My housemate just offered to "film" me...

:o ;)

That's the kind of offer you can't refuse. ^_^

So I've been working on a little website for my technology class... where we implement web-based programming language into a site on a topic of our choice... so I of course chose BMX. :D

Haven't really done a whole lot, but I was pretty proud of what I accomplished last night... that I actually got the sucker to work! So, I thought I'd share it with y'all to see what you think... and also to show you where/what I ride.

... now... about those videos...
-_-

(Damn... kinda liked the fact of having 666 posts. Shoulda saved that 666th post for yesterday, Friday the 13th, to be truly evil) >:D

Nice one floorcat. Setting up a webiste isn't always that easy (as I'm also finding out), so well done. Still not sure what half those tricks are, but they sound cool! :D

hooooooo... today was a good day...

nailed a line I've been thinking of for like, 6 months now...
:D :D :D :D :D :D

nothing too major, but big for me... a quasi-sketchy b-hop manual down a small (foot-high, foot-wide, 10 foot-long, ~30 degree dowslope... -ish??) stair-side wall. Made all the more sketchy b/c I was riding alone. Not that that means anything to most/any of you. Prolly WAAAAAAY better to just post a vid, if I had one. Maybe soon. Wouldn't have been so sketchy except there's a railing blocking a direct approach, so I had to do the b-hop to the right. into a down-sloping manual. JOYYYYYYYYYY. B)

... couldn't do my manual 180s to save my life today though.

and I also worked a little on my b-hop barspins (still non-existent) and my b-hop crankflips (just verrrrry inconsistent!).

I just HAD to ride after getting so pumped up after I watched this sick bmx trailer. (put to the sickest music ever!!)

Anyways... enough about stupid bmx bike tricks... how 'bout some stupid street motorcycle tricks?!?

Do you do the HTML coding for your site?

Yes... I did all the coding in all of the pages there.

..or what do you use?

If you're talking about programs, then... I use Notepad. Every once in a while, I'll use WordPad, but only very rarely... when I want to write up a page w/ Japanese encoding. Never could get into those web-publishing programs... I think they're for lazy people. But then again I'm being a hypocrite since I'm too lazy to spend the time to figure out how to use 'em.

If you're talking about web-scripting languages, then on that BMX site, I've now used Javascript, AJAX, XML, and PHP (all material for one of my classes this semester).

All the source code is there for you to look at if you want... except for PHP, in which case you won't have access (not sure if you know, but you'll just see regular html, and not the PHP scripting going on in the background). But I've conveniently uploaded source files for those, and all you'll need to do is just add an "s" after the ".php" extension to make it "blahblah.phps" ... color coded even!!

(not sure if any of that has any meaning/importance to you...)

You have a webpage/website you'd like to share?? ^_^

Had a pretty intense street session last night. 7+ hours & 2 meals (one being Taco Bell) thrown in the mix. Hang 5's are in. And impossible.

Gonna find at least a front peg to throw on. Scored a free rear that might also find it's way on my peg-virgin bike.

Maybe try out a free-coaster... if I can find one for cheap.

Can't move body at least for the next few days.

Still no riding for you StYoung? :-/

I liked the website floorcat. Man, I wish I had a banked parking lot where I live... ;_;

I haven't rode in forever, mainly because my bike is missing both wheels right now...

I'm thinking about just buying those crap wheelsets off of DansComp (the like $70 ones) , but I dunno.

Where do you live at anyway floorcat?

Yeah... I love that parking lot... only problem is that lame-butt students always seem to park on the choice sections of it. <_<

Man... that really blows you still don't have wheels... hopefully your dad hasn't thrown away your whole bike by now. >_<

It looks like the crap Danscomp wheelset is around $45... ? 3/8" axles though. They might hold up okay...

I'm in Boulder, CO... when are you gonna move out of Florida? (and back to sick-riders-everywhere-Jersey?)

I have a bicycle, but I guess that's not the same because I use it for transportation when the weather is nice so I can save gas. I have a Mongoose maneuver, which is fairly nice I guess. Not sure how I can do anything "sick" with it, but I'm open to suggestions.

Damn them heathens.

Indeed. I haven't checked on it in a while so who knows  *Runs to check on bike*

I was talking about the crap 14mm wheelset for $70 :-/

Probably when I'm old enough to live by myself. Or have a job.

Sorry to go off topic but Floorcat what BMX do you have?

