My concert going has been very lacking in my lifetime. I've been to more shows that someone else wanted to go to then something of my own choosing. My dad took me to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band back in the 80s when I was still just a kid. I remember little of it because I didn't care for them. When I was married my wife and I saw Kenny Chesney once and Brad Paisley once and Rodney Carrington, which was actually pretty decent because he's a comedian and I laughed.

As for shows I wanted to see, in retrospect, I only got to see Henry Rollins of my own volition and it was a spoken word event instead of music. Argh, I've never really seen anything that I wanted to. Now I'm depressed. X_D

I'm bummed that I missed a bunch of shows that I could have went to over the years, especially in the 90s. Could have seen Pearl Jam twice in their prime while in Montana when they would open their US tours there. Could have seen Bush, No Doubt and the Goo Goo Dolls in one mega show and Big Head Todd & The Monsters in a nice little intimate setting but I never felt like going to shows back then.

I would have loved to see Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Marilyn Manson, U2, Foo Fighters, Chris Isaak and countless others had I ever had the chance.

Oh, I did see Third Day a couple years ago and they were good and all but I'd never been a listener of theirs and only went because a friend had a spare ticket and invited me.

Nice topic! BDR was big into alt rock in the 90s, as this list shows (all dates approx):

1991 Lollapolooza I (NJ)
Henry Rollins Band, Nine Inch Nails (sick!), Living Color, Ice Tea/Body Count (rocked!), Siouxi and the Banchees, Butthole Surfers (brutal) Jane's Addiction (glorious)

(PHI '91) Guns N Roses (amazing)
Soundgarden (just awful)

(VA '92) Lollapolooza II
Soundgarden (awful again), Pearl Jam (fantastic), Ministry (so loud), Ice Cube, Red Hot Chilli Peppers (oh yeah!)

(NJ '93) Lollapalooza III
Rage Against the Machine (great!), Tool (meh), Alice In Chains (great), Primus (everyone left)

('93 ish Wlliam & Mary) Nirvana (!!!)
Flaming Lips (horrid), Breeders (excellent)

(PHI '94) Lollapalooza IV
Breeders (great again), Nick Cave (blah), BEASTIE BOYS ( best show I ever saw), Smashing Pumpkins (dreadful, everyone left)

('94, Meadowlands, NJ) Guns N Roses (Axl left early), Metalilica (outstanding)

1993 (9:30 Club, Wash, D.C.) Cracker, and unknown band called Counting Crows (both great)

1994 (9:30 Club), Machines of Loving Grace, Corrosion of Conformity (decent)

1994 (American U.). Cypress Hill (just ok)

93-95 (ODU, JMU), 2012 (NYC): Archers of Loaf at various venues (4x). Surpassed only
by the Beasties

93 (Old Dominion U), 2011 (NYC): Superchunk. GreatOnly behind Beasties and Archers

1993 (NYC): Porno for Pyros (excellent)

1994 (Stone Pony): Matthew Sweet

1994 (NY): Soul Asylum (rocked), Spin Doctors (awful)

1994 (traxx, VA) Hole (undeniably great), Cracker (good again)

1994 (Garden State Arts Center): Duran Duran (ok)

1994-95 (NYC, JMU): Picasso Trigger (Great for unknowns)

1995 (Traxx, Charlottesville, VA): Dave Matthews Band. Last house show before touring nation, then world.

1995 (Stone Pony): Dramarama (great)

1995 (tradewinds, NJ): Juliana Hatfield (ok)

93, 96 (JMU, Cat's Cradle): Four Walls Falling (very good)

1996 (NY): Seaweed (fantastic!)

1996 (Stone Pony Big Top): Live (not my bag)

1997 (NYC): Blur (woo hoo!!)

2004 (Garden State Arts Center, NJ) John Meyer (great), Maroon 5 (ok)

2005 (NY State): David Matthews Bands (far less intimate than Traxx, lol).

