I set up an N64Forever.com "Tournament" in the online menu of Mario Kart 8. It runs every night at 10:30 pm U.S Eastern Daylight Savings Time (New York City time).

Code: 8073-6384-4485

So if you are karting at that time, check it out; you might be able to race against fellow members here for fun and MK8 excitement.

UPDATE: We'll try to schedule races for Friday nights at 10:30 pm NYC time.

A good showing tonight and a nearly an hour of racing! Thanks to Kel, Amy, Guite, Grizz and, of course, Boomdiers! I amped up the AI and it showed, with the AI using shortcuts and Baby Peach amassing a ton of points. Good time, thanks everyone! :yeah:

Mario Kart 8 is so luck based that you'll still probably do well as long as you know your way around the track.

I'm gonna use a classic old school configuration when I play tonight. X_D

In homage to Mario Kart 64, I'm going to use Wario on the Pipe Frame with the plain black Slicks.

Wish me luck. ;)

Great racing tonight, folks. Eric, you did especially well with Yoshi who's not usually known to be a dominant character. Just a testament to your skill I guess. :yeah:

Fun stuff! I ended up with the default kart setup because I was getting the kiddo ready for bed and Mrs. Kart set me up. But I kinda liked the extra acceleration. Took me a few races to re-learn the handling though.

Pretty good competition tonight! Thanks, all!

Thanks everyone! It was GREAT having 7 of us on there at once! Many fun races and great competition for an hour. Good stuff. So thanks to Grizz, Kartmaster, Mrs. Kartmaster, Guite, Boomdiers and Lualis for playing. And Vinyl, kudos for staying up so late for the practice runs. :yeah:

Good games :)
I'm happy I did pretty well considering the tough competition! I have to admit that I felt like I was getting extremely lucky though as the amount of 3 mushrooms I got in 2nd, 3rd and 4th was pretty high

Eric, you did great and I love that you did it with a non-heavyweight. The thing about MK8 items is that you have to know how use them. Getting 3 mushrooms is only good if you know when to boost so you don't careen into walls or off ledges. So good job you!

I got EXTREMELY unlucky last night getting blue shelled on the last lap in two separate races. Then another time I got lighting bolted within eyeshot of the finish line when I was in first place. Oh well, that's how the cookie crumbles some time. I still had MAD FUN! :w00t:

Yeah, I definitely think Grizz get's the "Robbed at the Line" award for last night. I saw at least twice you went from 1st to 4th, or 2nd to 6th at the very end. Not gonna lie, I giggled.

Of course half my races were spent stuck in 8th place getting hammered by items. Haha.

A couple of times I lost control on the final lap and fell back a few positions. >_< Guess I'm not used to the Slicks' power sliding characteristics as I usually use the Crimson Slims when racing on-line.

Kartmaster: Your lady is quite the driver and a true competitor. What's her driving like in real life? I bet taking a trip with her to the grocery store is a blast.

Yeah a couple of times I felt slightly bad about taking advantage of your luck Grizz, but then I remembered last Friday >:-]

And Yoshi is my favourite in all games, no matter how good/tiered he is

Umm, hoping no one saw me miss the Toad Harbor short cut jump for no apparent reason. I had just shelled Boomdier out of the lead, and was feeling pretty stoked. And then I blew the jump

OK, weekly call for MK8 Friday night races . . . the LAST Mercedes free, map free edition! Who will be revving their engines this week?

BTW, I finally earned the gold cart and gold tires this week, so look out (wait, no, I'll still be on rollers sliding around corners in the Circuit Special X_D ).

I should be there. Haven't talked to Mrs. Kart, but she's always excited to play with everybody.

I actually had a really good night in worldwide this week racing Morton on the Pipe Frame with Slims. Maybe just the group I was in, but I was dropping the hammer! Placed 1st four out of six races. That's amazing for me. I'm sure come Friday, I'll be back to battling for 4th. :P