FC Edit: The frame is an Eastern Bikes... Dragon I think. Bought it and all the parts (mostly Odyssey) individually and built it up myself about 6 years ago - the thing is probably about 25lb. and indestructible!! :w00t:
Nice :yeah:

im a big Eastern fan

Heres my BMX basically standard tho
Spoiler: click to toggle

And i can make this part contribute to the thread, my most treasured bike is my 2007 Eastern Night train, that always puts me in a good mood werever i take it.

Very sex-eh, Bane! :yeah: I'll try to take a quick snap of mine later today.
It looks like you ride street and/or skatepark, mostly... judging from your slicks? I've mostly stuck to street... but have been itching to get better at park & dirt, since they're so much easier on your body (well, if you do them WELL, of course).

I really gotta get out and ride more... that's what reaaaaally gets me happy. ^_^

And hope it's alright I moved your post, Bane... decided it would be better to just resurrect this thread instead of totally derailing the chassis lubing one.

And speaking of lubing... I really gotta give some love to my poor dried out (and somewhat embarrassingly rusty) chain!

Posted Image
its a cheaper brand but its just for mucking around on dirt (Pun intended) with till i get better at it.

But ive also gotten into downhill which is why i have my Night Train (don't have any pics of that ATM)

ooh yeas the rusty chain what a pain right

Ive actually taken a break from riding after Seriously injuring my knee, but ill be back out there soon

Its good you moved it here i would have never found it other wise :yeah:

I once had a really cheap SuperCycle bike that I got at toys or us or something... Anywho, I got tired, in the middle of the park so I decided it was a great idea to lay down and take a nap.

Of course, I wake up later in the evening without a bike

hahaha you lay down in the park for a nap, and literally went off to sleep. A sleep so deep that you didn't notice someone riding off on your pushie?? ;)

Sorry Yogurt, I just find that pretty funny. Did you at least feel refreshed after your sleep? X_D

Lmao it's funny too now that I think of it (and thankfully it was a really cheap bike), but right on the spot I remember it was like instictive as I was waking up to look for the bike. Didn't take very long to notice and I felt particularly lame that day

I learned my lesson though, guess we got beds for a reason >_<

Thanks... and brakeless for sure! :w00t:
I actually still have the brake installed, but the cable broke about 4 years ago (so it's kind of a one-handed e-brake now), and I've been basically brakeless (and loving it) ever since. ^_^ It took a while to get my manuals back to where they used to be "pre-broken-brake", but now they're even better than before because of it. :w00t:

@Yogurt... that's both hilarious AND crappy!! Some truly heartless people out there sometimes... :-8

I went Brakeless for a while but started wrecking to many pairs of shoes braking  so i set my brakes up again, The Redline in the picture above is now brakeless just have to remember not to wear my expensive shoes, How long have you been riding Bmx for?

Heh, yeah... brakeless is definitely hard on the shoes, for sure!! But for whatever reason, my shoes tend to last 3+ years minimum... so I don't know if it's just me, but the soles on my Pumas have been lasting FOR. EVER. even through all my brakeless-ness!

I've been riding BMX since... about 2005. I rode a good bit of street since about 2002 (on a 26" mtn. bike, which later became a 24"). How about yourself?

i had a pair of 150 element shoes that only lasted about 3 weeks  my ones now seem to be lasting a bit longer.

i started off doing street/skateparks when i was about 13 so about 2005 and got into dirt about 2009 and just started getting into downhill this year using a 24" rim bike which is great.

this is the bike i use for downhill (not my pic but identical to the one in it.)

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish I had one of those! Would be perfect for the newly-created Valmont Bike Park (a city block from my house)... LITERALLY a 3 min. bike ride away. Here's some pics to drool over:

... I've been WAY too scared to try anything beyond the "M" lines on my brakeless beast... sure BMX bikes are way more solid, but (the way I see it) you have to be SOO much more precise on a smaller bike without a front shock.

Wow... that mountain is incredible! I imagine there must be some rock climbing along those cliffs, no? They look like some amazing basalt (?) columns there! But yeah... kinda sucks that your options are so limited, and with limited accessibility. :nope:

I do feel spoiled... having such an amazing park, but seldom taking advantage of it. To be honest, I like going at my own (slow & safe) pace working on things I can do most anywhere, and rather play in an empty parking lot than some crowded dirt jumps where (at least I feel) I'm constantly being judged and as a result, end up feeling overly-self-conscious/nervous. >_<
