i think you're on to something! Just listen to the crowd audio. It is eerily similar to the crowd in Punch-Out!!
The old heads at Nintendo Japan had to be inspired by old westerns.
Perhaps it was the possibilities of broad appeal, but why else would one of their first toys be an air rifle?
