My first gaming experience was intellivision, mission x is still one of the best games I have ever played. One of the first scroll'em ups http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI_anMcOHGo , TRON, Sea Battle and Empire Strikes Back still also stick in my mind.

From there, C64 (Law of the West, Test Drive, Last Ninja, Defender of the Crown, Boulderdash, Wizard of Wor) and Amiga (Monkey Island, Cannon Fodder, Syndicate, Worms, Lotus Esprit, Moonstone, Beneath a Steel Sky, Lost Dutchmans, North and South, Rambo III) some brilliant games on both of those systems and still ones that I come back and play to this day. They also taught me a lot, including programming through basic - I wrote my first text adventure in Amiga basic. If you havent played the games that I mentioned I highly recommend giving them a go!!

I skipped NES and SNES (although played at friends places - Super Mario World 3 was amazing) , had a sega master system but N64 was my first Nintendo experience - like OP I worked the holidays when I was 11 or 12 and bought a NEC 31cm TV and a N64 with Mario64. Goldeneye and Mario Kart will forever hold places in my heart like many others.

I was so young when I first began playing games that I'm not even sure which console I touched first.
I'm going to say Spectrum, which I'm sure I played, but I can't remember any games :S

The first console my parents bought me was the Sega Master System so the first game I played there was the built in Alexx Kidd :).

My first experience with gaming was with the Commodore 64. It was so long ago I can't remember many games that I used to play on it.
WOW, that is exactly what i was going to put LOL, my parent used to have one they used to do their accounts on and they bought me some games to play on it.

My favourite games i used to play back in the day that i remember was Commander Keen and Wolfenstein 3D, i recently joined Steam and bought these two games to relive my youth, great times. :D

Mine too, love the C64 as some of you know I have started collection for it. New game arrived today in fact. I remember lots of the great games I had and me and my mate even used to write games using the BASIC code, we had a great time with it.

We also had the earlier VIC 20 made by Commodore :-) For anyone interested there is a good forum here

I remember, when i was 13 back in 1994, i had never played a video game before. well, maybe the odd tetris rip off, but nothing worth mentioning.

i was "living under a rock" back then. jurassic park had just come out and everyone was talking about it, and i only had the sticker album but never saw the movie. that's how pathetic i was.

anyway, video games caught my attention. i saw various commercials on tv that just blew me away. street fighter, mario... i had absolutely no clue about the concept of video games. it felt like something beyond cool, it almost felt like contraband. but, my parents wouldn't wanna hear about videogames.

but then, one summer i had this vacation job. i earned something around 260 dollar, and it was the first time in my life i had so much money. with no clue of what i could do with it (i hadnt even entered a video game shop), i decided to buy my friend's SNES with ALL his games. he needed money and wanted to sell it to me. up until then, i had sporadically watched him play. he even let me use the controller on mortal kombat II. scorpion. sub zero. awesome! i had never in my life seen something so cool. super mario world. it felt like i had just discovered a new continent, like columbus did. how i wanted to delve into that world and see what it had to offer.

and now, i could have all those games and more!

my snes bundle came with the following games:
- super mario world
- mortal kombat II
- street fighter II turbo
- asterix
- lethal weapon
- robocop 3
- the terminator
- super mario kart
- parodius
- another world

it was like being offered the key to the toy store. i plunged in these magnificent games and let me experience one wonder after another. these 10 games would forever be the standard to which i rate games even today. i thank my friend Luc for introducing me into gaming. it brought color in my colourless life. it made me be cool at the schoolyard, even if it was only a little. My friend also introduced me to quality music. Without him i wouldnt have discovered killer bands like guns n roses, nirvana, ... He brought me interest in playing guitar. at one point I wanted to contact him to start jamming the guitar. But faith caught up on me. In 2007 he sadly passed away. i was devastated. i feel his presence when i play those games. those 10 games shaped my vision on gaming.

My very first Gaming experience was the NES I borrowed/stole from my dad when I was around 3/4 yo.

Played Mario (to hard) then I played Zelda (cleared) and continues my atventure on the NES for quite a while

When I had my own room and owned an N64, I raged and broke a controller and busted out a corner of my N64 ...
I still use that one to play =p
