Not sure what prompted this design decision, it's not like you can bring a Wii U into the stores with you and scan them straight off the shelves. Well, I can tell you that the two amiibos I have stashed as gifts for friends would have been totally scanned in by me for MK8 by now. I would reap the MK8 benefit without purchasing the amiibos for myself. And I would not have to broche the ethical issue of whether I awkwardly (and selfishly) ask my friends, like 5 seconds after gifting them the amiibos, hey, do you mind if we scanned those amiibos I just gave you into my Wii U?

My local MediaMarkt shop had a amiibo restock with the most popular models and their "buy two, get one free" promotion is still running. So i immediately took the opportunity to snatch up good old Mario, the inevitable Pikachu and last but not least Star Fox. I'm so glad i started off with some of the rarer figures or i wouldn't have had anything to buy now! And guess what I have here for you

Member #381 Joined: November 7, 2010	BTW: the illegitimate offspring that run the MediaMarkt retail chain have jacked up the amiibo price with two euro from 12.99 to 14.99 That's cheaper than most other stores here in the Netherlands but still... sheer daylight robbery! Visited several locations yesterday in search of a Kirby figure but alas; all i could find was Peach, Pikachu and most surprisingly Samus.

My guess would be to still make it sort of 2D, making it look flat, but instead of being paper thin they would make it with about 1cm of dept. Also, apparently Marth was available for a short time today on Amazon at MRSP. He was there this afternoon at $21 shipped. That said, I'd grab samus. If toys r us ships to quebec, you could take advantage of its buy one get one for 40% off.

Wii U. I just love doing his fiendish laugh taunt when I knock somebody off the stage in SSBWiiU as it tends to drive even the most turtling opponents in to an aggressive frenzy. Mrs. Grizzmeister has hinted that I may be getting Donkey Kong as a stocking stuffer for Christmas which is fine by me as he tends to be my backup in both MK8 and Sm4sh.

So weird... while Smashbros sells are jumping up with millions, (christmas is coming? ) and they stop making some Amiibo? meanwhile the Skylander figures are selling less then before.., and they keep making them.. I Bet it's the price... 15/16 euro ( 20 usd) is a but much here

For us Nintendo freaks and collectors each amiibo (even the Wii Fit trainer and Villager or MrGamenWatch for those who never played their games) is interesting and special. But in terms of retail and shelf space, which they mention, maybe that's very determinant for them. But I totally agree with you that the idea that something that sells won't be produced anymore sounds, at least, strange.

I reckon this does not mean "first batch delivered to stores" but the first shipment to America, Europe etc. Stores won't keep thousands of items in stock so Nintendo and it's distributors hold the bulk until they are ordered. My local MediaMarkt was all sold out after just one week but then they got a second batch. But Nintendo obviously expects to sell more Mario's then Marth's so i'm guestimating they produced plenty of plumbers and not as many princes.

I bet in the future this could be a very profitable idea like custom consoles or controllers Especially since in games like Super Smash players have the option of selecting from many different colours/skins/etc, people could paint Amiibos to match the variations in the game. My Yoshi Amiibo for example is purple in the game, but of course the actual figure only comes in green

But the one store that was already selling them, broke the street date last Wednesday so they had already run out of Little Mac figures. Picked up Zelda (very nicely done BTW), Pit and Captain Falcon instead.
