There probably isnt a need to go there at all. Not sure what the actor is trying to achieve by making those comments.

He is going to kill the Spider-Man name! Why change something that has been successful for 50 years?

I wouldn't have a problem with it if they did. I doubt that they will but what's the big deal? They change everything so much from the originals, especially after so long. Much ado about nothing, in my opinion.

Lovely generation I'm living in. Wake up everyday and smell the immorality seeping through every aspect of media. :-X

It always [stinks] when re-makers have no respect for the original. The Dukes of Hazzard movie was a perversion of the good-natured original. Knight Rider 2000 was a joke. But this takes disrespecting the original (and even the original movie trilogy) to a whole new level, because (just to clarify) there is nothing sexual about Spiderman or Peter Parker.

Sometimes, it is really painful to listen to actors speak. This is a brilliant example. If he doesn't understand that Spiderman is about a tortured individual with the blessing/curse of having super-human powers, then he really has no business playing him.

[Steps off soap box as rant is concluded].

Yeah that just sounds completely inapropriate for a movie based off of a franchise that has been a good and clean source of entertainment for kids for decades!

In the same way that we don't care about Peter parker's life with Mj ( im all for the spidey action! ) we don't care about Parker's inner sexuality debate, that's just ridiculous.

Homosexuality is not immoral, inappropriate, or unclean. However, I really don't think a Spidey movie is the right forum for exploring hidden desires, etc. Everything doesn't have to be a social commentary.

@young: i don't think anyone is saying that homosexuality is wrong (and this is CERTAINLY not the place to make such assertions). Its the sexualization of something wholesome that is so wrong ... like you said, the wrong forum for sure. And the comments went way beyond suggesting spidey having feelings for men.

Yeah I don't mean to offend homosexuals at all, there's nothing wrong with that by my book. I was just saying that since spider man was always an action super hero story, what is really the point in exploring a superhero's sexuality? It wouldn't really be important at all unless the superhero was some satirical joke about something sexual-related, but that's another thing altogether!

As the majority of fans have said before, the movie was a total cash-in and mind-numbingly bad rehash of the Sam Raimi Spiderman. It was so cringe-inducing watching Martin Sheen return to the same role too. The villain was forgettable, but most importantly Andrew Garfield was awful. Hope Hollywood execs and teen girls forget about him soon, so that he may fade away like Daniel Radcliffe, and soon to be Taylor Lautner. Many people hate on these guys just for their maniacal tween fanbases, but in all honesty they're one-trick-ponies who've both coasted for many years now. I give guys like Justin TImberlake or Shia LeBeouf props because I've seen performances where they've actually given a character depth just by their nuances, but in the case of Garfield? No. He obviously has no passion or remotely gives an ounce of respect or creativity towards Spiderman. It comes across in the movie, and yes it really is sickening to hear this attention-grubbing and absurd interview. I don't even like Spiderman, but I really want to punch this guy in the face.

..What an @$$hole. lol
