I have a feeling you're going to nip that point back off me soon though, just gotta make friends with those moles! ![]() -- Nah actually, the only real advice I could give is to not try and be too clever with the lines through the moles. I lost loads of good race times because I got cocky and got hit on a later lap. Just give them a wide berth and slide boost your way around, it doesn't seem to lose much time. At least not for the time I got, I'm sure the top guys are doing something very interesting on that section! ![]() Other than that I don't know what I could suggest, I think you should avoid hitting any steep inclines (like cutting corners) unless you've just got a turbo boost primed to avoid losing too much momentum. It's certainly a bumpy track so I guess that is the only thing I was consciously trying to do. It's all about maintaining momentum and speed from your slide boosts by snaking around the bumps as efficiently as possible. I went back to Luigi's after this time and powersliding on flat ground was sooo nice! Was on track for a low 1.43 time but dropped it on the last lap just after the tunnel....failed the turboslide up the hill and went offroad on the left... ...still finished only a .10 off my previous best so that would have been a lovely time... ![]() Fun game this, but my thumb is starting to take a hit. |

I can't argue with those results! It's nice to hear you progress through differences in terrain. Don't worry, i'm not visiting Moh Moh Farm anytime soon. Edited by No64DD, Mar 9 2016, 10:55 AM.

I think a leaderboard update is in order! Sublime got rid of my hopes of making a time on Luigi's Raceway. Linus destroys Moo Moo Farm. I think I'll move to the flower cup. Still trying! Edited by Bamboozled, Mar 8 2016, 09:02 PM.

Great... First I had to deal with Meader stealing Moo Moo. Then rdools took it. Now I have to worry about the swiss god with metal sticks. When will this end?!?! |

Soon... Very soon my dear friends... The return of the great Mainer!!! Once I acquire my new metal thumb stick I shall rise and reclaim the Moo Moo that was once mine! And my DK shortcut that has been ripped away from my clutch by my arch rival No64DD. He may look super sexy but I know when I see true evil... And that Bam, always so sweet, or is he just gaining my trust to make it easier to stab my heart and steal my Moo Moo. You all shall pay! and by pay I mean... well... you know... stuff. Thanks to Take the Stage I have discovered Paper Mario and I am working my way thru the game for the first time. Its super fun but I fear that after 4 hours and only 1 chapter, this game may take a while... EDIT: Spelling... cus bad guys don't have time for spell check

From there only destruction can ensue. The Great Pimp does not like challengers. I really want to get some times in! Aggravating the G.P. must be fun!

Leaderboard Update 1st (+1).... 47 (+3) ----- No64DD 2nd (-1)... 45 (+0) ----- rdools 3rd (+0).... 35 (-3) ----- Pimpin Mainer 4th (+0)..... 29 (-2) --- kartmaster 5th (+0)..... 05 (+0) ----- Cabanon 6th (+0)..... 01 (-1) ---- Meader 6th (NEW)... 01 (+1) ---- LinusHofmann New Users: sublime1996525, LinusHofmann Users Falling Out of Points: None Most 1st Place Times: rdools (14) Most Top 3 Finishes: Pimpin Mainer (21) Biggest Movers: No64DD (+3 pts) Most Times Submitted: LinusHofmann (2) Oh No You Didn't Award: No64DD How exciting! The battle at the top is intense! I feel like this won't be the last lead change for a while. No64DD surges back to the top with a new DK shortcut time, a mighty impressive one at that. At the same time we can official welcome some new racers. Sublime1996525 turned in a time good enough to bump certain kartmasters off the Luigi Raceway leaderboard. Just a short second or so away from the points! LinusHofmann scores a point for a very healthy time on Moo Moo Farm, THE most contested track I can think of since this competition began. If you can put times on the leaderboard in the Mushroom Cup, there's definitely plenty of potential across the circuits. Also feel like we can officially call Bamboozled one of our own. While he's still working on getting an official time submitted, I have been thoroughly enjoying watching his journey from spectator, to purchasing his JPN copy, to learning the ropes. I get the feeling he's closer to landing on the leaderboard than he thinks he is.

So, almost all of the Mk64 WRs are converted PAL times, are we sure the conversion rate is an accurate way of measuring against ntsc? Are the europeans just better at MK or is something else going on? ![]() Turbo sliding having a 20% bigger window (slower input timing) might make it a fair bit easier to pull off too? Slower gameplay overall has got to make things a touch easier, I would bet. Wish I had a pal copy of MK to compare. It's always fun to notice the vast difference that a 20% speed change can make to the feel of a game once you're used to one or the other. Mario 64 pal feels so slow after ntsc, you feel like you have time to make a cup of tea before a wall kick registers |

I wondered the same thing. I would say for PAL users, it would give them peace of mind... so to speak. When you are playing at world record levels, i imagine it's one thing you'd need on top of racing your own ghosts, which can be frustrating! Coming from someone who refuses to race ghosts, peace of mind is one thing that i have a hard time finding, especially watching world runs on YouTube. Some WR holders are still uploading times. I'd like to think that they are watching, and is their way of helping us. You should watch ShadowofMyles, he uses NTSC and is beyond talented at MK64! Man, it feels good to be back on top again. I'll keep the seat warm for yins!

@Linus I do feel like PAL has an advantage. Like you even though the number of frames is the same, the window for human input is wider. Every time I miss the Luigi's Raceway shortcut, I wish I had a PAL console. That said, I don't think there's a more fair method that doesn't exclude an entire region. Sure would like to see some people crank out those WR times on an NTSC console. It is what it is, and for this competition I don't think it's a big deal. |

Hah! It's surprising how little it matters actually, I played for about an hour yesterday before realising I had left the note with my name on it covering a big part of the screen ![]() Looks like a very fast time behind that cat. Seems I gotta get some better times in there to beat you to that point on Luigis! |
