cant wait to see at what level im at compared to you guys lol x-mas aint coming fast enough ! I know MK64 with my eyes shut but the newest, not so much thanks to the ridiculous controls. I played with the kids this week-end and dang it's missing the n64 controller feeling, even with the classic pad pro.

Yeah I played some MK64 last week and I keep missing all the boosts at the starting line because I was used to MK8. The drifting took a little to get used to but by the third race I was back in full form. Hehe.

I only just passed 3000 VR in MK8 so I haven't been playing as much as I would like to be!

I just got done racing online. 9 to 12 racers each race. But of course a huge amount of the base is playing Smash on their 3DSs. But I think their will be new/return waves of racers for DLC #1 and after Christmas (the Cabanon Effect if you will...he may smoke us all!)

Hey, I had a nice worst (11th on the line) to first finish in my first race. Grumble volcano, all the right power ups, Big Morty and the F1. Yippee!

Havent played MK8 in ages. The problem (as we all know) of having a large library of games is never getting to go back to games, too many to play/complete.

What I do notice, and MK, please chime in here, is the apparent demographic changes between 9:45PM and 11:00PM NYC time. At 9:45, I see racers of both genders and more with lower VR ranks. Then 10PM bed time comes and folks fly out of the room. Enter the dudes with the freaky Miis, the 4800 VRs and something golden.

There are certainly peak times but if you play global matches - my preference - it all evens out. When the USA is sleeping, Europe is wide awake and vice versa.

Interesting... I'm not a cycle fan in MK8 but that is pretty cool.

In other news, my 3 year old son completed an entire lap in Mario Kart 8 by himself tonight. ;_; I'm such a proud dad.

@Cabanon Haha! It's only a matter of time.

I'm enjoying this time where he's actually interested in my games and we can play them together. Soon enough he'll be asking me to play his fancy new games with him and I'll be getting my butt kicked left, right and center I'm sure!

Excitebike Arena looks like a lot of fun! I figure the characters and vehicles will have the same stats as existing ones, so I am most looking forward to the new tracks. That vid did not disappoint.

Now if we could just get a release date for DLC #1 . . . .

So the race track was amazing. But I think the best part of that video was the MUSIC track! Where can I get that!? That was beautiful!

There is a Nintendo Direct event scheduled for 11/5 at 5PM NYC time. I think FINALLY we will have our answer as to when DLC #1 will be released.

For the record, Grizz predicted 11/9, so I'm holding him (and Big N) to that :D

11/13 is DLC #1 Day!!!!!!

Confirmed during Nintendo Direct presentation. The new tracks look great. The scene of Link on his epona cycle emerging from the castle on the LoZ track looked awesome. The F-Zero track (and music) look stupid good too.

On the downside, the amiibo compatibility is pretty weak: an amiibos character unlocks a costume for your Mii. So its $11.99 to unlock 8 new amazing tracks, 3 characters and 4 vehicles, and $12.99 so my Mii can wear a Samus suit? Someone at Nintendo call accounting!! :D

Nintendo just got another 12 bucks out of me. :-8

Now I'm all set, video gaming wise, for the month of November thanks to the MK8 DLC and SSBWiiU. :D

Coolness Alert!!: you know those Hori Mario and Luigi steering wheels that were release in Japan and sold separately on Amazon for $25/each?

Found a dual pack (containing one of each) at Best Buy yesterday for $19.99. :yeah: You may have to hunt, there were exactly zero left on the shelf after my purchase.

Update: Available on bestbuy.com under HORI - Mario Kart 8 Racing Wheel Set for Nintendo Wii U. Apparently, the set pack is a bestbuy exclusive.

on a more serious note, things have switched so fast last week that we're moving out in a duplex in 3 weeks from now, so the WiiU will not be under the Christmas tree this year. sad for sure but we're switching from a 5½ apartment to a 2 stories + basement place. so so much better. there's even a place for a gaming room in the future, finally !!

Congrats on the new place, Cabanon! Better to have adequate room for the fam than another gaming system for sure.

With DLC#2 due out in May 2015, plenty of peeps will still be MK8 racing next spring/summer...and I can only imagine the post-christmas deals on WiiU systems by then :yeah:
