I watched this video today and I found it quite interesting. Maybe a little more scientific than I expected but it really makes you think. Can anyone relate? |

Nintendo was such a core element of my childhood, and with so many children of similar age where I lived growing up, I would literally run down the street every day after school with a controller in my hand ready to drink blue cool aid and play something like Smash Bros. at my friends house where 4 others kids also hyped up on sugar were drooling over their controllers, and we go through round after round for hours. It was such a fantastic time and I'm appreciative to have had that experience as a kid. Nintendo provided that experience, and overall my collection is a personal representation of my gratitude towards Nintendo and a reflection back on my childhood as a whole. I have my Nintendo collection all inside one cabinet, and on the occasion when I open the doors, a nostalgia wave hits me in the face like a brick. My collection just is home to so many memories, being taken back like that is a moment I enjoy and can actually relive in real time while playing. I do it for the fun. And sometime friends and I get drunk, and we do it for the lolz. Yeah. |

That was beautiful. The old 64 provided many of my favorite childhood memories - birthday party sleepovers where we played Smash Bros all night (after seeing Episode 1...ehhh), Goldeneye with my neighbors, Mario 64 with the old man when he was stuck at home with Lymes Disease one summer, Ocarina of Times subtle but powerful commentary on change and the passing of time that helped me get through a move when I was younger, and more recent times like when I beat my old roommate at Smash Bros so many times he has to become a Phillies fan (fun wager). And yes, getting pretty shitfaced playing the old guy sometime is fantastic. |
