deep, and about 5 inches long. I could see the muscle underneath, but miraculously very little blood somehow. Ruined a great pair of khakis in the process I opted for no stitches on this one, and frankly the scar looks better than the stitched ones.On the back of my left heal, you will find a unique small triangular entry wound. I acquired it is 2008. I had a bag of weapons in front of my couch. A very large and heavy throwing star was in a case in the side pocket. The phone rang, and I hopped up to get it. I lept over the bag, slightly clearing it. My foot slid down the side, running into the star. An entire point of the 5 point star went into my heal. It was pretty painful, again no stitches. My most recent and gruesome came about a year and a half ago. I used to instal hvac systems a few years ago. My old lead man and I were adding a unit to my in laws house. We had just finished, and gathered all our trash into large condenser sized box. These boxes are about the size of a stove. It was full of old insulation, and old duct work. It had all been flattened out, and a piece was overlapping the top edge of the box and angling downward. I am a fairly strong individual, and was carrying the box on my shoulder to the truck. I got to the truck, and leaned over the edge to drop the box into the truck bed. I let go and the box dropped. The angled piece of flattened duct gouged a nasty wound on the back of my forearm. It was jagged, wide, and deep. It was bleeding badly all over the place. Left a nasty scar, with no stitches. Those are my major ones. I have dozens of little ones all over my knuckles and finger from tiny sheet metal cuts from the hvac job. The only 1 that gave me any real issues is that a piece of duct sliced a part of my tendon on my right pointer finger. Anyhow, if you have a scar or scars with an interesting story I would love to hear about it

some of that sounds like it would have hurt real bad. Truth be told when I read the topic, I was thinking emotional scarring, lol. I've had a few incidents with getting stitches, mostly in my face. When I was 5 I remember chasing someone around at school, and up a flight of stairs. i tripped up the top step and my chin went straight into a metal garbage can. Cut me open nicely and needed 7 stitches to get that sorted. I still have a nice scar of that one on my chin, but I mostly cover it with my winter beard. The second I got when I was around 7 or 8. There were 2 that happened very close together, and they happened doing the same thing. Running around the yard chasing my brother and through the garage and bang straight into the arms of the garage door that move it up and down. One I hit with my left eyebrow, little bit of hair doesnt grow there anymore, and the second one was a nice line up an down on the right side of my forehead. All of those scars are pretty prominent today even though they happened 20+ years ago. Another scar that I have on my left forearm I gave to myself when I was 15. Me and a few mates would heat up lighters and burn ourselves, I suppose at that age it was considered tough to do it. hurt like hell and I still have a slight scar on my arm now, but it has continued to fade over time. I've got one on my right thigh that I got from a knife cut when I was in the army in 1998 or 1999 I think. Just stuffing around with the bayonets and cut myself square across my quad muscle. Other than that, that's all I've got. I've got a whole heap of nicks and I suppose small scars on my hands and fingers, but who knows when they got there or when. Probably by box cutters when i used to work in retail. |

Though I am terribly squimish around blood, great topic, Stinger! My best one is from a seven-stitch scar on my forehead. When I was about 4, i was already obsessed with baseball and competitive in sports. So my cousin and i decided to race down the longest hall of my house and slide into the tV stand (home plate). Or at least I decided the race would end that way. Didn't realize I would slide right into that TV stand and gash my forehead open. End of race, end of family get together, end of feeling invincible. And if my folks had more money, it would have been end of that TV stand, that I bent up pretty good (cause, you know, i was soo fast, lol). (Editor: That's right kids, TVs weren't always mounted on the wall) I have a few other silly ones. My Nintendo thumb has a "part" thanks to my christmas unboxing gone wrong (documented elsewhere), a v-scar from a bow saw that hopped out of the tree limb i was cutting and into the base of my forefinger, and a line mid-shin from tripping over a chainsaw at a garage sale. Nice. |

Great replies, Andys ![]() DeeMoney, it is odd how our scars locations are rather similar - beside eye, chin, forearm, and thigh. I use my goatee to cover my chin scar. Bdr, yeah, thought it could be kind of gory guess we should leave photos out

I don't have too many and none of them are cool looking nor do they have stories that are very interesting attached to them. On my left arm I have a burn scar from getting too close to a wood burning stove back in the 80s at this Christian school I attended. It was in Butte, Montana and it gets mighty cold in the winter so our school had a wood burner. I used to love throwing new logs in and paid for it once with a nice burn that left a fading mark. Slightly off-topic but I remember spitting on the top of the stove and watching my saliva ball up and bounce around before it would evaporate entirely. On my right arm I have a scar about an inch long where I scraped my arm on a metal bar at the same little Christian school. It was outside in the field next door and there were several pieces of cement water ducts. I was climbing about them, like a typical young boy, and managed to gouge my arm pretty good. Left a decent little scar but nothing to write home about. On my right palm I have a V-shaped scar from accidentally placing my hand on a piece of hidden glass in a bar and pressing down. I was playing hide and seek with my dad, who worked in this bar, and I slid in between two tables and when I put my hand down to push myself back, I found the glass and gave away my hiding spot with a piercing yelp. Ouch. The last one of note would be the hole in the pit of my left elbow that I have sustained from repeated plasma donation over the last six years. Its a hotbed of stares and inquiries, mostly by people who think I'm a drug addict. Fun stuff.

I have 4 scars. 1 on both Achilles tendon because I was born with both feet facing the inside of my body. I had to have a surgery at 3 months old to fix this and i'm having feet & back problem because of this. I walk straight but standing still longer than 5 mins is a huge problem. of course with size 8-1/2 but 4E (some model need 6E lol) wide isnt that fun and it's a pain to find the right shoes every year. another one on my hand because I tried to garb something in the recuperation bag and one aluminum can was open and it cut my thumb skin like 2 inch long. and the last one is on my chin. some guy fell on me and my chin hit the floor badly and cut open bleeding like crap. needed 4 stitches. I was once burned by accident with maple syrup by my grand-mother on my left hand, I was 6. 23 years later, the mark is still there. |

Red: noble of you to donate plasma! Cabanon, I am starting to think that the chin is a common place to get a scar. DeeMoney, ah yes, the wonderfull throwing star incident it stabbed it to the back of my heal. It went up the buttom, but just inside the skin on the back. It was a decently thick star, which added to the pain ![]() I should post a pic of the star and the kama for kicks. The case for the kama was cut through where it sliced me. You can see exactly how far it went it

When I was in 5th grade walking to school with some friends, a girl walking in front of my picked up a piece of broken glass from the ground, turned around to throw it, and hit me right in the face. It went straight to my cheek bone, really close to my eye. Needed 6 stitches. When I was a young teenager, riding my bike, a car was pulling out onto the road I was on and I got scared. Instead of using my regular breaks, I stuck my foot onto the front tire, right behind the fork, pushing down, effectively stopping the bike on a dime, but propelling myself over the handle bars and onto the ground, leaving a few nasty scars on my elbows. In 2010, I nearly broke my back doing gainers at the gym. I had been doing them over and over just practicing, then on the last one, for some reason, my body decided to give up half way through, allowing me to fall straight on the back of my neck, with the rest of my body crunching over me. I blacked out immediately for about 4 seconds, and it knocked the wind out of me. I had to get an MRI and a cat scan, but luckily nothing was broken. It literally was the worst pain I had ever felt by far. There was a decent amount of pain for about 10 months after, and I still have problems to this day, not being able to lay on my left side for longer than a couple minutes. It just starts hurting really bad near my heart area. No scars from that one, but thought I'd share anyway. |

I've been enjoying the stories so far ![]() Cooper, that botched gainer sounds terrible ![]() I had forgotten another small scar. The front of my left forearm has a dime sized patch of slightly darker skin. My sophomore year I was working the concession stand during a basketall game for ffa class. I wasmaking popcorn. Somehow I overfilled the oil. I went to pour some out, not realizing my arm was below. Just a little dab hit me,but wow did it burn ![]() |

