Yowza!
I thought "How cool would it have been if there were only 64 variations??" Haha!

EDIT
my apologies to DarkLink

the japanese Nintendo 64 promotion bundle- Double GET Campaign

Along with the two bonus Pokeman cards, it also came with a Mini CD
this was BEFORE Pokemon became a trend in America

Spoiler: click to toggle

So, first it was the poor quality pics, then the hirigana threw me off...
But then i got some proofs-and a few friends in Japan set things straight.

I needed to know that the main logo boldly states getsuto daiichi kyampen ( DOUBLE GET Campaign)

I couldn't see to read the ENTIRE label on the box, thankfully with some help it translates:

"By buying a Nintendo 64 was started from December 10, 1997 in the Nintendo 64 Double Get Campaign, was able to get Mini CD and Pokemon Card"

For what it's worth, the reason for the "circular" box display is to signify a (compact disc)

the W is meant to signify "DOUBLE" :eh:

From what i'm told, these items are common- in Japan...

Should this console be considered?

64DD Development Kit

Technically, it is a variation- and can play games.

@Nillew,
For the purposes of these documentation of console variations here, which are the best ever seen... :)

If it was a release with a certain amount, for a certain period of time, it qualifies as a variation.

WOW!!

Amazing find dude!

The minute i seen this, i had to add to it. For the longest time i wondered what or where this pin came from!
Posted Image

I asked for an explanation but never got one.
Looking at the box, it is clear there is a correlation!!
Was it an event?
Was it now included as part of this bundle?

And now how about that vhs tape and Soccer/Football!?

What are the odds that #150 would be so full of surprises???

Woah!!

Maybe there ISN'T a purple controller inside, so to save time/money, the distributor in Brazil put Pokemon stickers over the image.
Brazillians also know spanish, so i doubt Nintendo would've made a portuguese specific guide...

I'm not up on my Pokemon- which Pokemon is that in the other pic?

Hmm... interesting!

Here is something else interesting.
I tracked down the football in the image.

From 1994.
Although this one is a size 4, it has the same designs as the one on the bundle image- which is most likely size 5.
It also has the "FIFA INSPECTED" brand on it, as well as all the other same markings, granted the ball(s) were displayed on the same 360° axis.

But what is even more troubling, is that the small pic of the ball on the box is a

I'm in contact with a few people about all this, but maybe our european divison here has a better understanding of football than i do :yeah:

At this point I could imagine that it may have been a event of some sort, that would explain other Nintendo World Cup live merchandise like the pin, although it is not advertised on the box.

Thank you Darklink!

Danilochka was right, it is/was from Portugal. :yeah:
When an item so unique gets discovered, it is a thrill for us. I certainly was!
As difficult and mysterious as this console was, i try to divulge anything i can- not only to help others, but even for the owner.

Originally, my interest as a collector was focused mainly on the soccer/football.
And it turns out that every example that has been shown on this thread is extremely expensive and valuable on their own!

According to these pics, it looks like each box is individually numbered in a limited run.
I also think this was some sort of event. How awesome!
For argument's sake, i hope more possibly show up. :)

Ya got me!!

A lot of people/sellers still think the Clear Black JPN version was only sold with the Randnet Delivery Set bundle(s)... which isn't true.

This could be a whole new variation window!

You must let me know where the controller is made. ;)

However I know that the Clear Black model was originally sold with the 64DD in Japan. Although they were seemingly made a bit beforehand they were held back until the December 1999 release date, presumably to try and entice in buyers with something new and unique. Later it was at least made available on the Randnet online store.
Dont get me wrong, i'm not here to argue with greatness.

Besides our new Taiwan variant, there is nothing else distinguishable with the Clear Black version to say it solely belonged to Randnet.

I'd put it's time of availability around the same time as the Midnight Blue console.

If it was only exclusive to Randnet, Nintendo wouldn't have made the controller available seperately for purchase.

Not so fast!

I've been informed that this thread has this Brazilian console listed twice.

Edicao Especial Nintendo Futebol
Edicao Especial Nintendo Futebol 98'

Released in April 1998, they are the same console you see below. It is a slipcover. This was %100 confirmed by Nillew. :n64:

You can also see that it is a raised surface from the reflection it casts on the table! :D

Here also is the advert for this console. From Super Game Power magazine #50.

I sent this thread to Nillew. I want him to see this. :)

Before i go, i wanted to say how incredible this work is! This console, or consoles started out as 1 pic and a name on the list. Little was known.
Now, it truely is especial!
I'm only upset that the Futebol Mario is kicking isn't an included item.

I am back folks.

Thanks to Nillew, i've been on quite a journey this past weekend. It feels like he has figuratively taken me on a trip into the heart of the Amazon itself! He has shown me things that I only read about or heard of.
Now that I'm back here in Jumanji, i need to share these findings and recent revelations that we have discussed, analyzed, and cross referenced in hopes of shedding new insight into Edicao Especial Nintendo Futebol 98.

I appreciate and respect the angle Danilochka is presenting here. I examine things in a similar fashion. It embraces and defends the internal aspect of distribution. Once Nillew offered his assistance on my MADE IN JAPAN thread, i started to understand that his knowledge and experience was coming from someone that has been there from the beginning of the N64 era.

Instead of comparing this slipcover to other N64 variations of the same region such as the SWE1R slipcover, we took things in a different direction.

Here are known examples of the console:
Spoiler: click to toggle

Now let's look at the SNES variant!
Spoiler: click to toggle

Not only does the sticker appear in the same place every time in both N64 and SNES, but it is there for two reasons; determining which opposite side the slipcover(s) go on, and somewhere along the chain of production shows which consoles the slipcover is assigned to.

So what about the controller?
In the console N64 pics above, there is always some aspect missing. And when the slipcover is missing, you find little reason for any of the other contents to be accurate. In the SNES pics, aside from some box damage, everything else is intact. Every item accounted for. So could the Grey/Gold controller issue simply be a quick switch to sell a complete console? Without the slipcover, there is no reason obligating the seller to accurately include all original contents.
Now lets look at some more adverts:
the following magazine adverts have the following detail- *NA EDIÇÃO ESPECIAL NINTENDO FUTEBOL 98 O CONTROLLER DOURADO SUBSTITUI O ORIGINAL. (highlighted by yellow arrow).
It translates:
In the Special Edition Nintendo Soccer 98, the Golden Controller replaces the original.
Spoiler: click to toggle

You might say that this is too much fuss over a slipcover, but in America we didn't get them here. I don't get an opportunity much to add to this thread, and i found it all very intriguing.

It reminds me of a similar situation that Vinyl and I found with a few items from Japan. It confused us at first much like what is happening here.

Here are two different Doshin the Giant books. I included 3 examples in both versions found in an auction setting.

Posted ImagePosted Image

The one on the left is the Doshin Fan book, the Doshin art book is on the right.
Here are my examples:

@Danilochka, you're right! I didn't notice that. Mario's arm is covering it. You can almost see a hint of the corner label under him though. Interesting.
At first i thought that the ones that had that label were exclusives to certain stores, but it seems every real world example has it.

I appreciate the kind words mate. If i'm an expert, i'd like to be modest about it like Mario is in hiding his own label. :P

@Nillew, allow me to add the last 1% :)

On the slipcover, to the right of the player's head, is the :n64: SPORTS logo. Until i seen this, i thought NTSC was the only region that used this branding on sports games, but Brazil must have as well!

We never got slipcovers here, and ISS2000 was a NTSC Blockbuster Video exclusive only.

That's fair Cabanon. I stand corrected.

ISS2000 did start out at BBV, and most recognize it as an exclusive. For the sake of discussion, it never got a bundle release here.
This could only mean that the slipcover bundle came from Brazil.

@Cabanon, it was called the ""Double GET Campaign"

Not only did you get an N64, but also two pokemon cards/brochure and a Pokemon music CD..

Or in other words, the "Double Get" was an N64 + Pokemon promos.
