It looks like Streets of Rage 2 won't be my only Sega Genesis completion this year. Thanks to "Lock-On Technology", Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has been beaten. While not having a jump as strong as Sonic did slow things down a bit, it also allowed me to complete stages in ways only the hedgehog's red rival could. The only thing that I found super off was the hit detection on the final boss, but that will never be enough to stop me from recommending a playthrough of my favorite game in the world as Knuckles. :yeah:

After many failed attempts and close calls, I am proud to announce that I have finally beaten Star Fox on it's level 3 difficulty, thus completing the goal I set for myself earlier this year. While I admit that having to do the entire game over and over again did leave me feeling fatigued at times, I can honestly say that this game holds up very well today as far as gameplay goes. Sure it doesn't top Star Fox 64 (which is still my favorite of the series), but being #2 ain't so bad either. :yeah:

Mega Man 64 has been beaten and the N64 list gets at least one game bigger before the year is up! As for the game itself, it's not perfect, but it's become one of my favorite N64 games thanks to it's characters (my new favorite in any MM series), interesting boss battles and many customization options. Why the N64 port of Mega Man Legends gets a bum rap is beyond me.

One last to finish up the year, 50th platinum trophy, and I still have the European version to do for a full series plat, although i'm not looking forward to it, as I really hate this game, it's worse than the previous entries in almost every way, glitchy and overall disappointing and a very frustrating experience.

Twisted Metal: Head-On has been beaten! This makes my first (and most likely last) PSP completion of 2015. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for vehicular combat on the go! Or you can always get the enhanced PS2 port. Won't blame you. I might complete the story with the rest of the cast sometime next year like I did with Twisted Metal 2 (sort of).

Just finished Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 on the Dreamcast. There was just the odd one goal here an there needed completing from earlier in the year. Managed to knock them out in about an hour or so yesterday. I should have a go at the N64 version but since I had this game since new on the Dreamcast it just feels right playing it on that platform. Completed this back in the day but re-attempted earlier in the year without seeing it 100% through. That secret tape on Philadelphia though!

Beaten 2015:

PS4:
Far Cry 4
GTA 5

PS1:
Tomorrow Never Dies
Medal of Honor
Medal of Honor: Underground

N64:
Goldeneye 007

Snes:
Super Mario Bros :fireballmario:
Donkey Kong Country :dk:

Sega Megadrive:
Streets of Rage II

Dreamcast:
Shenmue
THPS 2

Xbox:
Shenmue II
Indiana Jones & The Emperor's Tomb

Game on.

I've not kept track of what games I finished this year but my Xbox achievements did. 2015 is the smallest completion list I've had in a very long time:

The Walking Dead First Season episodes 1 - 4
Forza Horizon 2
Forza Horizon 2: Fast and Furious

And that's it!

Most of my year's gaming was spent in three games: Minecraft, Forza Horizon 2 and Fallout 4, all of which I've enjoyed immensely. I got a Xbox One in March and have bought 23 games on disc, but have only actually finished one of those. So, my new years gaming resolution is to get stuck into more of the games I've bought and get them finished! :D

Final 2015 Game Completion Count: 68 (NEW PERSONAL RECORD!)

Final Thoughts: Woohoo! A new record! When the year started, I didn't even expect to match my 2014 completion count yet I ended up obliterating it by 16 games. How will I top this? I don't know, but I have a lot more faith in doing so than I did last year.

And, unless I miscounted, I think some of you guys broke your 2014 records as well. Whether or not you did, congrats on all of your completions and I hope to see more of you when the "Games You've Finished in 2016" thread gets started. Seeing everyone else's completions truly made this my favorite thread of 2015. :yeah:

You're a beast, EnvyFox! Nicely done. And congrats to buddy and everyone else who beat games in 2015, whether it was one or dozens. :yeah:

I hope to play more games this year and ween myself off of almost endless YouTube video watching. Although I finished a handful of games I also put in hundreds of hours on Garry's Mod and that won't end anytime soon as I love that game. Cheers to you all in 2016! :dk:

I didn't quite manage to finish DK Country 2 on the Snes in time I've been quite busy over the festive period. I have completed 13 games this year which is a reasonable effort considering I spend a lot of the relatively low gaming time I get online e.g. COD.

It is my target this year to complete a few more than this and particularly start completing some of the N64 titles I have not completed. I'll probably look to start the year by completing my favourite - Goldeneye 007 which is always a joy to play through.

When you say you've beaten Forza Horizon 2-awesome game-how did you decide this? 100%?
Nah, I decided to call it a day after 115 hours; main quests completed (twice), gold wristband, 200+ cars in the garage, all skills unlocked and every road explored. It's still nowhere near 100%, but the rest feels like grinding. Might get there eventually...

My definition of finished is usually when I've completed the story. Its rare for me to try for 100% completion in games as I don't have as much gaming time as I'd like and would rather spread my time over more games. :)

I was going to be really impressed because I don't think I've ever hit 100% on any Forza game. I tried though! I just enjoy driving around and exploring more than trying to get to 100%. Also the online road trips are a blast!

