Never once been a fan of Dynasty Warriors, but I sure am going to be purchasing this one!

It looks quite boring to me, doesn't seem to be much variety to it other than slashing constant enemies

After watching hours of LoZ: Breath of the Wild, and just finishing my current game, I popped this one in for the first time last night. I had a ball. Yes, it is a lot of slashing waves enemies, but the shear amount of carnage and how OP Link is will bring a smile to your face. There's a hoard of enemies . . . let me throw a half dozen bomds with the push of a button, then I'll do my spin-sword move . . . oh, look, my special attack gauge is full . . . let me get super surrounded by enemies, then BLAM-MO!!!!! There are one or moves you pull off by pushing certain buttons in succession as for a certain Umbran Witch that I so

The graphics are great IMHO. I am kinda of so-so on the LoZ:BotW style, especially seeing HD Link in this one. Maybe it's better to have both styles available for play on the Wii U.

MORE THOUGHTS: Up to this point, I thought it looked like a hack and slash that could not live up to my Bayonetta experience. And while there is some resemblance to Bayonetta in that you are a super charged warrior capable of slaying hoards of enemies, there is a neat difference. The battles are staged if you will in a battlefield arena. Instead of a linear path, you battle as you move through say 16 screens worth of battlefield. You have to set your troups up to maintain a subarea, then you move on, but sometimes you are needed several subareas away. And you have to race there to save the day. An N64 point of reference would be Army Men: Air Combat. So even when you are slash at hoards of enemies trying to secure an subarea, you're peaking at the mini-map showing how well (or poorly) your troups are doing throughout the battlefield, and you are thinking, I've got to get to that other area pronto!

The graphics are terrific. Some frame rate issues on occasion, but given the shear numbers of enemies and explosions going on at once, it's understandable. The soundtrack is great. Electric guitar LoZ theme and other rocking tracks that blend perfectly with the scene and action.

It's funny that No64DD has commented that LoZ: Breath of the Wind and its open world may be the Zelda he's always wanted. Well, I'm a linear fan and not much of a dungeon crawler, so maybe, just maybe Hyrule Warriors is the Zelda that I've always wanted. :D
