do you have wired internet ? get a wii LAN adapter, plug it in the back and never again worry about your connection.
I use PPPoE. The Wii doesn't support it, so it's doubtful that the Wii U does.

Anyway, it turns out that after you take the machine out of the box, you have to perform a Gamepad syncing procedure that requires a TV. So you can't use it TV-free without having used it with a TV at least once before...

It was fine the first day i played it but the whole thing crashed the second day meaning I had to pull the power. Day after me mates and I were playing and thats when it started. we decdied to switch our phones (iphones and android) to airplane mode and it didnt happen as frequently. I think maybe my phones WiFi is casing a problem? Dont have bluetooth switched on with my phone

Might sound stupid, but have you tried resyncing the controller to the console?
I had that issue with a 360 controller once and that sorted it.

I have had one crash and interestingly it was also why connected through a phone at my mates house. The PS3 can crash and require a hard reset when the net connection drops. At home though I have not had issue but I am connected with LAN adapter.

That is odd Buddy. I guess it wouldn't be to unforeseeable that there may be one or two bad one's out there that were produced. Hopefully there isn't too much stuffing around to get it fixed.

a lot of different wifi network activity in the neighbourhood can cause problems, this was also a known issue with the Wii.

I could never boot up my DSi or 3DS at my former place of work where they had several secure and/or encrypted wifi networks.
When i got out of range of those networks or disabled Wifi, it booted up just fine.
Logic seems to suggest they're using unsophisticated or even buggy network sniffing code.
And i'll bet a dollar that the same source code is used in al their devices.

Seems like a reasonable explanation. Sucks big time tho. Don't know if it's just devices in your home or if they are running stuff in houses around the area that be the reason.

Maybe Put tin foil all around the room that the WiiU's in. Imagine explaining that to your wife when she gets home "Why is this room covered in foil" UUUUMMMMMMMM :w00t:

  i think i'm just getting away with having a load of games and consoles everywhere. if i started covering everything in tin foil she's think i'd lost the plot

I have tried re-syncing but it tells me it is already synced. I also did a factory restore which didnt help.

May have to return it which sucks but we will see how it goes and what Nintendo have to say

So it's a little old now, as this controller has been released for a few months already, but any of you Wii U owners picked up the (3rd-party) Wii Pro Controller U?
Posted Image

If so, what do you think of it? I know you can't actually use it as a Wii U Pro controller, but have any of you tried using it with the Wii?? I'm curious to know how it "tricks" the Wii (U) console into thinking it is a Wii Remote (as mentioned in the Kotaku review)... as I'm actually quite interested in using this as my go-to controller for the Wii. Does it still require waving the controller around as a Wii Remote, or do the "motions" map to a thumbstick?

I had ordered one from Amazon a few weeks ago, but due to the style I wanted (Super Famicom version) being temporarily out of stock, I don't know when I'll actually see it delivered. If people have lots of good things to say about it, I may just cave in and buy a different color, and cancel my original order.

Yeah I bought a Black one at launch. I must say after many hours of gameplay with it, it has become my preferred controller.

Only issue I found was when I first got it. The buttons are under the analogue stick which was different from the Xbox controller which I was use to using. It took a little while (at least for me) to get a hold of knowing where the buttons are without looking down to check. Luckily now I can play it smoothly.

Not sure if anyone else found that.

Cool... thanks for the input, Dee! ^_^ How does the "Wii Remote" function work?

I'd ideally like the SNES (or SF) version, but I'm thinking I'll be happy with either the black or white versions... <_>

Yeah im looking at getting a SNES one, just cause it looks cool.

the Wii Remote function works exactly the same as it would when your using the Wii. As far as I know. Multiplayer games require this to work if you want to use more than 2 players. But im guessing if you have a number of Pro Controllers, you won't need to use them.

Although Some games do require it.

have you got a Wii U floorcat??

And no... haven't picked up a Wii U just yet. Saw a deluxe bundle sitting lonely on a store shelf earlier this week, but figured against it... my backlog is big enough as it is without yet another home console >_<

I saw one in person today for the first time (I don't frequent big box stores).... the control pad is pretty cool.

I'll probably be buying one of these after the initial price drop. I have to keep my "own every Nintendo console" streak going. :D
I currently own humble, but nice collections of NTSC-U; NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii

Currently taking a break from a 2012 collecting binge.

Oh well that's a shame. I was a bit skeptical about buying one when they first came out. But I thought stuff it and just bought one. I was not dissapointed at all. It has lived up to the hype IMO and is an excellent console.

free? well, the game engine is free but if you want to play for longer than 1 minute, you'll have to buy one or more tables. So the minimal outlay is 2.99 euro for a single table or 9.99 for a pack of of four.

For those of you who have a WiiU and ZombiU, what do you think of it? I've seen some gameplay of it and I think it looks pretty decent. Just curious how the whole game is.

I'm super curious to the Wii-U, but I am going to wait... With the other systems coming soon, I'd hate myself to not give myself the time to analyse and compare the three systems ahead of my next system purchase

ZombiU is a very interesting game on the Wii U. On a scale of 1-10. I give it a 7. It has challenge to it and is still a very fun game to play and enjoy. But don't play at this game at night! :P

Enjoying Zen Pinball but hope others are going to get the base pack so I have some more scores to try my hand against. It is a great game and loving the off TV play. I do find it strange you can not flip the screen around and play with it vertical like previous PSP pinball games. I really want some Nintendo tables too. I will not really buy all the tables for the Wii U as I already own then on various platforms.

@The Red Shadow. ZombiU, IMO is a great game. I've spent a little bit of time with and have enjoyed it a lot. If your into Zombie's then you will love this game. It's set in London and you have to go and do all sorts of tasks, risking your neck in the process, going through dark rooms and alleys in order to reach your objective.

The thing that I like is when you die (you will do this many times) you go back and find who you once were, smash there head in and take back the things that you had collected in your back pack.

It's very strategic, in that you have to work out ways to get around areas or through groups of Zombie's, as smash and run sometimes does not work.

I havn't finished yet, but plan to. It's hard in points, but IMO that's what makes it fun. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. A dark game, with only a light to guide you through certain areas can make you nervous, and when they jump out at you and make there vial scream it can scare the living :cussfit: out of you.

My opinion is it's a great game and makes good use of the gamepad when playing. I recommend that you get it mate, with a Wii U if you don't already have one. :smokin: :yeah:
@ Yogurt, I was a bit skeptical when looking at buying a Wii U, but honestly I haven't regretted it one bit. With the wait going to be at least a year for the other consoles, you can grab this and enjoy the heck out of it until then. :yeah:
