What a legend.

I will never forget his name due to it being present right at the end of the credits to all those iconic n64 games.
Burned into my memory forever.
Starfox and Ocarina come to mind with the bells chiming right at the end.

The impact this visionary man has had on the gaming industry cannot be overestimated.
And as a major shareholder, he still had a tremendous influence on the company he transformed from a humble playing card maker into the international gaming giant of today.
Condolences to his family and everyone at Nintendo

That is sad, and definitely something to think about as far as Nintendo's current position is concerned. His name isn't something that would ring a bell, but reading the above comments is nice. I'll be thinking of him as I pick up my new Wii U tomorrow morning :)

Super sad day and my deepest sympathy to all his family and Nintendo. A real gaming legend that will never be forgotten as long as video games exist. He was the right man at the right time with the right idea that created the rules and brought quality ahead of profit in order to insure profit.

what other man can say he gave the green light to so many of our gaming icons. :(

It is a very sad but inevitable day. While a host of people might not recognize his name they surely would recognize his footprint on the gaming industry. An amazing thing to think about is that neither Sony nor Microsoft has or had someone in the video game divisions of their company who has been there for as long as he was and touched so many generations of consoles and gamers. R.I.P. Hiroshi Yamauchi.

It's sad to see such a legend go. I wonder if he was aware of the millions of fond memories he is somewhat responsible for.

It will be a horrific day when Shigeru Miyamoto goes, the sky will probably go dark or something.
