During my highschool days, I began to find interest in watching shows and keeping up with them. One of the first shows being Heroes. I would always use the channel guide to see when my shows were coming on, and in the midst of searching, I came across a show, simply titled "House." I thought it was a reality show about houses...I had seen a bilion of these on TLC, so I skipped over it thinking I already knew what it was about. A few years later, one of my friends was talking about the show. I asked him what it was about, and he informed me it was about a doctor named House--not a show about houses. Again, I had seen a few doctor shows, such as E.R., and at the time really had no interest for them. So of course, I just continued to skip over House. One night, I left my tv on after watching some show and House came on right after it. I decided to be lazy and just leave the channel. Afterall, if it was that bad, I could just change it after the commercial. I casually watched the show and it had been entertaining me. I had glanced over at the clock to see the time and an hour had already passed. I was shocked! Luckily for me, the follow up episode of House played right after. I HAD to see it. After viewing these two episodes, I was in love with the show and emoitionally attached to the characters, despite not having the context of the previous episodes. In addition, my mind was left blown into little bite-sized pieces. This was the two-part finale of Season 4. Now I don't want to spend too much time talking about the episodes because they reveal a big spoiler to the season as well the show as a whole. But I will say this--the episodes were cleverly crafted and the director(s) did a phenomenal job. As a matter of fact, after viewing the finale, I started watching the current airings on Fox. I started with the ending of Season 6, watching it currently until the end of the shows eighth and final season. I then bought Seasons 1-4 to watch in order. I have just about seen every episode, and each episode multiple times, especially the earlier seasons (1-3). If you have not seen this show, please, do yourself a very big favor and give it a shot! The first season is good, but the art style (particularly the lighting) is different than the follow-up seasons. Usually, this is to be expected with all shows though. Anywho, give the first few episodes a shot! For those of you who have seen House, I'd love to hear how you got into the show and what was your favorite season! If you want to talk about your favorite moments or episodes, feel free to do so as well! For those who have yet to see the show, be warned that the following posts may contain spoilers! |

I freakin love house! I was forced to watch it one day and I sure am glad I did. I love the way he is always sarcastic and not afraid to speak his mind. I really hated the season where the cop was trying to get house put fired/put in jail. I havent watched the last few seasons so I guess I need to get caught up. |

To be honest, I never saw what was so special about House. I mean, it is a good series, the character is very interesting and different but it's one of those series that gets repetitive and annoying to me. If it gets to repetitive and predictable it dies to me, and believe me, some of my favorite shows went from great to mediocre really fast, so I'm not being unfair. I think I never really liked hospital/doctors themed series anyway (except in a comedy setting like Scrubs) so maybe that didn't help I guess. I'd watch an episode now and then if it was on but didn't follow the story. I did see the last episode 2 or 3 times though :). |

House is a strange program. I mean, it's a mystery who-done-it (or rather what-done-it, since you have to work out the cause of the illness), but since most of us aren't doctors and have no medical knowledge, then the mystery shouldn't be too interesting to us. But the program is, to me, the definition of compulsive viewing. It's Hugh Laurie who makes it so riveting. His performance as House is amazing, he really make the character seem alive. Even though House is a misanthropic, cynical, not pleasant person (and therefore not the person you'd expect to be the star of the show), Laurie really makes you care about the character. The show has a a lot of flaws, such as being too surreal at times, sometimes cheating with the mysteries, and all too often the other characters in the show have boring story arcs, but I HAD TO watch every epsiode (after being introduced to it by a friend) as the main character was so hugely interesting. For all of it's faults, House is one of the best programs I've ever seen. |
