So I've been raking my mind to recall the very first video game I ever played. I'm down to arcade pacman, arcade donkey kong or tennis or that tank game (combat) on the atari 2600. I do think it was combat:![]() What was the first video game you played? Edited by bluedogrulez, Apr 21 2013, 10:25 AM.

Great topic, BDR! I struggle to remember the very first. We had an intellivision, but I don't rmember it. I remember my brother getting Mario for nes in 86. I remember watching him play it, Duck Hunt, Rad Racer, Spy Hunter, Top Gun, RC Pro AM, Hogans Alley, Double Dragon, Mario Brothers 2 ( my first video game), Zelda, and some wrestling game? I played them all when I was little. I am sure Mario was first, but can't recall the first time for sure. |

Nice, Stinger, those are all staple NES titles. I bet that Wrestling game was Pro Wrestling...it had an iguana-man and a guy that sort of looked luke hulk hogan and an EPIC 8-bit soundtrack! That was a great start to your gaming career! |

I got a GBA SP for Christmas when I was about 6, and it came with super mario advance, so my very first game was super mario 2, and ironically, about 10 years later, I've still never beaten it. |

That is a very hard question... But I think i remember: It was Pokemon Blue on Gameboy. I watched the show alot as a kid, but never knew a video game existed about it. My friends' dad at that time had an ol' Gameboy and I clearly remember him saying: ''Here, want to capture your own Pokemon?" And he handed me the gameboy and taught me how to catch Pokemon. I think I never begged for a Gameboy so hard in my life

I'm sure it was either Pac-Man or Donkey Kong for Atari 2600. That was my first console and I had both of those games, along with many more over the years, but I am sure I played one or the other first. |

I think I first played Megaman X when I was two or three. I wasn't very good at the Megaman games as a kid, but I could get decently far in Mario World and Mario All-Stars. First PC game I played was probably Doom, Doom II, Quake, Quake II, or some other FPS. That probably would've been when I was around three or four. |

My very first gaming experience was with a Commodore 64. I think my old man got given one from a bloke he worked with. We could never really afford to own any of the consoles until I was about 10 or 11 I think when we got a Sega Master System 2. That was my first console but my first gaming experience came with the Commodore 64. Don't remember a lot of the games. I remember R-Type and Wizard of War mostly.

Priorities Red. Sounds like your were sorted. Unless you were playing games on them, there wasn't really a huge need for a computer. The internet hasn't been up for as long as we all think that it has. |

Well, for me it was exposure. All throughout the 80s I heard about Atari and Nintendo and Sega. I never once heard anything about Commodore 64 and Amiga and Apple II. Had I known about them I might have had the inclination to get one. But it is true that I mostly use my computer nowadays for internet way more than I do for gaming. |

Back in the day my parents had their Atari 2600 set up in the basement, and every day after school my siblings and I would go down there and watch cartoons or play games (if there was nothing on tv). I think the first game I played was Outlaw, though it may have been Combat, but Outlaw was definitely my favorite. Such a simple concept, yet so much time spent playing it.![]() Those memories are part of the reason I now collect 2600 stuff. |

today i decided to play the games again i played when i first bought video games. it was the year 1994 / 1995. i bought my first ever console, a snes, with the money i earned with a vacation job. with 10 games. it was a brilliant time. the games i bought then, were never surpassed. now i'm reliving those times, i pretend being back in 1995, playing those games like i just bought them. it's the best way to fully immerse yourself in nostalgia. the games i bought then were: - yoshi's island - secret of evermore - donkey kong country 2 - mortal kombat 3 - donkey kong country 3 - donkey kong country 1 - super street fighter II - tintin in tibet i'm almost through donkey kong 3. in between, i started a new yoshi's island file. throw in some mortal kombat 3, and soon to start a new secret of evermore file. me and my brother / sister had a blast discovering those games. games that have aged by now, get a new life as they are played together. for me it's 1995 again and i have the time of your life. what were your first games? your first brilliant game moments with family / friends? |

First video game i ever played was an arcade game called Sea Wolf. Back in the 70's they used to have lots of electro-mechanical shooters that worked with lightbeams etc. and i used to love those but Sea Wolf was the first proper video game i ever saw and played. First home console experience was the Philips VideoPac (Magnavox Odyssey2 in the US). My school buddy Donald's father worked for Philips and they always had the latest consumer electronics at home "for testing". One of those gadgets was a video disc player (way before VCR's hit the market!) and the aforementioned games console was another. It had a lot of game cartridges with it with all the standard games of the day like Blackjack, Tank Battle and similar early 8 bit fare. Fast forward to 1997 when my girlfriend moved in with me. She had a Super Nintendo and a bunch of carts: Super Mario World, Mario All-Stars, Donkey Kong Country, Mario Kart and a cutesy Japanese shooter... probably Pop 'n Twinbee. I really liked to play those games on lazy Sunday afternoons and she loved besting me on each & every game. When she left me and the country in 1999, she gave the SNES and games to somebody else, probably just to spite me. But all credit to her for introducing me to the wonderful world of Nintendo. And i soon discovered a thriving second-hand market online, picked up a few bits and bobs and the rest is history. Edited by Mk II, Jul 25 2013, 05:13 PM.

My first experience with gaming was with the Commodore 64. It was so long ago I can't remember many games that I used to play on it. My first gaming console was the Sega Master System 2. I played games like Sonic, Spy V Spy, Olympic Gold, any sports games really. My brother and I would often go down the road and hire games from the video shop and play non stop most weekends. EDIT - Looks like a couple of topics have been merged, either that or I'm replying twice to the same thread. Edited by DeeMoney, Aug 15 2013, 01:46 AM.
