Endure and survive...

Hello Nintendo 64 Forever members. I have not been a very good Admin for you all in a few months now. I have been a member here for ages, and was a very active staff member over the last few years. I had some issues happen in my life recently that coincided with some forum burn out. Long story short, I had to step away for a bit. I hydroplaned into a semi truck a few months ago and totaled my wife's car. This left me with having to drive my work van around. It gets ten miles to the gallon and I live forty miles from work. So we had to move in with my wife's parents for a bit so I could be close enough to afford driving to work daily. They have a pc with serious issues. It made it hard to ever get on even if i had the motivation. While waiting to acquire a new car, my dad loaned me one of his. I drove almost two thousand miles round trip to pick it up. Upon returning to town with the vehicle, some kids ran a red light and smashed the front end of it thirty minutes after I had gotten home. I got very discouraged. My time with my in laws became greatly extended. Our loaner car now has finally been fixed. we are at home again for a few days. Our bathroom flooded recently though and some repairs have to be made. We will have to move out again for a bit in a week or two. My burnout I feel came from the fact that I typically spent hours a day on this forum. When I wasn't on here, I was trying to think of ways to boost activity. I finally ran myself dry with the survey. Tallying the results became quite the chore. Soon the place a escaped to from stress became something I wanted to escape from as well. It felt like a job. I seriously debated stepping down as an admin. I could never follow through with it though when I tried. It hurts a bit to see how the activity has slowed here. I honestly blame myself. We had ridden such a huge peak for many months, a fall was bound to happen. I have full confidence that the activity level will once again increase. The rest of the staff has done a wonderful job of handling things. I did sneak by from time to time, and saw them hard at work still. I want to apologize to the members and also my fellow staff for largely abandoning Nintendo 64 Forever. I have made many great friends here, and no matter what I will always be bound to it. Like others before me who have poured so much time in here, I feel it is mine. That not the case though. Its all of ours. With or without me, this place would keep going. There is still a strong love for the N64 in the world. There is such a great core of members here. We have been blessed with a long existence. Our forum is several years old. It still has many years ahead. Though I may never again be as active as I had been, I will do my best to live up to my Admin title. I love this forum, and desire to serve it and its members So how have you all been? |

Thanks for sharing with us stinger - although I am very sad to hear of your hardships and bad luck. Hopefully recapping all that has happened wasn't too depressing for you and instead, you are able to use it as a means of venting to the rest of us. All I can say is to take it a day at a time, and to make the best of a situation. As cliche as it sounds, truly that's all that you can do. I am oftentimes still trying to remind myself of something I heard before, which is a great saying to recite to yourself: you can't be upset or angry at things that are outside of your control. I know some people might view that as a load of because you should be able to control and take action of your own life, but it still doesn't change the fact that you can't do everything for everyone all of the time. So in the microcosm of the universe - focus only on the things that you are able to handle, and to make do with what you have.To answer your question of "how have you all been?"... here are some highlights for me. - I moved... wasn't far, but about 40 minutes north of my old place. Previous apartment building got sold, so everyone inside had to move. - I turned 30. Many - I stopped working out. The past 9 months I had been quite the gym rat, going about 3-5 days a week. But since I moved and left my old gym where I had all my friends and my favorite instructors who taught the classes I liked - I've turned into a bum. Sitting at home, watching TV (I've knocked out the entire Breaking Bad series in about 2 weeks), watching sports, playing computer games, and doing nothing. I've probably gained about 5 pounds. Pretty depressing life actually. Lost some friends due to the move, got older, got fatter

Welcome back KC. Good to hear that your finally getting on top of things. Things have been good. Just the usual run of the mill stuff, going to work, chilling out, going camping etc. Heading into summer down here now, and things are starting to heat up quite a bit. |

Hey, whenever you are around, it makes this site all the better. There is no need to apologize and I'm sure we all sincerely empathize with a sting of terrible luck/occurrences. We're all pulling for you! Site burn-out can happen (I am leery of that 4,000 post threshold), but hopefully that will change for you soon and that excitement of seeing who posted what will return. Some of the faces have changed, but plenty of familiar ones (and some great new ones, too!) |

Gotta take care of yourself first man. You and your family should be top priority. We should be like, number five or something. You still gotta look after your job, your home, and your car situation. I've been less-active for almost a year now (about two posts a week but is till occasionally lurk). How am I doing? Well, I owe about $4,500+ in hospital bills. On the bright side I'm finally seeing a girl who's just as crazy about me as I am with her. Unfortunately she's not doing so well health-wise. She has CF and probably won't even live to see age 30. We met at a concert after talking about another concert we both went to two days prior and didn't even know the other went (Stone Temple Pilots w/ Filter, later went to see The Pretty Reckless in a completely different state and had an OMG moment). Her mom doesn't want her to date me because she just broke up with her boyfriend of three and a half years (about a week after we were dating... oops). Sounds like I'm now living the flip side of my story from last year when I was the victim to cheating. Guess I'm now the aggressor. Odd thing is, she too was in an LDR. Guess it's human nature for people to muck up like that. |

Hopefully you're on an upswing now Stinger. We missed you! I mostly lurk here now because my post had become too controversial.

Sorry to hear about your troubles and i'm glad things are turning around for ya! Everyone needs some time off from things eventually, especially if you've got alot going on in real life. I know all about that as i've been gone for a while myself.
