And playing classics off-screen is going to be a selling point.
Ahh, of course, being able to play there games off-screen is a no-brainer! Now that I think about it, I spent more time playing NES Remix 1 off-screen than on my TV! :P

that I understand, it's like a TV, there shouldnt be any coding. the coding part is if they need to add interaction with the game and the gamepad aka old games with touch function.

There IS coding in everything videogame related. In fact, there is probably more code in the Wii U versions of those games. Keep in mind that they're not just taking the old NES game and then throwing them in the Wii U. They're porting the game to a completely different and more complex engine. Not to mention they probably also have to "rework" some of the graphical elements of said games to fit the resolution of the gamepad and such, and all the menus that can by accessed via the touch screen. All those elements have their own (sometimes small, sometimes huge) bits of code. ^_^

They shouldn't have to touch the actual games to work on the Wii U, any coding will be done in the emulator, otherwise it's just a case of wrapping up a rom in a emulator and releasing it, if I remember with the initial wii, you can even just throw any rom you want in the emulator if you hack your Wii

You may be right since it's a port from a Nintendo console to another.. The only experience I have with ports is porting to the Wii a game developed for the X360 and it required quite a lot of work, so I'd assume it would be kind of similar with this whole Wii U thing. :P

I knew that GBA games were on their way to the Wii U virtual console, but today I see that DS games are too. I would love playing Mario Kart DS on the Wii U. Looking forward to seeing what DS games get released :w00t:

Nah, Virtual Console is quite easy... the only time the actual game needs to be edited is if there is an issue with the release such as a license or so (punch out with mike tyson for example). otherwise it's just a case of having the rom from the game and packaging it with the emulator.

Does anyone know where to find any cheap Motion Plus? We've finally tried to play something that requires it

 Rookie mistake on my part, I totally forgot they run on a virtual console.. Hahah >_<

Poor Mike Tyson got edited out long ago . . . still haven't brought myself to obtain a physical copy of "Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream. :-X

Hey speaking of Mike Tyson, I'm going to see him perform tomorrow night! I can't believe I'll finally be in the room with that crazy but strangely lovable b-tard.

you mean the little add-on or full controller ? pretty sure you can still find some cheap game bundle with controller like Sling for Wii for 9,99$ or something like that. heck, even WiiU bundle with controllers are 45$

Theres no adapter, its built into the controller you'll need to buy a motionplus controller. The gold zelda one has motionplus and wii play bundle has it as well. Also I got my DKC:TF yesterday in the mail and IMO its the best Wii U game to date. Very challenging, so many details awesome level design and the best soundtrack I've heard since Xenoblade. Definetley reccomend it

I checked GameStop's website and they don't even have the accessory listed, so they may not sell it anymore (new or used). Amazon or eBay is probably your only choice.

If you want a Wiimote Plus, Nintendo's website sells a refurbished Wiimote Plus and Nunchuk together for $20. I bought one of these and it was in pristine shape, and definitely the best price I've seen for a Wiimote Plus and Nunchuk.

The Standalone adapter is £20 itself, remotes are around £40

Yeah I've got a couple of the adaptors that come with the protective sleeve for the controller. There's obviously a couple of different types.

Ah, sorry mate, didn't realise you were in the UK. Amazon or eBay is probably your best bet then.

Just beat world 3 on Tropical Freeze, I don't know how Gamespot said its level design is dull, uncreative, and has cheap and hard platforming, when its probably the most detailed 2d platformer ever, and is just challenging. If you have a Wii U definetley pick it up eventually

So Amazon is selling Wii Party U for $39.99... which is $10 less than regular price, and (!!) is the same price now as the regular price of the Wii Remote Plus. Which basically means you get a free game with your Wii Remote.

Tempting...
Now Playing: Clash Royale (mobile), Gravity Rush 2, Rayman Legends, Project CARS, Uncharted 4 Survival Mode ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Amazon is also selling Mass Effect 3 for Wii U for $10.99 w/ free shipping (order over $35). I'm up to my eyeballs right now in modern games I have no business (as a retro gamer) playing, but so darn cheap . . . .

Unfortunately my friends and family think Wii Party looks too generic, so no Wii Party U for me. Gonna have to wait for the next Mario Party game to get my party on.

Mass Effect 3 has been cheap for a while now. I'll probably grab it, but I've been waiting for something else to drop in price too so I could get the free shipping on Amazon. Might also grab Wonderful 101 but those two together still aren't enough to reach the free shipping. It's certainly been annoying that the shipping threshold was raised!

Wonderful 101 is my favourite game on the system by far, it's a must have.

And yeah, I've hardly ordered from amazon since the free shipping went

It's nice to see them doin limited editions for once, they never used to do them but we've gotten one for Skyward Sword, Wind Waker HD, and now hopefully MK8. Also in bad news
Watch Dogs will be coming out May 27th for all systems.... except Wii U. Not sure how Ubi thinks it'll sell more on Wii U if they release it last but whatever that's there problem.

I think it's funny how they included the spiny shell, since that's the one thing people really love about the game...
