Alright Now for a personal issue I've been having lately. Since I was about 9 Years Old,I've been struggling with weight,When i played football,I would be lucky if could even play. And then when i got abilify, I soared my weight to 140 Pounds at the End of 4th Grade. Over the years,it slowly climbed, and i started to keep steady, until when my depression began a year ago,I began having comfort in food. That's when my weight started to really soar. Well in just 1 year i gained 80 Pounds and it really is getting horrible for me.i am Nearly 6 ft,237 Pounds and i Really need to get in shape before all of the health problems, and depression really starts to soar In.My Goal is to get to at least 180 or 150 Pounds,And i need to do that at least before the end of the school year.Do you guys have any Weight Loss success Stories or any tips to lose weight fast? I Really Need Them...To Impress the ladies, and have good physical and Mental Well being. I also am so sick of being bigger than the others |

Hi mate. Me too had some weight problems some years ago. Since two years I eat only all meat and fish types, eggs, tons of vegetables, fruits, almonds and dried fruits, oil (extravirgin) and sometimes potatoes and white rice. You can eat these things when you want and without limits. Cut all processed foods , sodas , colas , sweets, junk food, pizza, bread, nothing about these for some months. Very hard way but you will get in shape soon ![]() Many peolpe thing that running is the way. Dieting is the way trust me and if you add some weight lifting you can hit the spot ![]() I put another VAINGLORIOUS pic of mine. Hope it can be ispirational for you. (now I search an old pic to put alongside this one)

Hi Luke, good topic! First, i think you are very lucky to be 6 ft. Not all of us are blessed with height. And I think its great you recognize a potential issue and want to address it. That is a huge first step. I'm not a diet expert, and there are so many factors to weight gain/loss, like caloric intake, lifestyle (active or sedentary), metabolism, etc. When i was in high school, i had to drop from 112 to 103 for wrestling. Yeah, it sucked being that small and still having to lose weight. But i did it mostly by drinking a ton of water, no sweets whatsoever, and having normal portions of of normal foods but without sides or condiments. Another words, dropped my caloric intake a ton. I was very active too with wrestling practice (hellish) but i wasnt running or lifting on my own. Exercise is important too. A nighttime jog might be a good way to start. Is there anyone in your fam or one of your friend that might want to shed some pounds with you? That helps a lot and you can lend support and make it a friendly competition. My dad was doing this decades before The Biggest Loser and to much success. But please remember nearly none of us are meant to look like the high school QB. Its good to want to lose weight and set goals, but you gotta learn to love yourself regardless of waist size of your pants. |

Hi Luke, there isn’t a diet or exercises program that is perfect for everyone. It takes a little bit of experimenting to see what works best for you. Tracking daily calorie intake is usually a good start and getting an awareness to what is hidden in some foods. Starting by calculating your average daily calorie intake and decrease it by 500 or so calories, then slowly start lowering it. I don’t think extremely lowering calories all at once is a good idea both psychologically and physiologically. People that go for extremely fast fat loss usually burn out quickly. “Refuel” meals should be something to consider. They are normally named “cheat meals” but I think that puts too much of a negative spin on it and messes with the mind. These once a weeks will give you something to look forward to and has a lot of physiological benefits. Always have in your mind your goal but also focus on the smaller results. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Focusing too much on the end result and not the little steps will often discourage people. Enjoy the results, small or big, it will eventually get you to your goal. I haven’t said much a exercise, that is because, in my opinion, diet is a lot more important. Diet as in eating less quantity and more quality. Most people just straight go to Low carb vs high carb which is pointless when someone is beginning dieting in my opinion. Most people go low carb because they see results but most of the time glycogen has been depleted and it’s just water weight lost that comes back with carbs. Some people have a high sensitivity to carbs so it’s something to experiment with if need be later. Over complicating things like this isn’t usually needed. The most important thing in this is to not give up and keep at it. Results are rarely constant and everyone’s different, biomechanically, physiologically and mentally when it comes to diet and exercise. These are just a few starter tips I think are important. Well I believe it's a smart move to take advice from Italia64 since he's looking like a Greek god. lol.. In seriousness though a simple tip from me, which BlueDog also touched on is cut-out soda, fast food, candy, and that junk altogether and to fight the urge/curb cravings chew sugar-free gum. Works for me after I eat dinners like fried chicken and feel like I need to detox the next day. When I'm too busy to exercise I skip lunch, maybe do a couple sets of push-ups and eat a low calorie protein bar instead. I consider my build athletic and fairly muscular, but when I look at a guy like Italia in all honesty I become discouraged at ever becoming that in-shape, this is a no-judging-zone I'm not afraid to say it, haha. As a fellow man I'd love to have that kind of discipline although keep in mind when you see that, it''s the absolute pinnacle a man can achieve in his 20's, lol. Much kudos goes to Italia on those abs underneath the pecs, that's tough to maintain man. I'd love to hear your workout routine and what kind of supplements you take. Maybe create a separate topic, thanks! |

