I will eventually get all series 1 amiibos on the boxing day sale (if there is any amiibos left...)
I'd grab the villager and marth now if you can find them I've been to and or phoned every game store here and can't find any marth. Stores have only been getting 8 of each at the most. Spent the whole day looking today.
properly get marth and villager and wiifit trainer when I do christmas window shopping at Rap, tomorrow
since SSBwiiu will be available tomorrow and also amiibos, already pre-orded ssbwiiu and kirby amiibo, they will be in mail on monday

Already I can see that there are going to be some unique collecting opportunities with the Amiibo. Here's just one example.

Amiibo Manufacturing Error Gives Samus Two Arm Cannons
I don't know 'bout you but... I think this is the BEST manufacturing error ever! I find those canons so awesome

In the city i was trying find normal jbhifi store but there wasnt any games there so i went to get lunch and when i saw eb games that was near the place i was eat lunch (well 3 moving stairs below), I went their as soon as possible and outside the eb games was a group of 6 or 7 teens have 3ds, 3dsxls with copys of SSB, I first went in shop and saw amiibo figures , the 3 I was looking for was only 1 stock each so I grab them paid them now they are mine.

When i left the store i went to arround the guys that were playing the 3ds to streetpass them. I had good day :)

I've been reading about Marth shortage. Is it rare worldwide or just in some places?

I found the "rare" ones today in Germany (Aachen), but didn' pick 'em up. Villager just doesn't seem special, Marth had a had painting (white spot on the black part) and Wii Fit Trainer had a damaged box (big issue, since I want a sealed set).

Funny enough I found a big supply of Link as well, but (besides Link) the two I really want were nowhere to find: Pickachu and Kirby!

My Kirby amiibo arrived yesterday afternoon and the SSBWIIU will be here on Monday near noon or afternoon. And little question, I know that amiibo figures help you in battle or fight in super smash bros, but will Nintendo will update the game to allow you control the amiibo and amibos can get to lvl 100? I wish they could just update the game in the coming weeks so that you can control the amiibos. What if Nintendo made amiibo online spectate where you can put your trained amibo in fight to see who can win it, but there will level restrictions if your amiibo level is to high. Idk that's my idea, kinda looks nice but again not sure how this going to be plan out. Who knows we might be lucky.

Just a quick FYI. I opened Samus and scanned her in for MK8. It unlocked the Samus Mii outfit. This unlocking appears to be permanent, as I've shut the game off and re-opened with having to re-scan Samus. Makes me wonder if a single amiibo can be scanned into friends copies of MK8.....

Same here.

I can't immediately think how the game would know it's been scanned elsewhere. When we scanned our Amiibos in it all seemed to happen to quickly for it to be "phoning home" to check if the Amiibo would be scanned elsewhere.

I was curious too so after a quick Google search:

(From Answers to Top amiibo Questions)

Q: Can I use a single amiibo figure on my Mario Kart 8 game and my friend’s Mario Kart 8 game so that we both get access to the Mii Racing Suit?
A: Yes, for games that do not save data to the amiibo figures, a single figure can be used with multiple copies of the same game.

And I thought that this was interesting:

Q: How many games can I save to a single amiibo figure at the same time?
A: An amiibo can save data for one game at a time, so game data will need to be erased on an amiibo before it can be used with another game with read/write compatibility. Currently, only Super Smash Bros. for Wii U allows users to save certain game data to compatible amiibo figures. Your amiibo will still function with Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors without erasing your Super Smash Bros. data.

I also saw that Amiibo does not work while it's still in the box, there is a aluminum cover under it to prevent the Amiibo beeing scanned

yeah... i've also discovered that. A pity really because i'm not going to unbox my precious Samus amiibo for just a MK8 outfit i'll probably use only once.

Anywoo: as you can gather i have given in to the urge (financial situaton be :cussfit:ed) and impulse purchased one Samus Aran amiibo for 16 euro (ouch).
But then today a big retail chain started a "buy 2, get 1 free" promotion for amiibo, Disney Infinity and Skylanders figurines.
Couldn't resist of course (you know me) and picked up a Villager, Wii Fit Trainer and Link amiibo priced at 13 euro's so i paid "only" 26 euro for the trio.
I'll see if i can get three others at another store later this week.
But i've already noticed that some models will be very hard to find.

Since we both live in the Netherlands, would you mind telling me what store it was? :)

MediaMarkt.

BTW: last week MediaMarkt sold SSBU for 46 euro at launch. But now with the "buy 2, get one free" promotion they whacked up the price to 58 euro.
SSBU was still 46 euro at my local Bart Smit but every shop keeps price-matching on a daily basis so it could go up again tomorrow.

If things get desperate for rare Amiibos, my local store had a bunch of Marths in the shelves (also Fox and DK).

Marth seems to be the hardest one to find.
But you're located in Australia, right?

My bad... Portugal if i remember correctly now :)
Then perhaps you can buy an extra Marth and trade it with me?

Anywoo: checked two more MediaMarkt stores today.
One store had lots of Pikachu and Peach amiibo's but none of the other models.
The other store was quickly running out of amiibo's but i managed to snatch up Yoshi, Donkey Kong and Peach in another "buy two, get one free" deal.
Made some unexpected extra cash today so i could not resist the temptation

Amiibo only tournaments... Hmm. That is a bit intriguing. I'd feel like Burgess Meredith in "Rocky". =)

Found it! Picked up two Links and a Pikachu. All that was left were these and Mario, but I'm getting that one with my bundle. Now I can use one Link, and keep one sealed for free :)

Looks like we've got another one.

Amiibo Manufacturing Error Leads to Legless Peach

I don't think these will fetch as much money as the defective Samus Amiibo because it doesn't look as cool.

That's kind of a shame for sure, I know that I can use my rare Skylanders with the games without needing to open the boxes. Not sure what prompted this design decision, it's not like you can bring a Wii U into the stores with you and scan them straight off the shelves.

Woot!
My local MediaMarkt shop had a amiibo restock with the most popular models and their "buy two, get one free" promotion is still running.
So i immediately took the opportunity to snatch up good old Mario, the inevitable Pikachu and last but not least Star Fox.
I'm so glad i started off with some of the rarer figures or i wouldn't have had anything to buy now!
