Alright so with the realization that my online precalc HW was due Tuesday I've come to the conclusion that I'll be failing the class as I had a 65 on my last average and the test I just took I got no more than a 30 on, and 3 0s for a hw. So basically I'm screwed. Also probaby going to fail my programming class since I couldn't figure out the labs at all. So my question is will this kill me in the long run? My mom keeps telling me that if I fail any class I won't be able to get into any school (I go to community college right now) Not only that but I truly have no clue what I want to do with my life and as far as a major goes. Any tips from those of you who graduated already? I could really use em =\ |

It's never too late to do anything, and failing a class will not throw your life away. It's a stick in the wheel, sure, but it doesn't mean you're stuck. i stopped school in High school because honestly, it just wasn't happening with me. It gave me time to find a full time job and get to understand the true consequence of a poorly paid job. If you can turn the boat around, do it now and rock those classes, if it's already too late, don't sweat it, it's just a short-term obstacle. Maybe you want something else? |

Having been to college and obtained a masters I seem to know the ins and outs of college lol. What is your major leaning towards and are the classes you are taking now intro level? If so then you have a long road ahead of you. Other schools will look at your grades when transferring and depending on the size school not let you in. What do you think is the main reason that you didnt do so well in precalc? Not enough studying? Didnt understand the coursework? Just didnt care? Be honest and then you will be able to figure out what you need to focus on. As for the labs and such you didnt ask the professor or anyone else for help? Not trying to pick on you but just trying to understand the causes. I worked a full time job and went to school full time and graduated magna cum laude majoring in Comp Sci so it can be done

Best advice in this thread so far. As somebody who's been almost exactly in your shoes, my advice is either: A) Retake your classes and get serious. B) Get out of college before you waste more of yours or someone else's money. I was smart in High School. But I was also lazy. When I got in to college, it really kicked my :donkey:. And the school or the professors didn't care if it kicked my :donkey:. And I was too proud to get help until I had already dug a deep hole. It is 100% true that if your GPA sucks, no school will even consider you. Been there done that too. College isn't for everybody. And I don't think it's required to be successful in life. But it depends on what you want to do (which I will grant you, is one of the toughest things to figure out in life, some people never do). Start thinking about what you enjoy doing in your free time and start from there. Whether you stay where you're at, or go do something else. You gotta come up with a plan. Sounds like right now you're just spinning your wheels. Give some serious thought to a direction you want your life to move in. You don't have to nail down a career path. But try to think about what you're good at, and what you enjoy, and start moving yourself towards a place were those points meet. Good luck. It is tough. |
