thought this could be funny, we all do stupid stuff without even realizing it. i'll start it off with a good one. went into the pool yesterday and when I came out 20 mins later, I thought it would be nice to check my email. check my pocket. OH :cussfit:. forgot to remove my phone from my pocket before jumping into the pool. now i have no clue if the rice trick will do the work but after deassembling it, it wasnt that much wet, removed battery, sim card,. microsd card, remove the panel that hides the electronics part, and put everything in rice. i rreally hope it's gonna work today otherwise it'll cost me a fortune to get another phone (and i need one as it's our only home phone) |

@Cabanon: That's awful! There's no guaranties but you did the right thing. Let's hope it'll work. When I bought my first car (used car with only one key) I was so worried that I'd leave the keys inside the car and was always very careful. So carefull that it only took me a week to indeed lock the car with the keys inside. I felt so, so stupid... I literally had to rob my own car. It worked. Surprisingly easy... Next morning I spent almost 30€ on a copy and never used it ever :).

Great topic idea, Cabanon! That is a great fail . . . that will likely happen to me someday soon. I think one of my FAILS is much like Nuno's. I was house sitting at my in-laws during a late summer vacation of theirs. I woke up at about 7 am and took the trash out in a tee-shirt, shorts and barefoot. The door closed behind me. And yep, it locked. So was the side door, the garage entry door and the sliding glass door. Did I mention it was about 55 degrees out? And of course, this was before I had a cell phone on me 24/7 (ah, the good ole days). I woke up the neighbors, and eventually a locksmith came, and for the low, low off-hours emergency lockout fee of $65 bucks, I gained entry back into the home. Great way to start the work day! |

I think motorized vehicles have the highest potential for fail-inducing ! Funny story guys lol, and Cabanon you did the right thing, my friend's iphone was saved by the rice trick. My most recent fail was sort of in-line with the above, when I was in a hurry to leave for work and I left my keys and bus pass in the appartment (floor level). Of course, when I get back, I had locked the door. I had to think of something quick so I looked around and noticed that the window to my roomie's was a little loose, so I literally managed to remove that tiny square window and because I weigh like 110 ( im skinny as heck ) I managed to slide in, back out and go on with my day

@Cabanon try putting your phone in a pool of methylated spirits, sounds weird putting it in liquid but the meths gets all the water out, tried it with an ipod once and its still going strong. |

thanks for the tips. so far it's 24 hours-in in the bag of rice, will wait another 24 hours before putting it all back together. if that doesnt work, then i'll just move on and search for a replacement. cant afford to switch to a Note 2 or S4 for now, way too pricey and i still have a year and half left on my contract, meh !

I like this topic. Props Cabanon. I've got a lot. I'll list them as I think of them. My first was when I was about 6 or 7 (You can forgive me because of my age ). I had joined a local little athletics club where we lived. One of the events of the day was the hurdles. I was running and clearing those babies like no bodies business. I was in front by quite a margin and was going to win comfortably. As I jumped over the last hurdle, I stopped as I thought that was the end of the race. I was pretty proud of myself for winning my first race at little athletics. As I looked around I could see people yelling at me to keep going and cross the line. Before I relised what was going on, 2 people passed me and I ended up getting 3rd. Needless to say I never made that mistake again and won most of my races from then on in.

LOVE the topic!Three of mine pop in my head. One was using my foot to stop my bike when i was eight. I got the brilliant idea to shove my foot into the fork to stop. Needless to say I flipped over the handle bars ![]() The next was while I was working at a concession stand at a high school basketball game in 2000. I poured hot popcorn oil on my arm. I stood immediately screaming an expletive that rimes with duck. Thankfully the game was so loud that nobody heard me.Lastly, Last year i hit the water fountain button with my phone in my other hand. Water shot straight on to the phone. It was the start of the death of my old dinosaur of a blackberry

Your bike story reminded me of a fail of my own, Stinger. I was showing off to my brother one sunny summer day in Montana years ago and I asked him to stand at the end of the block just off the sidewalk. I told him I was going to ride as fast as I could and hit the brakes at the last second and stop before going over the end of the curb. I picked up a full head of steam and barreled down the way and right at the end I hit the brakes and came skidding to a halt, but my momentum carried me just over the edge of the curb and while the bike stopped, I kept moving forward and I racked myself SO hard on the handlebars. I was ever so grateful for the audience I had in my brother as he serenaded me with a tune full of laughter. It was not a shining moment.

The stories remind me of an accident I had myself skiing. I used to ski a couple times a year with some friends. I was no champion, but wasn't terrible either. Usually stuck to blues, which here in the northeast can be a challenge with the granular "snow" and occasional ice patch. It was the end of a fun ski day and my buddy says hey let's do a black diamond trail. I was skiing well so I said sure. We got off the lift and all i saw was this wide open steep vertical with no one on it...except a little girl pushing 3 feet tall. She started out, so we waited and waited and wait while she was doing her snow plow routine in big wide turns. Then we started. My friend zipped ahead (great skiier). Then I went. I was flying, carving turns to try to fight the massive gravitational pull of this trail. And then the little snow plow girl appeared. She probably was not within 50 feet of me, but the thought of knocking into her made me panic. I cut a turn too sharply and DOWN I WENT. Now, i said this was a steep hill. Well, it was a long one too. There I was (with one ski now) sliding down its face. And sliding and sliding. After a good 100 yards (or so). I came to a stop. My friend, who apparently watched my fall while waiting up for me says dude are you okay? I nodded and knowing he was holding back, said you can laugh now. He then laughed so hard he nearly cried. And then the little girl came skiing by. The little munchkin yelled, "Hey, mister, that was some fall!" (My unvoiced response: WHY YOU LITTLE ) Yeah, that run was definitely a confidence shaking, mentally scarring FAIL moment, lol! |
