thats a shocker. it's like they're saying "old controllers are better than the newer !". I understand they're trying to please a very specific SSB crowd, but c'mon, it's admitting defeat. |

i'm critical over this. the wii had gamecube controlle support built in, but i havent used the GC controller a lot (despite it having a flawless design). it's all very cool to add GC controller compatibility, but make sure all the games work with it. on the wii, it was logical to have GC controller support since it was BC with gamecube games. but the wii U isnt compatible with GC games (apart from the virtual console library which is very small as we speak) all these updates and additions are good steps in the right direction, but im still not convinced to buy a wii u. i would buy a wii u if I had the following options: - a Wii U pro controller pak - gamepad is not mandatory anymore for any game (apart from the ones like nintendo land which need it by its game mechanic) - more console color options including gamecube indigo - backward compatibility with gamecube games - a realistic new zelda game a la twilight princess / OOT |

Allowing Wii U owners to use wired GameCube controllers for Super Smash Bros. IV is analogous to allowing Street Fighter players to connect wired fight sticks to their Playstation or Xbox product. Remember folks, you can't use wireless controllers in a tournament setting because of the radio frequency interference from so many people in one room. Support for the GameCube controller on the Wii U is brilliant because it opens the door to HD updates of GameCube classics on the Wii U's Virtual Console service. Just imagine how fanatic these three games would be in true glorious HD?!

A lot of people say that buying a refurbished Deluxe Wii U directly from Nintendo is a pretty good deal. Rumor has it that Nintendo in actually gives out brand new models at a highly reduced price this way. Helps the company grow its installed userbase for the Wii U and is still economically feasible as they circumvent retailers.

Well, they'd have to design a new controller anyways for smash, since without a wired controller option, the Wii U can't be played in a competition, may aswell make it what people are asking for. |

While the ability to use a GameCube controller isn't a big deal to me when it comes to Super Smash Bros. (I already own a Wii U Pro Controller), the adapter is still great news for me as I can now use my GameCube controllers to play Wii games compatible with them. I'll finally be able to play my copy of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core again. Trust me when I say the Wiimote+Nunchuk controls is no way to play that game. |

Isn't Watch Dogs available on several consoles, though? |

Yes, the chart I was referring to was software of all platforms. The top spots were the following: (NE) [PS4] Watch Dogs (NE) [XBO] Watch Dogs (NE) [WIIU] Mario Kart 8 (NE) [360] Watch Dogs (NE) [PS3] Watch Dogs |

You can't fairly compare a multi-platform game like Watch Dogs to an exclusive like Mario Kart 8. At the end of the day, Mario Kart 8 seems to be accomplishing exactly what Nintendo hoped it would do for them which is boost sales of the Wii U. |

Can someone confirm if I can use a USB flash storage for the extended memory or does it have to be a HDD, If it has to be a HDD can it be one that is powered by the USB and not another external plug? |

You can use a flash drive but Nintendo advises against it. A chip based storage medium just isn't up to lots of read & write operations and before long it will fail. A decent hard disk is much more reliable for this kind of use. You can use a USB-powered HDD but then you to have to connect it to TWO USB ports with a Y connector cable. One port will not deliver enough juice. My advice: get a HDD with a proper power supply. |

So MK8 sold 1.2 million worldwide which, for a console with like what 7 million sales is pretty good. Comparing its sales to watch dogs which was overhyped and being advertised everywhere on consoles that have bigger install bases, its obvious why it sold more.

The SD card slot is not used to store games or save data. And you CAN download games again - i had to download all my old purchases when my console was replaced. No problem at all |

Does anyone know how to turn off the Gamepad while playing a Wii game that was booted bypassing the WiiU menu? I know there is a way with the VC games. And if you enter the Wii menu manually it asks if you want to stream it in the gamepad. But if you bypass and play the Wii game, when you press the home button on the gamepad it won't open the settings. |

Thanks for the replies MK, its good to know I can re-download my games. Looks like I need an external HDD now though, thought 32GB would be more than enough but then Nintendo decided to keep giving away free games lol. Downloaded Sonic lost world last night as my 2nd free game in the MK8 promo and got a £5 premium voucher for downloading games for my Wii U LINK so i finally own a link to the past. I have never completed this game so as a freebie its great Edit, just checked my premium account again and thanks to downloading Sonic and Zelda I have another £5, that means that I got MK8 with 2 free games and £10 preimum credit, thanks Nintendo
