I haven't played online with my WiiU but will do very soon. Somehow I'm already anticipating problems of that kind...

By the way, the WiiU is 2 years-old as of TODAY! So happy birthday WiiU :yeah: :gift: :gift: :gift:

depends on the connection and how many devices. Wifi phones are a mess with wifi signal, they jam up the connection badly, especially the upload rate. the only fix was running Ethernet cable to all my devices (laptop, ps3, xbox, amplifier, tv). after that everything was good.

Well, Nintendo does not always play nice with internet connections.
i have this weird thing that i can't use Wifi with more than one 3DS.
And i'm not takling about simultaneous use either... if i set up an internet cnnection on 3DS #2, the existing connection on 3DS #1 gets screwed up. Or vice versa.
WTF? That doesn't make any sense at all but it happens each and every time.
Took several hours of increasingly frustrating experiments before i figured it out.

Anywoo: multiple active Wifi connections is like asking for trouble.
Wifi isn't very reliable or effective to begin with and if you've got several devices all trying to get some bandwidth the performance will suffer.

I find the Wii U to be much less problematic on-line than the original Wii was. However, I'm still considering connecting my Wii U with my LAN Adapter to get the best possible connection when playing Super Smash Bros. Wii U on-line.

Are you running an 802.11g or 802.11n wireless router, Andy? The Wii U supports both standards you know.
I have a g router running on optimum cable internet. Tonight my iphone was rendered useless while playing bayonetta offline. Now my wii u is always connected so just that connection was hogging bandwith (and as MK said, not playing nice with other devices). This has not been a problem before, so I think I may need to reset my router. And upgrade to an N router, though I cringe at having to update all the wifi device connects around here.

I can't say I've reported any problems with the Wii U and my network. We don't have cable/sat so we stream everything. And there was a time when I was playing a lot of MK8 online. Mrs. Kart never complained about being able to watch her shows. And our internet out here in B.F.E. is gawd awful to start with.

But in my case is not just the WiiU itself I'm worried about. My connection is not the best possible due to the distance to the central. Then, becuase my street hasn't been updated yet for better services, the TV service is provided by ADSL and so part of the bandwidth is dedicated to that.

But we'll how it turns out when SSB gets released. I was also thinking about that LAN adapter.

I bought one for my Wii and it really changed my online experience from barely tolerant to excellent.

I'm really lucky with respect to how well my Wii U performs on-line, but then again it only sits about 1 meter away from my D-Link 802.11n draft wireless router. :D

I too have been think about upgrading my wireless router although I'd probably go with this thing if I could find it cheap enough.

I am really looking forward to SSBWiiU! :w00t: So much so that I'm even considering going to the midnight launch at my local GameStop. Does that make me a pathetic loser? :-8

No...unless you roll up in a van blaring REO Speedwagon and enter the store with wrist and head bands at 12 noon and camp out until launch, all the while lecturing those in line about the zen approach to SSB. Then, in that case, your concerns might be justified.

I dunno... can't see a reason why they shouldn't but i never believe any compatilbilty claims until i've tested it myself.

Nintendo. Not cheap but guaranteed to work.
My Wii U detected it correctly when i first booted it up and automatically setup a LAN connection.
And i'm a Nintendo collector of course so i'm always interested in official accessories anyway :)

Thanks MK ;)

I'm very curious to try it with the wireless connection 1m away from the router first and see how it works. Most probably I'll get the adapter anyway :)

Also: I just realized the WiiU has 2 additional USB ports in the back. Because i was here thinking that if the gamecube controller adapter uses the 2 USB ports in the front where would I connect the LAN adapter?? :P

Owners of the black Wii U have an important deadline!

As you may (or may not recall), by (1) purchasing 32GB system and (2) setting up a Nintendo Network ID, one qualified for the "Deluxe Digital Promotion" here in the States and the "Network Premium Promotion" in Europe. So what is the promotion?

With every eShop purchase (or free download) made on or before 12/31/14, you earn points towards a $5 eShop discount code. Basically, for every $50 you spend (or are credited with spending), you earn a code for $5 off a future purchase. You can check on your points progress at https://p.nintendo.net. I found out I've earned a $10 credit and if I spend another $7.99 before 12/31/14, will earn another $5 credit.

The points earned on or before 12/31/14 can be redeemed until 03/31/15, and, once redeemed, you have until 06/30/15 to use.

I don't understand why Nintendo seals almost every box now instead of using flaps and a clear circle sticker to seal them. Id love to open some of the new Wii U gamecube controllers i've gotten and look at them but I just can't bring myself to damage the boxes :-/

This is the age-old dilemma that every collector faces. My friend who collects Hot Wheels model cars very seriously buys two of everything. One to open and play with and the other to stash away for posterity. He actually got so addicted to collecting that he literally filled his entire garage from floor to ceiling with Hot Wheels. That's when his wife left him.

I got Super C for the virtual console. I haven't played that game since I was at least 8 years old. It's harder than I remember. Ha ha.

Well well. I seem to have $7 in my account  haha. I guess that's what you get for everything being super expensive in this part of the world ;_; They might be making up for it by adding the account money pro rata......

Has anyone had any luck buying Captain Toad Treasure Tracker in Australia? Apparently some stores have been selling it early (it isn't supposed to be out until January 3) and just our luck, that the local stores here either haven't had their deliveries yet, or sold out pretty much straight away since they recieved only a few copies :(

It's a testament to how strong the Wii U library is that I haven't even given serious thought to opening the PS4 I got for Christmas. Besides, Sony's on-line network got hacked so PSN has been spotty which really isn't very enticing with respect to setting up my new console. :-/

Just took a quick peek inside the box and confirmed that I do indeed have a real Playstation 4. Took a moment to fondle the lovely DS4 controller but still didn't feel compelled to hook the console up to my TV set just yet. I'm real patient that way.

I played Castlevania: Dracula X (SNES) on the Wii U Virtual console last night. Just wanted to report a few things about it:

--Could use the Wii U Pro Controller  (never been a fan of the SNES controller, a minority opinion I know)
--The screen retained a 4:3 display
--Graphics and sound were very good (probably 98% identical to cart), and no lag :yeah:
--Save states: HUGE.

I have quite a few Wii U titles in quene, but I could see dedicating some VC time to beat those games in which victory has proven elusive (Castlevania III (NES), I'm looking at you!)

If you are looking for a way to spend your Digital Promotion credits, Shovel Knight is on sale for $9.99 through 1/8/15.

With all of the rave reviews, I figured this was a must add at some point. The time would appear to be now. :D

Thanks for the heads-up! I've heard tons of praise heaped on Shovel Knight so it must be a really good game.

I'm VERY pleased with my Wii U purchase. Mario Kart 8 and Sm4sh alone have made it worthwhile so any other future releases are simply icing on the cake for me. I will say that if Star Fox U has an on-line mode as good as Star Fox 64's multi-player mode then I'll be in nirvana with my Wii U and its free on-line. :yeah:
