I guess I could keep the consoles in lockstep as far as game progress, downloads, etc.

nope. When you transfer the user data to another Wii U, the user data (and NNID) on your old Wii U will be gone.
Otherwise you'd be able to install and play the same stuff on two consoles.

Wow, that's kind of a (MASSIVE) stinker. I've been downloading and playing the same games (and even the same save files, thanks to the cloud) between my two PS3s for 5 years now, which has been incredibly convenient. If Sony hadn't allowed it, I would never have gotten the 2nd machine.

:nope: :nope: :nope:
Now Playing: Clash Royale (mobile), Gravity Rush 2, Rayman Legends, Project CARS, Uncharted 4 Survival Mode ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Yep. It really is a SYSTEM TRANSFER TOOL (nomen est omen).
the 3DS has had a similar tool for a long time already and it works along the same lines.
Up until now you had to get Nintendo to do this so it is very convenient for those who really need it but 99% of Wii U owners will never use it.

I'm never going to transfer my data from one Wii U to another. Heck, I didn't even transfer the data from my original Wii to the Wii U.

I'm very excited! However, I will wait for the hype to die off and let some real reviews come through before I make the purchase :coffee:

I'm going to do this too. Mostly because I'm not the biggest fan of Musou style games, although I gotta admit that Hyrule Warriors does look like mad fun in the trailers. :)

Anyone picking up Wii U Sports Club today? I'm pretty tempted, but me and the kids are really enjoying New Super Mario Bros. U, so I may hold off. But it looks great and am particular interested in Baseball and the more skilled hitting required. The golf putting looks pretty great too though I cringe at the thought of my gamepad ever being on the floor :phear: .

Playing through Splinter Cell blacklist and its really good graphics are great and the story is pretty good too. Dont usually like stealth games and Ive had this one a while, gave up on the opening level as I kept getting seen but I'm glad i've gone back to it. I recommend picking this up as it can be found pretty cheap/ :yeah:

I loved the first one on the original Xbox but lost interest after that. Blacklist is good because you can pick your play style so if i do get seen I can just go Rambo lol.

I brought deus ex human revolution at the same time but really cant get into that game at all. Maybe I'll try that again next.

NES remix 1+2 to get physical release. Glad I held off buying it on the store as I much prefer the disc versions.

Yeah, i know some folks are a bit chaffed about this especially those who just downloaded Remix with their Club Nintendo rewards, but here's my strategy: keep playing the downloads and buy a used physical copy a few years later on the cheap.

You know, I was thinking about whether the current Gen will have the same appeal to gamers 20 years on. The DVD case seems to me to be less of a novelty than cardboard (often thrown out), but more importantly, kids today have so much (activities, games, electronic devices) that I wonder if they will develop the same attachment to games of their youth that we all have to game of our youth . . . .

Case in point, I recently learned of the special edition, Japanese-released Monster Hunter Wii Classic Controller. Really cool looking, and one can be had for under $50, but will it be a collectible? Does anyone really have an attachment to the Wii Classic Controller? How about that version of the game (so many versions)? I suppose there will always be a small niche of collectors in every generation, but I cannot help but think the circle will evolve to grow smaller and smaller.

I do not really have an emotional feeling about this, but just think about this in terms of stashing new stuff for the long-term.

Interesting thought, BDR. As more and more goes digital, what attachment is there to the physical? The experience of buying a game is changing a lot right now. I remember checking the store for weeks hoping that I would find a copy of GoldenEye 007, but it was sold out for ages! Now, just hit download, go do something else for 30 minutes and come back and your game is ready to play. The act of acquiring a game isn't so much a thrill. (Man I sound like such an old geezer...)

For me though, a physical release for NES Remix moves it from a "I'll get it someday" to a "must buy".

Which game should I download as my Gold Gift from Nintendo; Ice Climbers or Kid Icarus? I'm not much of a fan of 8-bit games which means I'll probably never complete either one so which is better in the early stages? Thanks.

Oh Kartmaster, you do kinda sound like an old geezer. Digital Distribution is the future, embrace it. ;)

KID ICARUS!!! Both are pretty hard, but Kid Icarus is a BRILLIANT game. The music is enduring, Pit is cool, the controls are decent, the characters are well done (REAPER! and Baby reapers!) as are the many levels, and the game play is Nintendo hard, but fun.

Ice Climber is good for an early title, but lacks depth. Like a Co-op game of the era.
Oh, these look fun! And yes, Floorcat, one is PINK :yeah:

Took your advice and downloaded Kid Icarus this morning. So I now have three games for my Wii U and two I got free. NICE!

The next time you are on, be sure to let the title screen of Kid Icarus play to let that great theme sink in :yeah:

In all honesty, I'm somewhat disappointed by Mario Kart 8 but I'm still holding out high hopes for Super Smash Bros. Wii U. Maybe when it's released this winter we can work it in to our Friday night rotation of North America versus Australia tournament of champions?

My Bad experience with the free game of Mario Kart 8

Well I got myself Mario kart 8 SPECIAL edition for a wonder-price for 30 euro. (sealed!)

so I enter the brand new code for the free game and I get >CODE INVALID CODE 107-6561< and I swear the game-code was correct

I enter the Code on nintendo club and I see >Code invalid<

I create a Club Nintendo Account, and enter the Club-Nintendo code and it said >Mario kart 8! register now<

which is good.

I finished created my account for Club nintendo!

Then I went on my WiiU and try to Sync Club-nintendo account with my Wii-U account..

>Username or Password not correct< which is BS because I always use the same username/pass with every account I ever created.

so after trying for an hour I give up.

2 hours from now it expired.I give up

I did not felt good about it ... I gave it another go and I solved it..

The issue that Username/password was not correct was because (I think) the server needed to process my account and it took a while!

and then on the WEBSITE I could choose for which game I would download and I got a code from it! =D

after doing everything fast when I figured what to do.... I was just in time (Dutch time)

My little brother loves Mario+Sonic so this one is for him =)

Count me as amongst the surprised that the Amiibos will cost less than $15 (actually same or less than Skylander figures). Oh Samus, you will finally be mine.

$12.99 huh? Sounds reasonable to me. Looks like I'll be getting a Mario figure for myself. Can't wait to train the little guy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. :)

I'd love to see it come to the Wii :Wii U: here in North America. :w00t:
