As the world now knows the English Government is going to censor "Pornography" however I don't know if anyone else knows but it is much more. These filters contain proxy's and other "illegal" activities INCLUDING forums and other forms of public communication. As a member of N64 Forever I am annoyed that I may not be able to communicate with this forum because of the censorship and I am sure that others are feeling the same. Just a warning to all UK members of the forum. Jack |

You can opt out of the blocking by simply ticking a box on your internet providers website. Dont worry your porn and forums will be fine

Is it even possible to block an entire internet's worth of porn? If you were to download all of the porn on the Internet, how much space would it occupy? One could go insane pondering these questions... |

Wouldn't it be smarter to have the porn filter turned off by default? That way conscientious parents would have to go in and turn on the filter and then they could also password protect the settings while in the process. Having such a filter automatically turned on would never work here in the United States because you'd have a ton of people calling their ISP complaining about not being able to reach their favorite sites.

Short answer: no. But you can try and make a lot of money in the process because the work is never done. Sort of like the War on Some Drugs; a perpetual windfall for law enforcement and shady agencies the world over. |

The reason for the filter is because parents are too lazy to do it themselves, then complain when their child looks at porn Heck, I just have a basic free router from my ISP and all it takes it a dropdown box to block porn or so, I can even set up a second network with nothing blocked at the same time |

@ Grizz I'm not 1005 convinced that this filter is just for kids. The government are hoping that people will be too embarrassed to turn the filters off. Not me lol big brother wont tell me what to do, Only my wife can do that

Who would turn it on in general? All it means is innocent sites will most likely end up flagged incorrectly |

If you click on the link at the start of that story you'll see another story which states that this will not be happening in Australia. The government which will be voted in tomorrow (Saturday Australian time) stands apposed to internet filtering. This will not happen in Australia. |