2007 (Red Bank, Nj) Brian Setzer Orchestra (great)

2008 (Meadowlands, NJ). Rolling Stones (saw why they're legends)

2011-2012 (NYC, New Brunswick): Killing Time (2x) (awesome)

2013 (Meadowlands, NJ) Bon Jovi (free tix, but yeah good)

I know i'm missing a bunch of lesser bands, shows, but that's what memory recalls.

Thanks for the opportunity for this stroll down memory lane, Stik!

Wow, I've never really thought about documenting all the gigs I've been to.

Really looking forward to my next gig, I'd be surprised if many of you have seen them, but I'm going to see Blueline Medic next month. I'm pumped, they're one of my favourite bands and I've only seen them once.
The only other gig I've got lined up for the rest of the year is Fleetwood Mac, which should be good.

I also feel really lucky to have seen Descendends (now twice) and Samiam. When I was growing up and listening to their music I was certain I'd never get the chance to see either. Both were awesome gigs.

Other top gigs of the last few years;
Metallica
AC/DC
Them Crooked Vultures
Brand New
Anberlin
The Living End
Jimmy Eat World
Bodyjar/One Dollar Short/For Amusement Only/Antiskeptic
>For those of you that remember THPS 2 you'd remember Bodyjar's song 'Not the Same'. Great band!

The Living End were excellent.

I only saw them 1 or 2 years ago, they're seasoned pros now.
Great set list, they're not afraid to trawl their back catalogue.

For a three piece with a stand up bass you might think they'd lack stage presence, but very much the opposite - they put on an engaging show and a good time.

Their self-titled record is a classic - All Torn Down is a great song.

I went to the Big Day Out on the Gold Coast many years ago. 2002 I think. Does that count lol.

Other than that I have never been to a concert of any kind. One day, I'd like to see Metallica and should have gone last time they were here but didn't. One day, one day!! :D

kept all my tickets of every show i've been too. first one was Megadeth on November 19th 1999. my first show ever and Megadeth had a signing session right before the show. so not only did I see Megadeth live, but in real person too ! was truly awesome.

no way I could remember everything as i've been to probably over a 100+ shows since.

Samiam are awesome!
'Bad Day' is actually my least favourite song on that album - but hey that's the awesome thing about music, there's no wrong answers :yeah:
(unless your answer is One Direction, then you have a problem ;) )

STP and Filter? I'm so jealous man. ha I also love Volbeat and Airbourne that sounds like it's gonna be a wicked show too.

Before I die I definitely want to see Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters. BTW I would kill to see A Them Crooked Vultures concert, unfortunately Homme, Grohl, and Jones are currently working on separate projects, I hope they reunite in the next few years though.

Wow, Cooper, just wow. :w00t:

@Cabanon - Scott Weiland and STP parted ways in February of this year and both sides have even filed lawsuits against each other over who has rights to songs, the band name, etc. Its kind of a crazy mess. I wish this new "STP" luck but I think its crap that they continue to use the name without Weiland on board. I like Bennington and Linkin Park (which he's still the frontman for) but they should rename the band and just move on. Heck, they've even done this once before and it was called Talk Show, which wasn't that bad of a band for the one album they put out.

ah ok thanks for the info, i didnt know that. as much as I loved Linkin Park, it's not the same anymore and Chester has lost all his young magic he had. After since Live In Texas, which was :cussfit: awful, and a show 2 years later, I called it quit on them. just a personal choice.

Just chilling with Chester Bennington. Nothing unusual here guys.

I also got to meet Richard Patrick from Filter. Know what was interesting was that I got to see Filter, Stone Temple Pilots, Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), and three of the four members from Army of Anyone on stage together (that was a supergroup consisting of the DeLeo brothers [the bassist and the guitarist from STP] and Richard Patrick from Filter). And I got to see them all on stage together:

Oh yeah, front row or no show

Last night I saw All That Remains (again), HIM, and Volbeat. I met everyone from Volbeat but didn't get a picture with them because the security guards were double nazis. But I did get my drumhead signed.

This weekend was awesome
