Does anyone know where I can get a non-trial version of WinZip without having to pay $30? Can't seem to download any free PC games and demos without needing WinZip and I can't see paying for the dang thing. Blargh!

Download WinRAR. After the 40 free trial expires, just press ESCAPE and it'll let you use it for free

Or 7 Zip. It's always free and does just as much as WinRar.

I second 7-Zip. We use it here at my work - simple, small, and totally does the job.
Now Playing: Clash Royale (mobile), Gravity Rush 2, Rayman Legends, Project CARS, Uncharted 4 Survival Mode ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

been using WinRar for more than a decades when you had to be connected to the Internet via a 28k modem and downloading huge files was a pita so people rar'd/splited files to be easier. ahhhh good ol' days !

If you are using Windows, ZIP files can be opened, extracted and browsed just like folders without the need for any additional software.

Since I love flaunting my computer ignorance, how do you get them opened and extracted without one of those programs? They always prompt to be opened by WinZip and then I'm told that my program has expired.

Well if it's just a .zip file then windows has a built in zip extractor, if it's a .rar then you'll need another program like winrar or 7 zip.

Okay, I'll keep my eyes open for those. Thanks. I'm really pretty computer illiterate for most things beyond the internet. X_D

7-zip is the best option atm, or like Alice Lawless says, WinRAR says it expires, but works afterwords

Can someone link me to a good site to download one of the programs mentioned above? I tried googling it but I get a lot of websites that I'm not sure I can trust and I don't know which link I actually need to click without hitting an advertisement or even something worse.

Thank you, MrKoippa! That worked brilliantly and I don't feel like a total idiot, which I appreciate. :)
