Yeah, brakeless is cool but a bit weird. The main problem I'm having with it right now is tire-taps and stuff like that, but as long as I lean back enough and press down on the pedals its fine. Vert would be another story, though, but its cool cause' there no vert around me anyway.

I'm jealous of you living near a campus. The closest one to me is UF, but the place seems to be mostly brick and probably covered by security...plus its about a 45 minute car ride away...

Have you ever heard of Van Homan (Fit, Orchid, Little Devil)? He lived like 30 minutes from where I used to live in NJ. I've ridden with a guy that lives with him (he was sooo good) and some pf my friends ride with him a lot. A lot of the Little Devil/Orchid/Little Devil people ride near where I used to live. My friend rode with Corey Martinez before I came up to visit and this kid I knew did drugs with Josh Stricker.

And yeah, you got Florida right. You just need to add in a bunch of wigger skaters and rednecks. And sand. :(

But about those US/JPN consoles...JPN game boxes seem cooler...yeah...

I've seriously considered going brakeless... but I'm not so stoked at how fast you'll wear through your shoes if you do (and there's quite a few steepish hills around here). That, and I would absolutely suck at it. But I like the fact that it forces you to commit to your lines... and Edwin DeLarosa is absolutely insane.

Van Homan is probably one of the most disgustingly skilled riders I've seen footage of... seriously makes me wanna puke from how good he is. I mean, how the %$#@ does he decide, "Hey, I'm gonna manual down this railing. Never mind that it's like, 30+ft long." So if this guy you rode with is even half as good as him, he's gotta be retardedly sick to watch.

I haven't watched anything more recent than almost a year ago... so I don't really know what's been goin' down in the BMX world. Haven't even ridden that much in the last 6 months, all thanks to school, then work. Last week's ride was way fun (just rode campus, like always), but I was sore for the next 2 days... didn't take enough Vagisil I guess.

I think the last clip I saw was a few months ago with Steve Hamilton (was that his name? Federal Bikes?)... some of the sickest street lines I've ever seen. Brakeless 20+ft. nose-manuals, manual 180s galore, all-around clean riding... my new hero ever since. I need to find that clip again so I can

I had a bmx when I was younger. I tried doing a jump, fell off and broke my arm. I blame the poor road conditions....

Yeah, manualing down railings is crazy. All the film I've seen of him is a couple years old, so I don't even want to think about the stuff hes pulling in the new Orchid video.

Riding my brothers has also got me thinking about taking my brakes off when I get my bike operational again. My brother wants them, so I told them I'd trade em to him for his back wheel. He didn't go for it though...

The only reason why I want to keep bikes is for riding trails, which probably won't happen in FL anyway as theres no where to do it. My friend said we could build in his woods, but I don't really want to have to drive to get to where I wanna ride at. Eh, I guess it's better than nothing.

I've actually started skating a little, since one of my friends from another town left his board at my house around Christmas time and still hasn't been back for it. I'm actually not bad at it, but it's just no where near as fun as biking.

I had a bmx when I was younger.  I tried doing a jump, fell off and broke my arm.  I blame the poor road conditions....

I do the same thing whenever I mess up! :D

... just like when I totaled my first car... or fell on the way to the bus stop... or when I choked on a watermelon seed...

j/k ;)

Whenever I bring my bike into the office, everyone comments on how it's a like little kid's bike. And when I ride out in the open, I even sometimes get little kids running up to ask if they can ride it! I guess BMX bikes are to be forever labelled the bike for little children... or childish grown-ups. ^_^

I've actually never broken a bone before, which amazes me... especially considering all the stupid things I've done. I've sprained each ankle once really badly... so maybe that counts.

StYoung, that sucks how there's like no hope for you riding trails where you're at. At least you're able to "diversify" into skating... I could never do that. I'd break my neck in like 2 seconds.

So is this new Orchid video supposed to be pretty sick? The last ones I saw were Animal's Can I Eat? and Etnies Forward... if that shows you how outdated I already am. <_< I thought both of them were pretty insane though, but I can't even remember anything from them. :(

dD, did you skateboard or rollerskate?

So far I haven't broken any bones either. Just a really bad sprain and a blown out knee that was a real bitch. I had to wear this brace and use crutches for months. At least I got to use the elevator at school ^_^ Other than that my shin has a couple of scars from trying crankflips and learning feeble-stalls.

And the biking for kids thing is annoying. But not as annoying as how ****ing popular skateboarding is. Theres a god damned rap song on MTV about it now... I'm so glad biking isn't like that. It's mainly because skaters are usually little wigger punks and the Tony Hawk games.

And the video should be sick. But I dunno, I'm a little biased toward Orchid...

Two videos you should check out for value-ness are the Little Devil Collector's Edition DVD (contains two of their old movies and extras. Awesome Van footage and overall cool riding. A lot of east coast spots are shown, though the only ones I really reconize are from Philly) and the FBM DVD (has like 7 videos in it).

Skateboarding?? WTF?!%$#@ Roller-skating, obviously. Or maybe Ice-skating... possibly.

;)

Man, you don't wanna get me started on shin-scars. They go from my ankle to my knee... especially on my right leg (along with a couple permanent gouges). It's pretty sexy.

