HDMI or just be happy with S-Video
Topic Started: Jan 14 2015, 02:47 PM (615 Views)
Been playing some old N64 again, :cussfit: its still such a good system and games! I have my N64 hooked up on my 32" Samsung HDTV, at first I had it hooked up with the composite cables since my HDTV is old enough to have that hook up (2008). It looked horrible, very blurry, not very bright colors and motion like blurs behind all movement. So I started the search for some S-Video cables and found people on ebay wanted way to much money for old original true S-Video cables or were selling the ones that also had the yellow composite made into them, well those just don't work and put a funny checkerboard pattern in everything on my N64, SNES and GameCube!

Well after much looking around I found two vendors on ebay selling some remakes of the true S-Video cables!

Well after hooking up to my TV using one of these it was a major improvement! No more blurs, sharper, brighter colors and things in the far distance are a lot more clear!

S-Video hook up, very happy!

Now I'm happy with this and if this is as good as it can get with my N64 or an HDTV I'm good with that, but has anyone here ever used any s-video to hdmi upscalers?

I was looking into this one.

Is it worth trying or should I be happy with what I have?

stay this way. there is plan to make an HDMI converter in the near future. those HDMI upscaler induce lag, altho minimal, that will diminish the gameplay in a horrible way.

there's some thread on that subject somewhere in this section as well. have a look at them.