I used to think this way too. I was always underweight, extremely underweight! I saw people like that and got discouraged and thought I could never do that. I gave it a try and it became a massive part of my life and a big stress reliever. I'm glad I decided to give it a try. That was just over 7 years ago and I've only missed a few workouts since. I exceeded my inital goal but still off on my ultimate goal. So don't be put off by others that may seem initmatading, they all start from scratch. It's just a matter of sticking with it. |

Many thanks for the kind words TNT unfortunately my english isn't so good to talk in-depth about my diet/work-out but I can try.I'm an incredible lazy person but my goal is to live in shape so I have to match these opposite things. I train only three times a week, less than an hour for any workout. I don't have a good genetics, if I stop to eat very much I lost muscles soon and if I eat junk food too often I quickly get fat. So for me the way is steadiness and perseverance, I'm not like many bodybuilders "no pain, no gain", I don't train hard, I take it easy but I don't miss a meal or a workout. So this can works for Luke too: don't trust when you heard about a miraculous diet or workout. Experiment to your body the better training way and try to eat cleanest as possible (only natural food is a good way), and if you discover if you're lucky maybe you can get more cheat-meals than the average peolpe (like me). More is not better, don't stop do it is better. Obviously I follow the natural way, just amino acids sometimes. Edited by italia64, Aug 30 2013, 09:45 PM.

One exercise that i found really really good was Jump Rope, Ive lost about 7kgs over about 3 months (might not be alot to some but im happy so far) Doing Jump rope 30 mins a day, Doing Weightlifting and eating low calorie foods, Having Water instead of Soda or things like that. counting my Calories helped alot aswell. Eating less thank 1200 cals a day is bad for you. Your body goes into starvation mode and you store more fats etc |

OK,A Little Bit of a Update...I finally found the right diet for me,and it is really going great, because I was 240 at the beginning of the year, and now I am 213,which is really great.I feel alot better now,and I have much more energy than i have in awhile. I am still losing weight, but right now, since you really can't exercise during winter,I am pretty much just maintaining the weight until it gets warmer. It is pretty good, because everyone has been commenting on how good i look, and it does give a boost to my Self Esteem. I have exercised alot more than I used to,and I do do dancing..when noones around that is . Anyway, guys thanks for giving me great tips for getting me in shape,i really appreciate it,and I look and feel alot better than i have. I will still continue losing weight though

Wow,its been awhile since ive updated this thread..anyway some updates I had a horrible and i mean horrible stomach bug on the 7th of Febuary, which really messed up my stomach because after that,i could not eat anything without feeling sick to my stomach,or feeling like i had to hurl. It really started affected my appetite,to where i just stop eating because everytime i did,it would make me feel horribly nauseous. It really took a toll on me on washington dc trip with my school, where other than having anxiety attacks,i had 2 bouts of a low blood sugar reaction, which made me hypervenilate, and all of the symptoms. After that,my stomach just started getting worse...and it got to the point where i was losing more weight than i should. sugar was higher than it should, and ended up going to the er on the 9th of april, where i found out that the culprit was focalin,my adhd medicine. I got all of my stuff sorted out,and now i take antiacid for my stomach. My doctor also reccommende dthat i dont lose anymore weight because of my height and i have made good on the promise, and have pretty much maintained it at 205 at the moment. Thanks for all of the great comments,i really deeply appreciate it
