So I have seen lots of discussion on people comparing LCD to CRT TVs, but I don't see very much comparing different flat screens (LED, LCD, Plasma). Has anyone compared these? I've stopped trying to play my N64 for now as I have a cheap LCD that doesn't display it too well.

I'm not really in the market for a new flatscreen. I do have plans to get a crt, I was just looking for a bit of discussion on the displaying properties of the different types of flatscreens.

Not everyone has the space to keep a extra CRT TV on hand for legacy console gaming so it behooves us all to discuss modern HDTV's that do a good job with the N64's low-res output signal.

Exactly my point and the reason for this thread. I do have a new Vizio LED smart tv that I can connect to at home, I just don't use it for gaming so to keep my small children from getting into everything. Just trying it out will be fine though and I can at least give one example of whether a new tv works or not.

Well, just tried connecting to my 55" vizio m551d.

It seems to display pretty well, auto changes resolution to 480i for super mario 64 and changes to 4:3 aspect.

Unfortunately this tv does not have S-Video so I had to use composite. Still a nice picture though

Can all TVs change to 4:3 I couldn't find it in my tv settings?
I'm not sure if they all can. I didn't have to change any settings. Mine auto changed when I turned on the N64

I have a Westinghouse (27" I think) that I can't seem to change to 4:3 and displays my n64 horribly using S-Video. It natively runs at 720i with 60hz
