I've got here a few grey controllers (from different sources/sellers) with some kind of rubber thing in the plug end.

Does anyone knows what it is and it is for?

Hum... so in NTSC regions the controllers have none of these things??

Ah! I had no idea! Because I've owned tens of controllers and all of them had this.

So I guess Nintendo at some point just made some of them like that. It's a shame because it looks really cheap compared to the solid plastic ones.