Well, my 2015 game completions kind of went out with a whimper... I had hoped to get at least a single game completed in each November and December, but only managed half that. :-8
Still though... I was playing through a quartet of games those last months, so I was somewhat busy gaming-wise. Only managed to finish Knytt Underground on the Vita, which was convenient while I stayed with my fam over the holiday. Plenty enjoyable and unique art style and background story/lore... and a somewhat tricky twitch-platformer in parts.

games/DLC finished this year:
01/19 - Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss DLC (100%)
01/26 - Dark Souls (100%)
02/15 - 02/17 - A spat of L.A. Noire DLC
02/17 - L.A. Noire (100%)
02/22 - Virtue's Last Reward (100%)
05/04 - Resogun: Defenders DLC (100%)
05/13 - Resogun: Challengers DLC (100%)
05/18 - The Walking Dead (100%)
05/18 - The Walking Dead: 400 Days DLC (100%)
05/21 - The Walking Dead: Season 2 (100%)
06/01 - Red Dead Redemption: Legends and Killers DLC (100%)
06/07 - Red Dead Redemption: Liars and Cheats DLC (100%)
06/07 - Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare DLC (100%)
06/10 - Red Dead Redemption (100%)
07/02 - Batman: Arkham Origins: Initiation DLC (100%)
07/08 - Batman: Arkham Origins (100%)
07/23 - Assassin's Creed: Revelations: The Lost Archive DLC (100%)
07/23 - Assassin's Creed: Revelations (100%)
08/02 - Uncharted 3 (100%)
08/07 - Journey (100%)
08/14 - Velocity Ultra (100%)
08/17 - Stacking (100%)
08/17 - Stacking: The Lost Hobo King DLC (100%)
09/23 - Catherine (100%)
10/01 - LittleBigPlanet Karting (100%)
10/21 - PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate HD (100%)
10/28 - Back to the Future: The Game (100%)
12/25 - Knytt Underground (100%)

Anyways... just like years previous, here's my little self-survey of my gaming this year...

games (sans DLC) finished this year:
01/26 - Dark Souls (100%)
02/17 - L.A. Noire (100%)
02/22 - Virtue's Last Reward (100%)
05/18 - The Walking Dead (100%)
05/21 - The Walking Dead: Season 2 (100%)
06/10 - Red Dead Redemption (100%)
07/08 - Batman: Arkham Origins (100%)
07/23 - Assassin's Creed: Revelations (100%)
08/02 - Uncharted 3 (100%)
08/07 - Journey (100%)
08/14 - Velocity Ultra (100%)
08/17 - Stacking (100%)
09/23 - Catherine (100%)
10/01 - LittleBigPlanet Karting (100%)
10/21 - PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate HD (100%)
10/28 - Back to the Future: The Game (100%)
12/25 - Knytt Underground (100%)

A total of 17 games completed this year... by sheer coincidence, exactly the same last year.
And now for the various breakdowns...

Handheld: 4
Console: 13

  • Vita: 4 (2 less than 2014)
  • PS3: 9 (same as 2014)
  • PS4: 4 (2 more than 2014)
Retail disc: 9 (or 11 if you count TWD S1&2... I own the physical discs, but played the digital copies of both)... as opposed to 7 in 2014
Downloadable-only: 8 (or 6)... 10 in 2014
Indie: 9-ish... 8 in 2014

ESRB ratings:

  • Everyone: 4
  • Everyone 10+: 1
  • Teen: 3
  • Mature: 9 (up from 5 in 2014)

And for a loosely-defined category breakdown:

  • point-and-click adventure: 5
  • open-world/sandbox (3D): 4
  • open-world action RPG: 1
  • arcade-shooter: 1
  • action/adventure: 1
  • racing: 1
  • tower defense: 1
  • 2D platformer: 1
  • artistic/casual: 1
  • horror dating-sim anime puzzle-platformer... thing: 1 (lulz, Catherine)

I guess the big thing for me this year was mature games (almost double those played in 2014) as well as "point-and-click" adventure-type games... most of which came in the form of TellTale Games' various series'. 7 of the 17 games I finished had significant multiplayer portions, and 6 of the 17 were games I had started in previous years but finally completed in 2015. As I'm trying to work through the older games in my backlog, a few more games were physical releases than were last year... and 2015 saw the first time I had reached a 100% PSN trophy profile since sometime in 2010. :w00t:
Bring on 2016!! :w00t: :w00t:

You played some really good games last year, floorcat, Red Dead Redemption and The Walking Dead are both excellent. What did you think of AC Revelations? I was a bit disappointed, it felt like a low note to end the Ezio story on, especially the first person puzzle sections which I found pretty boring. Finished the main game though.

I played through LA Noire a few years ago and its a mixed bag; the facial animations are amazing and its a great story but the gameplay was a bit random at times.

I started playing Stacking a while ago and it seemed good fun but I got a bit stuck and then never went back to it. May yet get back to it. :)

I've been waiting for Back to the Future to drop in price a bit. I'd really like to see what is like as I loved the films. :D What did you think of it?

Yeah... had a good bit of fun playing just about every game I played last year... even AC Revelations. I know exactly what you mean about those FPS sections... I was more frightened about the fact that I would get instant-motion-sickness from them, so I guess the boredom hadn't fully set in. But it was a good few years since I last played an Assassin's Creed game, so it was still somewhat (re-)fresh(ed) and enjoyable... perhaps the low-point of the game for me was those silly tower defense-type sections.

L.A. Noire... definitely had that 50s-era ambiance in full... and was unique enough (and yes, those facial animations!) that I enjoyed *almost* everything about it. Could've done without that car-collecting bit.

Really enjoyed Back to the Future... if you loved the films, the story in this game series should feel almost like a BttF: part IV. :yeah: The extras in the 30th Anniv. edition are pretty cool (with interviews of the all the voice talents and orginal cast members, etc.). The game-play is kinda standard adventure game fare... kinda slow and always a chance of getting stuck (without a walkthrough).
