Just incase anyone here was expecting it to be cheaper or so, I heard some rumours on other sites that it's $80.

I don't see why we even need to worry about that. I don't see it breaking down and it should, I'm confidently saying, last the life of the console.

I think Matt might've been thinking about some of the same stories I read when the Wii U first came out...

i dunno, that Gamepad damage looks "shopped" to me
of course, if you stand on it with your high-heeled pumps or drop it from the top of the stairs the screen may break.
But barring major accidents i expect that my Gamepad will probably outlive me.

Yeah... the explanation was that the gamepad "fell less than a foot, off the sofa and onto the floor."
Must've fallen face-down on a toy or something... definitely a central point of pressure crack that a "floor" wouldn't have.

Gizmoslip did a Wii U gamepad drop test, and it seemed to do quite alright:

The person who told the replacement prices was getting a replacement due to a airline losing/stealing his gamepad, just thought because you never know what could happen.

Yeah true. I guess nothing is ever set in stone. I believe that they are going to be bringing in the ability to have another game pad as an option for play in the future.

Not sure when this is going to eventuate, but for me it seems like a waste. I really like the gamepad, don't get me wrong. But when I'm playing games, I prefer the use of the Wii U Pro Controller. In some games the gamepad is the only option which is ok for some games. But playing some sports titles and even FPS with the gamepad makes it that little bit harder IMO.

i wont hold my breath... maybe they will but due to the high price the installed base will be so small that developers will be very hesitant to add support for a second Gamepad.

Yeah Im not, I initially thought in the beginning that it would be in a good idea, but as time goes on Im kinda hoping that developers stay away from it.

In some instances it could work really well, but I think your right with developers possibly being hesitant.

Awesome that is a good price. Still waiting for the Wii U to start expanding it's library tho. Especially keen on the arrival of the new Mario Kart, whenever that may be.

Well when you think about how long it takes to develop the games and when the last games come out you should give them some leniency. Mario galaxy 2 came out only what 2 years ago and skyward sword was like a year and a half ago. Games take time to develop and they only have so much staff.

You cant really develop proper new games for a platform when the design hasn't been finalised yet.
That's why we only got a few Nintendo titles with a short development time at launch.
they've been using platform-independent level editor software for years and could design all the NSMBU levels without the Wii U hardware.
And NintendoLand is basically just a bunch of tarted-up tech demo's.
I bet work on Mario Kart and Zelda U started on the day the first devkits were delivered and it takes a lot of time to achieve the level of perfection we've come to expect from Nintendo games.

And in the meantime, we will get Pikmin 3 :yeah:

Playing quite a bit Need for Speed most Wanted U and it is really good. Although the game requires a cinema/warm 2 setting on your HDTV. I like a cold bright display and I thought it looked a bit blah. The textures were nice but the lighting and night time was just so blah. So yeah the game was set up to be played in cinema style and it makes some big differences if you have the picture set to warm 2, lighting and shadows now all look really good.there are some evil jaggies but it looks much better then on the other consoles. The digital buttons for acceleration and braking are a bit lame though . Its style of driving is very arcade like so it does get a way with it. However I like to drift using only throttle control and braking which really struggles to add depth and style. Real shame, but I am weirdo for racing games. I found the menus and map not very helpful and a bit confusing. Game pad play felt like it made the game much harder as it moves so fast. These niggles aside it is great fun game and worth a go. If you can all tear yourselves away from Monster Hunter.

I am a big fan of Shopto, they dispatched my Lego game today so it should be here tomorrow. NFS came a day early too which was great. I find there prices good both Lego & NFS cost £39.97ish. I will not give my money to Game or supermarkets plus Shopto sales are good thinking of picking up AC3 for £22.99, plus I like how their no hassle reward scheme works. Sounds silly but i will not be buying punch out. I never have been a fan and have tried all versions. I know it is only 30p but I would not have downloaded it even if it was free. Not my cup of tea but next month...yeahh nneexxt monnth yeahh

Enjoying the hell out of Lego City what a great game. This is the best Lego game i have played, very funny and although the loading times are bad and the graphics are a bit of let down the charm and art style make this a great new IP I thought i would post this link to amazon for anyone who is looking for a good deal on the Lego set linked to the game. Its on special right now. When mine arrived the mini figure chase was bagged so i did not have the heart to unwrap him and thought I could do with two. So I thought how much do they want for the set. The set comes with DLC so I thought I would go for it, cost me 14.99 plus free delivery. it gets me some DLC, Extra mini figure and lots of Lego to play with.

So now the Wii U is portable (kind of).

Portable

Not sure I would do this as the bumps in the road, sudden stops etc may scratch discs but still cool.

Talk on the street is that the Wii U is toast now that Sony and Microsoft are set to release new consoles this year. To be sure Nintendo needs to drop the price of the system since sales projections aren't being met but isn't it premature to say that the Wii U is a bust?

Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart will probably get me to buy a Wii U and a hefty price drop wouldn't hurt either but honestly a new F-Zero game that runs at 1080p and 60 fps or a proper sequel to Wave Race 64, also in high resolution, would probably motivate me more so.

Talk on my street is that Sony and Microsoft will find it very hard to convince Joe Public (ie NOT the hardcore fanboys) to spend so much money on a new console and new games at 70$ a pop.
Wii U will be much cheaper and have a considerably bigger software line-up this Xmas, including Mario Kart and Wind Waker HD.
Price cuts don't sell consoles, great games do.

WOW, 2 totally different opinions there. Honestly unless Nintendo start picking up there act with game releases then they are going to struggle big time. But with all the planned releases for the end of the year it should still be played out like it was last gen.

IMO Nintendo have been disappointing with there new console so far. There weak game library to kick off there console release has hurt them. I'm planning on picking up the usual Kart, smash brothers releases but really the Wii U will not be my no.1 gaming console. Once Xbox lets us in next month, then i'll make the choice on what I want to get. Most probably the Xbox as I have gone with them the last 2 gens and I'm not seeing anything from Sony that is making me jump in for the PS4. :D