I have a slight faded scar across my left cheekbone where in 7th grade a kid whipped me across the face with his metal belt. I knocked him down into a urinal after that, then our PE coach stormed into the room yelling ablaze to end it right there. 10 second fight can't remember what it was about, something stupid of course but we both apologized and ironically became friends after, lol turned out just like a Disney movie. Don't really have any other scars to tell about, just can't remember where I got them from.. ha |

Pretty cool stories so far guys! I have a few scars in various places from surfing. I wiped out pretty good on a wave and got carried into some coral. My fingers have scars on them from trying stop myself and my knees have some scars from the coral also. No stitches just super glue. Another surfing scar happened when I was walking out of the water and stepped on a stingray. The barb went in the bottom of my foot and poked through the top a little bit Needless to say my vacation was ruined. Also when I was about 10 I was on the high-bar(I used to be a gymnast) and I was strapped to the bar and was working on a skill called giants(its where you keep your body straight and swing all the way around the bar). Anyway, the straps that were supposed to be keeping me on the bar tore and I hit my head and bit my tongue. 10 stitches in the head and 14 in the tongue. My hair covers the scar on my head but you can still see the scar on my tongue. My most recent scar came from when I used to work in shipping and receiving. Somehow I slipped with the box cutter and cut into the palm of my hand near my thumb. It went all the way to the bone. No stitches for this one either. Just superglue to keep it closed. And that is it so far....Ill update this the next time I do something dumb. |

Your going well then. Most of my scars happened before the age of 16. I've had less scarring occur since I have become an adult than I did when I was growing up. I had the worst luck with sporting injuries as an adult though. I've rolled my ankle so many times it's not funny. Rolled it so bad back in 2010 that I couldn't walk for weeks and my ankle looked like a balloon. Luckily it wasn't broken. Needless to say and unfortunately I've given all sport away, between my dodgy ankles and my dodgy knees, my body just can't seem to take it anymore.

My back has scars all over it going horizontal across my spine. I don't remember how I got these so I tell people the story Kyle Reese tells Sarah Connor in the first Terminator. I have a scar on the back of my left hand just below the middle finger knuckle. I think that was from hitting the curb as a kid. I was either skateboarding or bike riding. I also dropped the toilet seat on my friend when I was three and nobody kissed my booboo until I was 17. Oh, and when I was four or five, I fell and busted my arse on a ceramic clown who was rudely wearing a pointy hat. Of all things to fall on, it had to be something pointy. I... 've never seen a topic like this in my life Interesting (but often painful) stories. I'm glad to say I have only two ![]() When I was 9-10 years old I was riding on my bicycle. I was riding with my mom and younger brother. For reasons I do not remember, I was mad at them and sped away from them. I looked back over my shoulder at my mom and younger brother, angrily, and when I looked in front of me again, I suddenly noticed a truck has stopped in front of me. I tried braking, but my bicycle's coaster brakes were failing. Normally, a coaster brake engages after a fraction of a revolution, but mine engaged after a quarter of a full revolution. Since my right foot (which I used for braking) was almost at the bottom, I had no room left to complete enough revolution, so I rammed the truck at full speed. Then everything went black for a few seconds... I stood up, brushed myself off and was surprised I wasn't all that sore. I checked my body, and that's when I found a nice triangle-shaped gash an inch or two under my right knee. My mom brought me to the emergency room, and it had to be stitched. But before they stiched it, they anesthetized it locally. The doctor put the syringe pretty much right into the wound, but at that point I didn't even feel it So now I have a nice little scar a few inches under my right knee. Another 'scar' I have I've had since birth. I was born with an extra pinky on my left hand! It even had a tiny fingernail, it was a complete pinky (on my regular pinky) except it didn't have a bone in it (and probably no muscles either). So they removed it. All that has remained is a wart-like stump on my left pinky. It's kinda sensitive: if I accidentally bump it, it hurts like hell. It probably has a lot of nerve endings or something, I'd say it's even more sensitive than my finger tips. Other than that, I don't have any (significant) scars. |

That is cool, Arch! I remember seeing a very pretty young women in the Caribbean once with an extra digit on each hand. I think, like you, she had just one pinky finger but two of the last digit (the one with the fingernail). It was unique and kinda cool, but in the end probably a huge inconvenience. I am happy to report no new scars on BDR since my last post.
