im beginning to make some progress in reading the Wii U gamepad properties in javascript. I'll probably have a demo online in a day or two UPDATE: javascript performance isnt very good. Forget about real-time animation etc. Edited by Mk II, Dec 1 2012, 03:56 PM.

Would someone, anyone, do a video of Mario Kart Wii or Super Smash Bros. Brawl running on a Wii U that's connected to an HDTV via an HDMI cable. Pretty please, I'll be your bestest friend.

Im amazed at the capabilities if this machine. Had a huge play with it yesterday and loved every minute of it. Although I have found Zombie U to be quite hard. Especially when you are mauled by a number of them in a dark subway station.

Yup, it IS an amazing machine! ive hardly really gamed with it so far, all the other features are so interesting to explore. It feels as if Nintendo has finally arrived in this millenium. They may be slow, but when they do something they do it well (Virtual Boy excepted) Like last night Vekoma64 and I had a long video chat session (sorry about disturbing your Zombie U game!) It just works. no setup, a simple interface anyone can use and good quality audio & video with just a little lag. No need for a 1000$ PC and a Skype account to make those long distance calls. And you can draw silly things on each other's face!

What a great machine the better then the wii and the best console for me so far since the N64. NintendoLand has only grabbed an hour of my time so far and I find it good but not amazing. NSMBU is the best NSMB game yet as I was not fan of the Wii game this took me by suprise. ZombiU is hard, cruel and unforgiving. The more I play of it the more I like it. Not many games do I ever have to run away, far away and plan what am I going to do to survive. Sonic Racing is good but I have noticed some texture issues and framerate issues on later tracks, never game braking though. The game pad, Miiverse and browser are fantastic and much better then I thought it was going to be. It was great to have a chat with MkII on Wii Chat and simple too. I will add you tomorrow Dee Monkey after college...if i get to colege has it is snowing quite bad( prays it gets bad) as I never noticed any friend requests before I switched it off. There are some places Nintendo could improve some functions, like notifications for messeges and friend requests though but it is early days.

Sorry I missed this topic for a while! I have been gaming lots with the WiiU and NintendoLand with 3-5 friends. I must say, with 5 people it is an absolute blast! Dont get me wrong, it is fun with less people but optimally it is the most fun playing with more people for Chase Mii, Sweet Day and Luigi's Ghost Mansion. I was under the impression that the WiiU did not really upscale Wii games but I might be wrong. I have not played a Wii game on it yet - I wanted to figure out how to get my Wii save files transferred over first. Also, my name is Collecting101 on WiiU - feel free to add me |

added! BTW: i really like the way the Home button briefly flashes when a friend comes online. And the virtual keyboard works really well, love how the dictionary suggests words without getting in the way like cellphones. |

I'm so tempted by this, I really want one but I made this mistake with the 3DS and I hardly play it. I dont think there are many games on the 3DS which are worth my money. I'm worried the same will happen with the Wii U, was never a fan of the Wii and a lot of the games were just bad. |

Yes, but you also missed out on Super Mario Galaxy, Skyward Sword, Donkey Kong Country Returns and many other very good games. Every console has a few gems but the Wii platform was flooded with a lot of horrible "casual" cash-ins but you can really blame Nintendo for that. |

I agree, my wife has a Wii and I have the 2 Zelda games which are great but thats the problem I have the 3DS, the selection of games that interest me are so small. From the launch games for the Wii U only 1 or 2 sound good, the rest I either have on another platform or just sound like filler games. I'm hoping that good games get announced/released after Xmas coz I would love to get back into Nintendo gaming again...................I am sooooooooo tempted though and I just got a £1000 xmas bonus just burning a hole in my pocket

For any Nintendo console, I know there will eventually be roughly 20 games I really want to play. For the 3DS right now, its just Super Mario 3D Land, Star Fox 64 (remake), Zelda OOT (remake) Mario Kart 7, Paper Mario, New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Kid Icarus. Really, thats only 5 games so far with 2 remakes. That number will get to 20 for me by 2014 which is the standard for main Nintendo games. There are numerous other masterpieces, you just need to figure out your interest and dive into them. The WiiU is the same. I love Nintendo Land and will definitely love Super Mario Bros. U, but the others I just need to try out. |

Quick question, when playing the Wii games on the Wii U does it still have online play? Also does ZombiU have a story or is it just try to stay alive as long as possible? |

yes. You can even use the Wii Shopping Channel and buy VC games. In Wii mode, the Wii U is by all means and purposes a Wii. |

I took it over my mates house to play but took over my Official Wii Component cacle because of his non HDMI amp. I could not get the machine to display on his LG HD TV with that lead. I tried changing settings, resolutions and could not get it work. We used a a HDMI cable in the end but you also can not put the audio out via component/hdmi combo which is really annoying.Still got to play some multiplayer Nintendoland and it was fun. Real shame that this game is not online as I feel I am missing out. ZombiU does have a story which is between the Preper and yourself through the gamepad. The character you play on screen is not really the focus, so even when you die the story does not reset. The charcters are given some unique features like voice, sex, job and age. The game provides newspapers to pick up that give more details on the days before and at the start of the "Blight" as it is called. The enviroments and all these features create a story but a story is not somthing the game pushes hard bcasue stories are nice but this more about survival. Edited by Vekoma64, Dec 6 2012, 09:38 AM.

Wii games and VC/Wiiware games are only supported by original Wii controllers. The new pro and WiiU Gamepad do not work and switch off when you enter Wii mode. Threre is no Pro Logic II support and all Wii games revert to stereo which is really annoying. |

You need to create at least one user with a (new) Nintendo Network ID. The username can be the same, but your existing 3DS account wont allow you to login on the Wii U. AFAIK there will be system update in 2013 for the 3DS that will enable use of the Nintendo Network ID across both platforms. |

Remember to keep adding your WiiU username so we can keep in contact through the WiiU system. Only if everyone who own's one is happy with this. lol Might be a good idea like some of you have already done to put this in your signature. @lithium still waiting for your friend approval on the Nintendo network

Thanks MKII, my user name is Read1ngFC with a one instead of an i. One question, I didnt get a nontendo club code to register my console and claim my points. Is this missing or will they be added via my email address or something? |

ah yes, i had the very same problem. I thought the PIN code was missing and even called the Nintendo Helpdesk about it but they didnt have a clue (they clearly hired some temporary staff for the launch). If you have a Club Nintendo account and have setup your NNID, go to the eShop menu and scroll down thru all the options (under User Settings? something like that, my eShop is in Dutch) There's a button "link Club Nintendo account" or some similar text. Click it, enter the registered email address and password for your Club N. account and it will link up with your eShop purchases. And next time you log in to Club Nintendo and fill in the Wii U survey you will have earned 1000 points for registering the console. ps: i'll add your NNID to my friend list tonight.