I used to ride trials back in the day, so most of them are from that, actually. But crank-flips are definitely the true shinburger move. At least they're sick & well worth the risk. So were you getting them? And it's nice to see someone using the right name... everyone around here tends to call them pedal-flips (which, to me, = gay, for some reason).

I'll check out those videos (hopefully soon)... it's about time for a Danscomp order, I think. ^_^

Yeah man, I was trying them for a couple days and getting soooo close. Then my friend started and got pretty close and I was just like "God damnit, just land it pussy" and I did. ^_^ And yeah, pedal flips sound like, the pedals flipping, not the cranks. I've also heard them called kickflips too, but thats skater crap.

Heh, I'm about to order a backpack from danscomp. They had a Fit movie, Barcelona Vacation, on there when I ordered stuff last time so I got it for like 5 bucks. It's not the best, but there is some crazy stuff. Mikey Aitken=the man at footplants. He manuals down this long ass cement railing leading down stairs and footplant 180s at the end. And he does some crazy half-backflip footplant thing on this dragon slide (Barcelona is nuts). Van does a sweet fakie truck drive (I think thats what 180 barspins are called, not sure anymore) down a 3-set and Edwin rides some pretty cool street at this art museum. The F-it video is also included, which is cool and some footage from the sick park behind the Fit warehouse.

And nikka you don't have to get an attitude about me thinking it was skateboarding :P

The floorcat made a big deal that it defiently wasn't skateboarding that you weren't talking about skating.

Well, not really a big deal, but yeah.

Yeah man.

I was riding earlier on my bros' bike, got half-crank flips down and then started trying to bunny hop them. Got one ghetto one, which I'm stoked about due to the shitti-ness of his cranks.

See, to me that just makes no sense at all. Except for bunny hops. I know what they are.

I'm too old for this topic...

Crank flips are when you sorta kick back on the pedals/cranks so that they spin backwards in a full rotation. The half crank flip is just only spinning it halfway around, making it easier cause' its only half a rotation, but harder cause' you have to adjust your legs in the air.

BUT DAMNIT DAD YOU SHOULD KNOW THESE THINGS!!! WHY DONT YOU LOVE MEE THE WAY YOU LOVE YOUR OTHER 95479 KIDS!?!?!

*Runs away crying*

Got a stupid-assed flat tire today... walked to the bus stop to wait 15 minutes in blistering heat to find a bus too crowded for my bike to fit  waited another five to catch the next one and then wait in horrible "university students' moving-in day" traffic. By the time I got home (10 min bike ride turned into a 1 hour "WTF are you lookin' at" public-transportation glare session), I was so pissed I almost bit my housemate's dog's head off.

... and I didn't fix that flat, so I never got out to ride like I thought I would today. <_<

Got some good fakies in earlier though.

Okay, my back wheel is really ****ty and is dead right now, so I've been using my brotheres bike. Well, he popped his tube so I let him use the one outta my front wheel cause' I can't ride it anyway.

Well, my dad moved all the stuff out of our old shed, cause' we're getting a new one or something. Along the way he decided to throw away my wheels. I didn't care about the back one, but I'm pissed cause' the front one was a Demolition flat axle. Dmps not open til' Tuesday, then I'm going there and hunting for it. I even told the dick not to throw it away, cause' I knew he'd pull something like that (he's thrown away 20+ Genesis games/console/controllers and a pretty much perfect Haro frame in the past).

As for bike riding, the old dick that owns the property next to ours decided that he didn't like us using part of his property to get speed for our jump, so he put some really ghetto chicken-wire fence up. He was also pissed cause' we broke this generator-box thing of his to use as wood to cover up some sandy spots...

So yeah, biking hasn't been going so swell as of late for me.

Damn... that sucks StYoung. I'd get so pissed if someone threw away any of my crap. A lot of it is crap, but no one should have the right to throw it away besides me. I guess you've got some savin' up to do... <_<

I'm pretty happy with my rear wheel... hasn't really given me any major problems yet (36h Odyssey Hazard laced to a SunRims? 4-Play)... pretty bomb-proof. I had to lube up the pawls a few weeks back though... it was starting to feel like garbage. It was seriously almost becoming a fixed gear hub then... the pedals would always spin forward if my feet weren't on 'em (so NO WAY could I practice crankflips).

I think I need to replace the chain soon though... had it for a year, and every time I tension it, it gets loose in like, 2 rides. Don't want that **** to snap on me!

Maybe I'll get lucky and squeeze some riding in today (officially the LAST day of summer for me!!) :(

Alright... I think my rear hub is actually dying. It's starting to do that retarded fixed-gear thing again. Bastard. Well, I have been abusing it a bit with what I've been practicing. Maybe after I get some sort of tripod, I can film/post some footage for you guys. All zero of you who care. :P

Nailed my first decent manual-180-fakie line today... waaaaaaaaaaay stoked! ^_^
Totally ignored the 30+ hours of schoolwork looming over my shoulders, and I was so psyched, I was even thinking about driving either to hit up some park or trails. Then hunger & fatigue set in.

My housemate just offered to "film" me... so maybe I'll have some videos ready sooner rather than later. ;)
